Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
After playing the new F1 game for a couple weeks, I made the mistake of popping in GT5 last weekend. I haven't gone back to the F1 game since. I forgot how gorgeous GT5 is.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Getting the FM4 demo and hearing about the GT5 update got me in the gt mood again, and now I'm consumed with getting enough credits for the Ferrari 330. Beautiful car, and I want to race that class.lexbur wrote:After playing the new F1 game for a couple weeks, I made the mistake of popping in GT5 last weekend. Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Man, what an update! The new Vettel seasonal is ridiculous cool with all the xp offered up and the gift of the Vettel car is cool too. The biggest thing other than the in-race saves, though, is the massively quicker load times. The races load near instantaneously now. I sure wish they had that from the beginning. Not sure how load times could go from fairly long to so quick, but it definitely is nice to have now. Cannot wait for the the DLC on the 17th. Spa will be sweet as hell.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Yeah, I haven't played this game in a long time and it is a massive improvement. The A.I. is better(quicker in & out of turns) and a little more aggressive in overtaking and less drone like line driving. Yes the races load much quicker and was much needed. The physics is "WOW" the handling of these cars is great understeer and oversteer and balance shifts are great.
I think I may put a little more time with this game instead of the 4 or 5 hours I put in in Dec of last year.
Damn I just peeped the seasonal events those are pretty good. That damn redbull car is scary good damn does it grip the surface. Anyways Spec II is a very different game from GT5 from 2010.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Sony seriously needs to figure out for the PS4 how to deliver updates because the PS3 model is broken, even PC games don't require GB's of patches. I unfortunately had deleted the GT5 data and had to start over. I installed 1GB worth of patches and the third update aborts with an error, thankfully the first two were installed. I tried to restart the update but it just sits there.... NICE !
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
So I installed the game to the HDD then did my patches and now i'm asked to do the phucking install all over again even though my data file is sitting at 9GB. If I refuse to do the install I get an insufficient 32MB left of disk space message which I have to exit the game. Gotta love Sony they are the best.

A few pics of me getting it in GT5 Spec II is the business(next level)

The CPU ran me off the road trying to overtake me. What you have too see is this pic in 3D, awe inspiring, you can reach out and touch the debris. I like the fact that you can take 3D photos. If you look at the tires of the black ferrari you will notice how the tires get dirty.
Started this race in the daytime rain 10 laps with pit stops, very mental experience as well as physical.

Ended in the night(no rain) and watching fireworks is a beautiful distraction.

Seasonal event Redbull vehicle silver trophy 1:28s the online record is 1:03s to obtain Gold is 1:25s

Banging it out in Rome. Black and White photo

Point to point rally in Alaska

Loving the Spec II. It's the business.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Too bad the update still hasn't fixed some of the underlying problems. Was racing this morning and was distracted. Hit the front corner on a barrier and the collision physics were as off as always. More like bumper bowling than anything else. Collision physics (with other cars or track details) has always been seriously off in GT.
Also, since this update gives you the ability to save endurance races, I did start one of the races. Are the tire wear models way off? Was using a FR car and the fronts were wearing out much faster. Goes against all my experience with real cars.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Also the damage model while more sensitive only offers you three choices during collision (pull to the right, pull to the left or lose power). Depending on the impact will determine how hard the car pulls to one side. It's too predicable. Hell i've hit one side so hard that it pulled to the opposite side. I went ahead and hit the other side of the car just as hard and it pretty much straightened out the car.F308GTB wrote:Too bad the update still hasn't fixed some of the underlying problems. Don't get me wrong GT5 is nice but it feels like a lazy job by the devs which took what 5 years and 9GB of disk space although the new patch does speed up the load times drastically. That's a plus !
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Dang, that's the prettiest version of Spa I've ever seen in a video game!!!
Nice.
Nice.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
The new DLC with Spa is amazing. Also, a new update came out today that allegedly addresses a ton of things. I will dl it soon and see. This game just keeps getting more impressive.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
How do you get your stuff? I paid $11.99 and it activated two items but don't see the track. I had to purchase the other items separately. What a mess.
EDIT: The message I got after the 112MB update was the:
1) NSX GT500 Stealth Model
2) SLS AMG Stealth Model have been added to your garage.
Phuckers charged me twice, sweet gotta love PSN.

Yeah GT5, F'd up on PSN download. Those bastards did it in a crazy way. You purchase from the store and go in game to download at the menu screen with the download button, and to top it off it's a service not on your drive but on their servers. So if they ever shut down the Servers you may potentially lose the content. Let us hope they have future proof this content.Rodster wrote:How do you get your stuff? Call Sony and get your refund. I had to get my PS+ discount because at the time of purchase the content didn't reflect the PS+ member discount. I called Sony and they gave me the option to refund my wallet or leave the funds as a credit.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
I ended up buying it 3 times at full price before getting it for the Plus price.
The stuff wasn't showing up thru the in-game button for the first few hours.
Sony put the charges back onto my CC, which was pretty cool, I guess.

Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Yeah thanks, i'll do that Monday. I was real busy today and forgot to call. It's only $5 but geez a little explanation on to get your stuff would have been helpful. After I bought the complete pack all 4 items had the PSN shopping bag icon. Once I went into GT5 I pressed download content and it installed it. So none of that stuff resides on the hard drive?backbreaker wrote:Yeah GT5, F'd up on PSN download. Those bastards did it in a crazy way. Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
Even though it's only $5 Sony gave me the middle finger so no refund on the double purchases.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
I love that you can now quit and save the endurance races. I've always wanted to try those 24-hour races, now I'm finally doing one, the 24 Hours of LeMans. I started a week ago, I'm 16 hours in to it, 260 laps. I'm using the Bentley Speed 8. I'm four laps ahead of the second-place Pescarolo. The lighting effects have been awesome, from the sun setting, then the twilight, then about seven hours of pitch black, then the dawn started breaking very gradually. Very cool, and addictive. I've been lucky so far, no rain.
Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
this were my fave track/race in Test Drive LeMans 24 hours (Dreamcast), due to the elements you mentioned. Don't know if you ever tried the title, and how the two experiences compare..?lexbur wrote:I love that you can now quit and save the endurance races. Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Less than 2 months away now
I had the PS2 version of that game, which if I remember correctly, wasn't as good as the Dreamcast version. And it wasn't even as good as GT2 or GT3, whatever was out for the PS2 back then, so I didn't play it very much.vinny-b wrote: this were my fave track/race in Test Drive LeMans 24 hours (Dreamcast), due to the elements you mentioned. MotoGP rivals Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo -- both pictured in my DSP avatar! -- are battling off the track in GT5:

Haha. Lorenzo destroyed Rossi's time. That is a sick time that Lorenzo put up btw, especially with no driver's aids.

New update brings better tire degradation amongst a host of over improvements, The support for this game is phenomenal.F308GTB wrote:Too bad the update still hasn't fixed some of the underlying problems. Well they DO have another ten years before the next version releases...so they've got plenty of downtime.backbreaker wrote:New update brings better tire degradation amongst a host of over improvements, The support for this game is phenomenal.
