So much for the leagues' proposed realignment as the NHLPA rejects it. Disappointing.

The NHLPA asked for more details about realignment and the NHL did not give it to them. I don't think they are necessarily flatout against realignment, but are just wanting to get more information about something that will affect the players before signing off on it. I also think the NHLPA is pissed off that the NHL closed them out of the meetings about realignment. And one more thing, it could be a tactic to let the owners know that they cannot shove the players around once the current CBA runs out later this year. Fehr can be a real bulldog. On the surface, fans will likely think the NHLPA is being silly, however there are legitimate reasons for the rejection. My main hope is that an agreement can be made and every little issue does not become politicized. A lockout would be horrendous for the NHL, and stuff like this issue can get blown out of proportion and lead to power plays by both sides, which will make good faith negotiations hard to do.

I am pretty sure that the latest move by the PA is just a PR pre-war of words with the league. The fact that they are not in consent with the travel schedule and format of the playoffs is nonsense and the realignment scheme is just the red herring. Too much travel? Don't tell that to the Western teams. Each side will try to sidestep and spin the fans for a couple of months as it's just the beginning of a prolonged war of words between the PA and the owners, culminating ultimately in a new collective bargaining agreement.

While I am pretty sure that one of the mandates for D. Fehr is to be as stern as possible in contrast to the mess that the PA has been the last 2 seasons or so, the league probably did not bring everything to the table when they were discussing the possible realignment. Agreeing at first hand would have meant some kind of weakness for the PA but at the same time they must be smarter in this round of negotiations as alienating the fans, is the worst thing that can come out of this.

I'm glad the NHLPA rejected it. The new alignment didn't seem like an improvement to me, especially how the playoffs would work. It's a bullshit system when some teams get a 4 in 7 chance to make the playoffs while others get a 4 in 8 chance. They need to come up with a realignment with a Eastern conference of 15 teams, a Western conference of 15 teams, and 8 teams from each conference make the playoffs.

Bruins-'Nucks. is early in the game and not one drop of blood is lost among these two teams. Good, long tilt between Horton and Weise. Canucks won't be intimidated by the bad Bears.

Already were intimidated by not starting there "best" goaltender. This is gonna be one fun afternoon. Great stuff so far.

Refs have their hands full today.

Oh no. There are a lot of people that think Corey is the future keeper here and that debate goes on in Van city. During the season there was a time that Corey won the job over Louie until #1 started playing his own self lately. And like coach V said, he's starting Schneider because he is a home town boy.

Except that we both know he didn't start Luongo because he mentally wouldn't have been able to handle it.

Pretty bush league play by Marchand right there. I like watching the little guy play hard, but those types of plays piss me off as a fan.

He's a low life punk, what a cheap shot. Being undisciplined plays into the 'Nucks hands, perhaps someone should remind the Bruins that VAN are lethal in the PP department.

Heck of a game. 5 on 5 Boston is the better team but they buried themselves with some stupid penalties and Vancouver made them pay. A shame we don't see these two teams again this year unless it's in the Cup finals. Although no reason that won't happen again the way things are going now.

Would love to see them again in the finals. It had the intensity of a playoff game, 'Nucks played a simple road game nothing fancy while making sure that they wouldn't be bullied by the home team. You guys want to see Luongo so bad, I guarantee you if this match up happens again in the finals, Lou will be there.

Schneider can be a starter on any NHL team, but due to Luongo's contract and his strong play he's still #1 for coach V.

Corey will be rewarded this summer.

Hope Shanny comes hard on Brat M.

Entertaining game to say the least. Schneider was the best player on the ice today. I was disappointed that the refs overcalled the game and made it more about special teams than anything else. 100 penalty minutes was not warranted IMO. I think the Sharks, Wings, and Hawks have just as much shot at making the finals from the West as the Canucks do this year. All 4 goals from Van were on the PP and they are too reliant on that in winning. When the playoffs hit they won't be getting as many PPs, and that will hurt them. Schneider is the best goalie on the team. If I were Vancouver I would try to trade Luongo while he still has value.

Problem is, he's got a NTC. And as the years go by his cap salary averages to about 5 million which is not too shabby for an elite Keeper like him and therefore the controversy every year in this city where he starts so slow before he picks up his slack in mid November.

He can waive the NTC. I'm sure the speculation about him going to TB is just that, but if Vancouver starts going with Schneider more and more I can see Luongo wanting to go to a contending team where he would start. Schneider's stats are awesome now and he is outplaying Luongo.

That was just a rumor gone nowhere back in November when he was struggling. Schneids stats are not that different from Luongo as you said but to put any more rumors to rest, Roberto has been his usual capable self for the past month adding another SO to his resume early this week. Coach V made sure that Luongo would be his # 1 starter and Corey usually makes his solid presence every 4-5 games or so like today. With that said Roberto got another 7 years or so here, he is playing for a contending team, why would he waive his NTC?

Early this week, Brian Burke lamented sending Colton Orr to the minors as he acknowledged that the game was changing fast and the place for the so called goons was very limited as I was telling XXXIV last week. He was sad for his decision because it allows little rats running around the league that know can get way with things. What B. Marchand did to Salo today is an indication of that.

Five games suspension for Marchand for his cheap shot on Salo. In the meantime, Sami has suffered a concussion as a consequence of the hit.

Good. I cannot stand Marchand. Total puke, though it kills me he's nearly point/game this season and had a fantastic playoffs last year.

Shanahan's evaluation of the play in the video is spot on in my opinion, and the claim that it was self-defense is laughable IMO.

Predatory is the key explanation. He went there with an intent to injure and he succeeded. Sami Salo wouldn't kill a fly throughout his career let alone hurt that puke-head. I can't stand him either and it is because of rats like him that I wished the goons would be back and take care of business.

Shanny was perfect. Marchant is a f***in pig who was playing to the sick pigs Milbury and Edwards.

Good to see we are starting to move away from Betman law and towards human law.

Shaved body hair on Marchand. Gaylord. Be a f*cking man and embrace your testosterone, tough guy.

Smart suspension term issued by Shanny.
