Loving this game once again. I hadn't played it in a week and thought perhaps I was tiring of it, however I've now played 5 games in the last few days. I'm 3-3-1 with using the Blues. I still think the CPU gets cheap goals from time to time, but mostly it's my fault as I give up the puck in my end with a silly pass. I've had scores of 3-2, 1-0, and 5-2 most recently.

Ever since I put the cpu assists strategy slider on 2, I've been having fun again.

I'm sorry, it's the human strategy assist slider and the CPU has theirs on 2 so I put mine the same and it's really made a difference.

I don't even have to pull my goalie as it's done for me late in a game and down by a goal.

Lost 2-1 to the Preds in the home opener and for the first time ever I outshot the CPU team.

For those playing HUT, do you know how I can qualify for the tourney's with the age restrictions? Where do I check the age of my team? Like it says maximum age must be 30. How do I check that?

Finally got around to playing online versus and found a cool thing. Looks like with every online versus game, you get some points awarded to your HUT team.

Really? Playing online versus with real teams get you HUT pucks? I never knew this.

ya didn't know either. I played 3 games over the weekend, went into HUT, and the pucks lite up as Green with around 1200 more than I remembered I had. I played another online game to check, came back to HUT and it increased as well.

I also like on online versus how they give you a score at the end of the game and depending on w/l, it knocks you up/down skill levels.

Given that I only play this game online, I will have to try this. I have more HUT pucks than I know what to do with, but still, another carrot.

More in depth list...

Here are the release notes to our Nov 1st patch in more detail.

Jerseys/Art Fixes:
• Winnipeg Jets 2011-2012 jerseys, pants and socks
• *. John’s IceCaps jerseys, pants and socks
• Armada jerseys, pants and socks
• Cape Breton Screaming Eagles center ice text was spelt incorrectly

Be a Pro/Be a GM Fixes:
• Fixed a crash when using a created skater from creation zone as your own Be a Pro player and using them on a CHL team. Crash occurs when being drafted.
• Fixed Be a Pro’s performance tracker where some users would be stuck at 100% progression.
• Fixed a Be a GM crash when trying to select a created team when starting the Be a GM at the entry draft.
• Fix for goalie injuries while simming with injuries turned off.
• Game would crash while simming if a penalty was called in the second OT period or beyond.
• Game will crash if the user sims to next shift near the end of game and the sim scored on a pulled goalie
• User will not return to ice and no goals will be scored if the user sims to next shift in the 2nd OT period
• Fixed the crash that occurred in season mode that happened a few days in if the user selected to start the season using Full Roster control

Gameplay Fixes:
• Disabling of all buttons not used during net battles to fix net battles exploit (LB to break out of net battles)
• Improved the fidelity required to break the glass from a hit
• Rarely when the puck is on the sideboards, the goalie will go into vertical hug post and leave the far side of the net open
• Several physics improvements in regards to collisions with other players/goalies
• Players on the bench were reacting to the puck when the puck doesn’t go over the boards.
• Breaking your stick in Test On Ice will cause the stick to follow your player around
• Wingers are not picking up on faceoff tie-ups
• Improved interference penalty logic
• Fixed hip check exploit, will need a tuner update to re-enable for online play (tuner to come soon)

Online/HUT Fixes:
• The arenas tab is blank in the HUT collection
• Separated each position’s Position, Teamplay and Stat grades in the Online Performance tracker (Some users were saying that they couldn’t increase their grade. Now you can view your grade for each position and see that you may have A’s in one position but have C’s in another that are weighing your overall grade down)
• User’s Pro level was incorrect in the EASHL dressing room. It was always showing the goalie level and not the correct skater level.
• Entering an OTP/EASHL game locked as LW and RW would cause the RW to take the faceoff if the LW took a penalty.
• Force CPU players to serve the 5 min major for goalie fights
• Reduced the number of online pauses so that 4 or more users on a team now have 2 pauses and anything less than 4 has 1 pause.
• Fixed the missing player head/art issue for users who had the option to not allow content sharing for EASHL games. Playing with this on caused a crash when helmets were popped off, so we will be re-enabling helmet pops in EASHL/OTP in a tuner (tuner to come soon)
• Added logic on the server to detect whether your online BAP card progression matches what the server shows. If you downloaded a legend card from some website and used a tool to overwrite your save file, we will check what level on the server you should be at, and adjust XP accordingly.

Just had perhaps my best, most gratifying win online ever. Some dumbass was running his mouth the whole game (I don't use headset) and I ended up tying the game with under a minute left and then winning in OT. I actually knocked his one goal in myself. He even called me a noob at one point. I don't claim to be the best player out there but I have well over 600 online games in NHL 11 & 12 so I am far from a noob. I sent him a "nicely" worded message after the game. I'm sure I'll get a response :). I ended the message by calling him "Lenny" which is my favorite name for jackasses like him :D

Ya there are too many people like that.

My thing is I never use a mic so never get to hear the other guy.

but I get those sore-loser post game messages.

There's another EA HUT trophy up now, pretty easy though, pro settings, the German Cup.

I'm 9-6 playing on Pro, and while I'm not winning every game, I still feel like I'm dominating the CPU for three quarters or more of the game. I decided to play a season game on All-Star, and got my a** handed to me. It was almost unfair with regards to how well they passed the puck and got shots on goal. It the complete opposite and I half expected that, but I sure wish I could find that happy level where the game is fair but also is a challenge.

Turn up the human strategy slider two clicks to match the CPU setting on AS - I'm telling you, I sucked on AS and my record since starting over with new rosters and changing this setting is 7-2-2.

It basically allows the CPU to adjust your strategies during the game as it sees fit.

That did the trick! Just had a nail biter win against the Kings 3-2. I like that on this level the neutral zone is a little messier and just trying to set up plays is more challenging. Had a couple fist pump moments. I love this game!

Thank you!

Yeah, I wish I would have found this setting last year. :D

Glad to know it helped you too! Some games I out shoot the CPU and other games, they out shoot me... very challenging. Was just shutout 3-0 and then won 2-0 the very next game.

Well, I just lost 4-0 and was pretty much dominated, but it didn't feel scripted like when I played on default All-Star. I simply couldn't set up my offense and got very few chances against the Flames. I have to stop reading the OS forums on this game because the majority of the people pretty much despise this year's game.

The Flames are tough for me to beat to. I did beat Vancouver as one of the Sedin twins is out with a concussion.

Play 10 games and then see what you think.

The people at os who don't like the game also say they are playing NHL 2k10, which is a horrible game, so that that for what it's worth.

Calgary is my favorite team to use in online randoms. Nice balance and I love Igilna :)

I'm doing pretty well this year in my Versus. I 'm up to Level 13 now, never got that high in previous years. Calgary is hard to beat, you're right. I think 3/4 losses this year have been vs Calgary. Another team a lot of people use is Winnipeg, and they're pretty good to use too.

One thing I am seeing and not sure if you are online is that whenever I get a chance, some cheese players intentionally crash the net and dislodge the goal. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate cheating move but it's getting really annoying.

I've been getting a lot better with the puck lately. Using the A button (protect the puck) has made me, dare I say, lethal at times :D

Are you guys making any other slider changes on AS other than this? Really want to get back into this game but had the same problem getting stuck between Pro and AS.

I'm doing well on AS. I made only a few changes. I think i trurned up human pass interception a little bit and turned up poke check effectiveness. Other than that at some point it just clicked for me. My first 10 or so games on All-Star I lost nearly ever game, sometimes by a wide margin. I've gotten much better at staying in good position defensively and when on offense I often go behind the net to move the defenders around.

I'm really liking this game, more so than any past version. I think I'm 8-4-1 on the season. I started a season and lost the first three games. They just felt unfair, with the CPU getting a lot of those horrible angle goals that happen too often in this game. I decided to start over. I lost the first game but it was close and it felt fair.

I then went on the win 3 in a row, one of them a 10-4 game. That's when i turned down the periods to 8 minutes instead of 10. I guess I just figured things out at that point. I then lost 3 in a row but one was a SO. I was playing well but the puck just wan't going in the net. Now i'm back in the saddle. Just won a nail biter against the pens 2-1. Quick stood on his head for the win.
