Are you guys making any other slider changes on AS other than this? Really want to get back into this game but had the same problem getting stuck between Pro and AS.
Nope, that's the only slider I've changed so far.

I'm playing on Pro & that's enough challenge for me (cuz i suck), BUT the AI, regardless of team, kind of does the same thing over & over. When the AI brings it down the ice, they basically take it along the boards to the blue line, then one of two things happen: 1. I smash the guy into the boards & take the puck or 2. He dumps into the zone before I can smash him.

So, is there a slider to mix up the AI's offensive strategy? It's my only (minor) complaint of this awesome game.

Honestly, play on All-Star. Pro allows you to do just that. Make the adjustment that Mizzourah is talking about and you may be fine. All-Star plays a really strong and fair game, but it is quite a jump from Pro.

Let's see if I can remember this...

I start with AS on the hardcore setting, and then make a few tweaks:

-up goalie cover to almost the max, because if I don't, they pass it right into traffic
-set pass assist to 2 clicks. Otherwise, I just can't get simple passes D to D, and I find the assist helps players recieve pucks better and get better chances
-up the teammate and AI penalty sliders two clicks, though even that doesn't seem to be getting me any PPs.
-yesterday I upped fatigue effect 1 click too. The AI let's their first line play the first 2 1/2 "minutes" of a period..... (I play 10 minute periods, so I realize this is really only a minute of "real" time, but shift length should reflect period legnth, not "real time".

I think that's it. I don't touch the strategy sliders for humans, because I'm a real man. ;)

I have a hard enough time playing the game than worrying about changing my strategies all the time. ;)

There is also a CPU strategy slider you can move up two more clicks, if I ever start winning a ton of games, I might up this a click or two. :)

Some Strategy that's worked well for me is setting the lines on 'OVERLOAD'.

That way I can cycle the puck around and can always get a good chance w/ one of my players behind the net and at least one other player in front of the net and goalie.

On Power Plays I always do Overload with my first PP line and get great chances at scoring.

Yes, but it doesn't seem to be that noticeable to me.

Anyone else think this game is graphically a step down from last years?

Well, in real life he's cooled down a lot lately, especially tonight vs the Sens.

Couple questions. Does raising the human strategy assist slider, or whatever it's called, adjust anything other than the defensive coverage (tight point, collapse, staggered)?

Does anyone use strict after whistle penalties? If so, is it realistic or just BS penalties because the AI decides to hit the goalie after the whistle?

I don't think so. (for the first part of your question)

It doesn't change the offence type or the breakout pressure? I thought it was supposed to handle "all" the strategy stuff?

With the code 2wg3gap9mvrth6kq, some alternate jerseys are unveiled including the Leafs and Isles 3rd jerseys, FLO white away jerseys and OTT's 3rd. Also the latest rosters cover the CHL teams.

I do like this game quite a bit, but I'm starting to feel like every team I play is the same team. Every team seems to try to bring the puck in from the sides and playing Philly seems no different than playing say, Detroit.

I get pumped to play a game in my BAGM franchise, but then come away with that feeling of "that's it for tonight" even if I win.

That's always been a problem w/ this series and I'm not sure if they'll ever address it. If they can make teams play different and like their real life counterparts, it would be a 5 star game. Each team plays the same style and sometimes the CPU Star Players are hardly utilized.

Yeah, I think this series is getting to the point where they need to make some serious gameplay changes so the game gets that fresh feeling again.

I picked up NHL 2k10 for $6 and with updated rosters and a decent slider set, the game actually has that different game feel to it, even if it's lacking in some areas where NHL 12 shines.

I have NHL 2K10 as well. I kept it around because it's something different than EA's game. Also it has a kick ass user community where you can go into 2K Share and download updated Rosters for this season. Parts of the game are broken, like shooting get's stuck when you're close to the net which is pretty annoying, but the Goalie AI is so much more better than EA's and a lot more fair. But I'm sort of getting tired of the game and was trying to sell it.

You should have pm'd me. I was trying to sell this game on ebay for 5 bucks and nobody bought it, LOL. I would have given it to you for free if I'd known :)

The fn stick lift in NHL 12 is borderline criminal online. Just ridiculous how much people get away with. I'm getting tired of it. I just want to play hockey and all I get are dickheads exploiting glitch goals and pulling all of the typical bullshit.
