Actually who do you talk to to buy the furnishings? I assumed it was the guy who sold me the house but no such luck.

Turning into a werewolf is all sorts of fun.

It is. But for me, I didn't get the dialogue options until I had read the decorator's manual in my inventory. I don't know if it was coincidental or not, but I didn't see the options, ran around, read the book, and then they were there.

Got bored with Saints Row the 3rd pretty quickly and jumped back into Skyrim last night.

So I've been putting a lot of upgrades into my mage's fire abilities, and was feeling pretty bad-ass walking around the countryside blasting everything in sight, taking down another dragon as well.... but then I come upon this freaky fire troll thing. I think it's immune to fire (makes sense) because my fire bolts did nothing.

For the veterans out there, what are these fire based baddies weaker against? Shock or Ice?

I completed a very long and very difficult (at the end) quest chain today that landed me with a sword called day breaker which is pretty bad ass. Except the thin gives off this annoying bright light when it's in my hand.

The two handed decapatation cut scene is pretty interesting. Then you have the head on the ground. :)

Holy crack…i mean crap…actually holy crack crap. I took the leap, plugged it in and three hours later I had no idea where the time went. And I only completed one side quest (i think it was a side quest anyway). Immersive this thing is for sure. Wow. For a game that wasn't even remotely on my radar in the least until yesterday, I am very very impressed. Here's hoping I can commit the time this one deserves.

Count me into the crowd that didn't plan on getting this game but took the plunge anyway. I got it for ridiculously cheap so I figured I might as well give it a try. Put it in 5 hours ago and have been playing nonstop. Decided to come up for some air. This game is truly great and immersive. All of the items available are a bit overwhelming at first, however I'm slowly learning what to get, equip, etc. The scenery is very cool and some of the battles I've encountered have been fun. I can already get a sense of how massive the game is. There is so much to do. Very glad I picked this one up. It has been a pleasant surprise thus far.

I've installed a few mods, if any of you PC guys are interested.

One is a new font, that looks much more Nordic, and less Fallout.

The other is just a little patch that lets the game use all of your system memory, instead of just the 2GB its capped out at.

And the last one is a graphics patch called the FXAA Post Process Injector. This one is crazy awesome. If you thought it looked good before, wait until you see this. The only thing I didn't like was the saturation was a bit high at first, but its all easily modified by editing a small file in notepad (and can even be done on the fly while the game is running!).

I grabbed them all from Skyrim Nexus.

Interesting. Thanks, Grant.

I haven't played much on the PC outside of the first day, but I might get back to it soon. I have my two nieces for the next week and a half, so I'll probably need to escape to my PC instead of the TV to play anything.

I'm looking for a PC mod that gives a free cam so I can grab screen shots. Know of any?

Danimal, if you go into the console (the ` key, next to the number 1), you can enter all sorts of commands and cheats. I know there is one that will do that, I just forget what its called. I think you can type HELP and it will give you a list of commands.

You can even bring back dead characters. I may see my long lost Lydia again! Actually no, I'll be staying away from the cheats. And also companions, since they seem to have a bad habit of walking in front of me when I'm fighting. See Svens arrow filled body for more on that story...

You do know you can get Lydia resurrected, right ? And I don't mean the Raise Zombie spell either (which is a riot in itself).

Dragon #3 went down last night. Joined the Companions and got sent to take out an escaped fugitive...only when I get to the godforsaken town he's near, a dragon is barbecuing him, extra crispy. That done, it decided to get stroppy with me, only all of the guards joined in with an arrow storm in addition to Lydia and my good self. Cue me absorbing soul and standing in front of admiring guards before strolling back to Whiterun to cash in the mission, while failing to mention the dragon part.

Well, they didn't ask how he died, and Lydia isn't a member, so I feel no remorse :)

Last night at 9:45, I told myself I'd play for 20 minutes. At midnight, I was forcing myself to save my progress and quit. I played again for two hours today. I have definitely succumb to
this brilliant RPG. Even worse, I can't pull myself away to play Uncharted 3, in which I'm only on Chapter 4. I actually returned it to Blockbuster today.

Question. How do you carry a shield and a sword at the same time? I cannot figure this out for the life of me. Last night, I was able to carry a dagger and shield, but never a sword and shield.
I know it's possible because I've been able to do it in the past, but it annoying the cr*p out of me.

Also, can those of you who are Nords suggest their preferred sword, armor, etc? I've dumped a lot of weaponry lately because I know I'm not going to use a weapon that has less damage protection than
another weapon. I assume I need to also improve my smithing also, right?

Thanks.

Go into your options and weapons. Highlight the one you want in your right hand and pull the RT.

Highlight the one you want in the left hand and pull the LT.

You equip items in specific hands, so if you keep pulling RT you'll just be throwing things in the right hand constantly.

Once the house is quiet tonight, I'm going to make a pot of coffee and burn some late night hours.

After sampling a few weapons with my Nord, I've decided to go with one handed axes and shields. So thats where all my weapon skill points go, one-handed and blocking. Its tough when you pick up a two-handed hammer that does massive damage, but with my skill now and a bit of forging I have a plain steel war axe that the Companions gave me doing 37 points of damage, no magic at all.

Being able to pick hands is sweet. I can do a heal spell, or use a shield, or a torch, all while keeping my axe in my main hand.

I just got done going through an absolutely MASSIVE dwarven dungeon built into a glacier. At least 2 hours and 2 levels getting through it, culminating in a nasty fight for me at the end, followed by a massive fight between two other people just after it that I watched, well until the winner turned on me. Then I was the winner. The whole reason I was there is because I need a key for some other place, and being at a complete loss thought I'd try it to see if it was in there. It wasn't, and there is one thing it won't let me do because I need an item (no doubt another quest somewhere), so I'm back to square one, although a hole heck of a lot richer for it!

Cool thing is, when I get back to the nearest town, a courier was waiting for me, to give me a message from a guy I did a previous quest for, saying that there were new developments and he needed to see me right away. And I didn't even mention the talking statue that wants me to find something for her...

Strange thing is, I don't really feel overwhelmed with quests like in other Elder Scrolls games. The quests seem to have better back stories, and just seem to fit better with a lone adventurer traveling the land, so its easier to stay focused and keep to the task at hand.

Ditto this.

I don't know why but most of them feel more natural because I am over hearing things or finding a journal etc. When I sit down to play I decided beforehand what kind of session it is going to be for me. It's either

- Wander around and explore
- Do misc. quests
- Follow a main quest

It helps me keep focus when I play for whatever reason. I still have an issue sometimes because I am conditioned from other games not to enter places before I should but that's not how you should play this game. I'm closing in on 30 hours and I'm just now exploring the second major city but I have done stuff my friends who have put in more time haven't. So far the quest I went on for Dawnbreaker was my favorite, the whole working for a deity thing was just fun.

I tried but couldn't get into Oblivion. Skyrim, on the other hand, has really pulled me in. One thing I am learning is that it pays not to keep overwriting the same save file. I've had to redo things a couple time because I went into an area where I could not go back and/or made a mistake. While there's obviously an overall story at play and a goal to shoot for, the game does not feel linear at all. There is so much to do and so many fun side quests that the game truly does feel as open-ended as any game I've played. The diversity in customization and sheer number of weapons and spells means that people can have very unique experiences. Time passes very fast while playing this game.
