Scrabble is better than WWF. For one thing, it keeps track of your games with wins and losses. Optionally, if you play a Bingo, it will let you save to your FB page if you're logged into FB.

Has other features like it previews the score for tiles you're going to play. I miss that when I go back to WWF.

I noticed that WWF now has various in-game purchases through a WWF store. Seems like some of these purchases are features Scrabble already has.

If you always play against a set group of opponents, WWF is okay but if you just want to play a lot of games, Scrabble seems better suited to that.

Both games are good ways to pass little slices of time but they let you try unlimited number of letter combinations per turn. In the board game, I think you can put down tiles once and if someone else challenges an invalid word, you are stuck with those tiles. These electronic versions let you always play tiles somewhere until you get a word that is valid. Sometimes you find words just by trying different combos.

I have recently learned that the coinstar machines near my house charge no service fee if you accept payment in the form of iTunes (or other) gift cards.

It's reassuring to know that I will, literally, be entirely funding apps and games on my iPad with spare change.

For the longest time, I just downloaded the free stuff and only recently began dabbling in the 99 cent and $1.99 range. :D For me, most of these apps are fun 'time wasters' and I just don't place the same kind of value on them that I do physical media for console systems.

GTA3 is on sale now for $3. A game I really want to try but won't pay $7 is Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation by gameloft.

I was the same way, but after a while I realized I was getting a lot more than $1 of enjoyment from these games.

Also, iMAME is currently free on the app store. Get it before it gets pulled!

Speaking of word processing, I never thought much about those bluetooth keyboards for iPads but I saw an ad for the Logitech one which was suppose to be on a big discount but without the discount would be well over $100, which is crazy.

Then I walked into CVS and saw a discount brand Craig iiPad case with bluetooth keyboard. Couldn't find the price but according to this, it's only $30:

http://slickdeals.net/f/3684824-Craig-B ... p=45758070

If that is the price, it's a fraction of what is charged at Best Buy for other brands.

Rumor is in the spring. iPhone 5 in the summer. Of course these are all rumors but the RUMOR is that Apple is prepping for a big year with possible redesigns of the iPhone and the addition of a smaller, stripped down iPad ala the Amazon Kindle. The new iPad will definitely have the retina display which is sweet.

One thing i've read is that Apple may use an edge to edge display. Don't how they'll pull that off but it would be sweet if they could.

Fall looking more likely for iPhone 5 but appears to have some cool design elements.

One rumor making the rounds is iPad3 on the anniversary of Steve Jobs' birthday, which is something like February 24, which is very early.

Thing I don't like about that is that they're in the middle of transitions with ARM A15 chips due and also IMG Rogue for the GPU, which is the next-gen graphics chip from the company which currently makes the GPU for the IPad 2 and the Sony Vita.

Then there is the fact that major die shrinks are suppose to happen later in the year.

On top of all that, Apple is trying to move the chip manufacturing business from Samsung to TMSC too.

So it might have a good screen (though there are rumors Samsung is planning to come out with an even higher resolution screen tablet in the first quarter too) but the internals might be right before some major revisions. Of course you deal with that every year in tech products but it would be kind of like buying a console and then the following year, they come out with the next gen for the same price.

But they have really no choice, I don't think extending the 1-year upgrade cycle of the iPad is a good idea. As someone who's been holding out though, I'll have to think about it.

What probably happened was a few people set these as contact names and then siri gave them the name of the contacts.

It's not possible without some 3rd party messing with your phone.

Exactly. You can enter phonetic spelling of names, so somebody had to put 'phuk' or something. I don't think Siri will even say 'damn' if it reads back a message, but it would 'daam' as a phonetic spelling of a contact name.

I see a lot of potential with Siri. Right now, it's a good hands-free message system, and a party novelty. When it messes up its interpretation of what you're asking it do, 9 times of 10, it would have been faster to just type it in yourself (when not driving).

This isn't a game app but it is very cool. Its called Voxer. I saw a video about it on CNN (link below). A former special forces guy made it. It turns your iPhone or android device into a walkie talkie. You can also text with it. It's very cool. You can talk live with people on your friends list. If they aren't near their phone the message is there for them in a text when they get back to their phone. Great for the car.

Stumbled across a game called Pro Football Strategy and I checked out the Lite version. It's a pretty fun football sim where you get to be the coach. I haven't played that much yet but the little I did play was cool. Here's the website. http://www.prostrategyfootball.com/

Wrote up some brief impressions on my blog, I like it a lot - gameplay is pretty much the same but lots of new tracks and a career mode.
