Battier over Mike Miller? ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Battier will fit in perfectly...great defender and can knockdown open shots. Pretty much the polar opposite to Mike Miller (last years edition).

That's true, hadn't thought about it like that. He will be a good role player and defender for them.dbdynsty25 wrote:Battier over Mike Miller? ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Battier shoots 43 percent on corner three's. Dude also is a very positive influence in the locker room. Plus he's the only human being with snow tire-like longitudinal grooves in his scalp.dbdynsty25 wrote:Battier over Mike Miller? ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. The new Michelin Man is taking his traction to South Beach. Very nice pickup for the Heat.

I'm happy with the Knicks signing Bibby. He's a functional, veteran point guard signing for the NBA veteran minimum salary. Gives the Knicks badly needed depth at the point.

PK - did you watch Bibby in last year's playoffs for Miami? He was absolutely horrible. I like him (how I miss that Sacramento team) but he's borderline terrible now.

Yeah...I'd take chalmers over bibby any day and for some reason the heat kept running him out there. He's the epitome of washed up...and he was two years ago really.
Tho the Knicks PG situation isn't exactly peachy, so I guess it may work.

Exactly. Douglas will start at the point, and Bibby probably is worth a $1.3-million gamble as a backup. That's chump change in the NBA.dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah...I'd take chalmers over bibby any day and for some reason the heat kept running him out there. NBA blocking second deal in the last five days involving Chris Paul, this time to the Clippers. If the NBA screwed Paul any worse, it could become a division of Stanley Tools.

I almost hope Paul is traded on the cheap at the deadline or stays in New Orleans for the season, leaving next summer as a free agent. That would be perfect justice against the NBA, seeing Paul leave for nothing.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Clearly the NBA wants to prove it's "new" system works by blocking all avenues out of NO for Paul. They want him to go to a team with cap room next offseason or to stay in NO for the longer, more lucrative deal. The current issue is that whatever team he is traded to will have virtually nothing left on their roster, thus making it pointless to make the trade. The NBA has the power over Paul...whereas they don't over Howard, so it'll be interesting to see if Orlando moves him.
This is definitely a strong arm move by the NBA to prove that their new system can work. So Paul gets to go to a mediocre team with cap room next off season (hello Phoenix Suns) or he gets to stay in NO with more money and an extra year. The choices is yours CP3.

Sounds like the Clippers decided the asking price was too high.
Can't believe they were willing to do the trade for just 2 years of Paul, especially if they had to give up that much.
NBA will talk about competitive balance as long as the ratings are decent when a non-glamor team wins in the Finals. Like it or not, the Heat probably made up for the lack of the Lakers in the Finals.
But it's all too easy when the ratings are down to help the Celtics or the Lakers, maybe the only two NBA teams with a national following like the Cowboys or the Steelers in the NFL, get maximal coverage, which means having one or both of them make it to the Finals.

Wow just wow, the officiating in the Heat - Celtics game has been horrid. The Heat have gotten all the bad calls to go their way. Doc Rivers has every right to be pissed. Good thing XXXIV is not into the NBA or he would be dropping F-Bombs at the NBA Refs.
Looks like Norris Cole was a huge pickup for the Heat.

Officiating in the Sixers Blazers game was a joke also. Sixers kept their cool battling from behind all night.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Yes I think they're a$$holes and one of the reasons they lost the title last year but I don't see that video as all that bad. Keep in mind and it was brought up in the Miami Herald is that they are selling the team to wealthy South American clients who want to come and see them play in Miami. Since the Big 3 arrived downtown Miami real estate has picked up especially, condo sales.
It's one of those videos if you dislike the Heat it makes you dislike them more. If you like them, no big deal.
I think the Heat found a potential star @ PG in Norris Cole. That kid can play.

LeBron is one of the most hated players outside Miami. But that means when the Heat are on national TV, it draws good ratings.
OTOH, Kris Humpheries is the most hated because of his brush with tabloid celebrity? Must be a lot of casual NBA fans

I've got no problem with Lebron or anyone else on the Heat.

I think the 'LeBron hate' era is slowing dying out. Plus, the Heat have been an absolute blast to watch this year.

I don't see anything wrong w/ the video, I'm sure most intro's these days are similar.
One thing I did see last night that I scoffed at was a commercial with LeBron to 'Wake Up' and stay in school.

Anyone catch Shaq on the TNT post game? he had a rough debut but finished pretty strong. I liked this skit :

Shaq is a funny, playful guy who knows the game. His biggest problem on TV will be his monotone voice -- it just doesn't work for broadcasting. He either must learn the art of inflection or hope audiences accept his "Are you Sarah Connor?" tone.

Usually they get coaching don't they on how to enunciate and so on?
With the money he must have made -- more than Barkley -- he doesn't need to do TV, so maybe he thinks his personality will carry him through.

Hope so. Shaq is well spoken, and anyone who sits next to Barkley will sound like a thespian. But Shaq's voice is so flat. I'm sure TNT is working on it.wco81 wrote:Usually they get coaching don't they on how to enunciate and so on?

Yep, that was outstanding. So was the finish of the Mavs-Thunder game last night. Two threes in the last three seconds, including the game-winner from 27 feet by Durant. And the less said about the Knicks, the better. New players, same problems. No defense or rebounding. STAT is the softest big man in the NBA.

Down 19 to Atlanta and D Rose put on a hell of a performance to pull out the win. Poor clutch free throw shooting opened the door.

Re: NBA Season 2011-12 Thread
Not exactly the softest but he's got some flaws for sure. The biggest issue is that now he doesn't fit on the Knicks. Chandler is Stat without the jumper. Great pick and roll guy who gets in the lane and does damage. How exactly do you have two of those guys on the floor at the same time? Pretty sure one needs to go...D'Antoni isn't going to be able to play them effectively at the same time. It's just a horrible combination. Couple that with Carmelo and his ball stopping offensive game and you are the exact opposite of an effective D'Antoni offense. Tough times ahead for the Knicks...even with BDiddy coming back, still don't think there is going to be a way to make it work completely.pk500 wrote:And the less said about the Knicks, the better.
