looking forward to trying the demo.

My issue with the 2K series has always been the complexity of the controls...especially
the post game. You needed to be an octopus to pull off some of the post moves in the past.
Hopefully they made the game more "pick up and play" this year.

My biggest issue with the 2K series is the loss of control of the PG when you're not in player lock. When I score a basket my PG is not at center court but under the their basket. So it throws my defense off and I get serious mismatches until I press the change player button enough to get control of him. That's if their PG still has the ball. It's a random thing, doesn't happen 100% of the time.

Gonna be sweet...seeing as how it's the only hoops we'll see all year. Good thing they have a ton of different modes with all of the legends, because playing a season is going to get old quick with no real hoops going on.

OK, I've been playing this game for 4 straight days, on the PS3.

1. They've reduce the jaggies to almost nil, this is a good thing.

2. Colors are not vibrant as 360, but I'm cool with that has more of a flesh tone to them.

3. The A.I. is crazy good, almost human like.

4. Custom Music works on the PS3 this year, last year was 48% this year 92% like it should

5. Playbooks, understanding your player type and assigning him the appropriate floopy is paramount.

floopies are

3pt, post high, post low, P&R ballhandler, cutter ect...

you can pick and choose plays from each team to add to your playbook, but assign the right floppy. I.e. a PG 3pt, mid range P&R ball handler. He will have access to all those plays in that floppy.

6. in game strategy is ever clever, up on the direction pad is camera change, to the right(off) player specific plays or best play, left strategy i.e. space floor, crash boards ect..

The controls are fluid responsive and now you understand that you did that move. They are branching and breaking. I have found hidden moves the signature gathers are L2 + RS in any direction and before the move ends(timing) push or pull in the opposite direction. Makes for some spectacular moves, and these moves can be stopped and branch to other moves.

This is my proclamation so therefore it is true. This game will go down as one of the best A.I. games of all times.

If online is bad, the CPU A.I. will make up for it, I promise.

In basket ball a floppies are a set of plays assign to a position or player.

I just read what I wrote and the spelling and grammar is all F'd up. My apologies, writing while a little tipsy.

Ahhh.. those were the days!

I ordered it.. was going to wait as I don't follow the NBA much, but after reading reviews and impressions, how can I NOT get it?

My pro or whatever it's called should be something I can get into since I don't know a whole lot about the NBA.

PS3 version, don't know if its in the 360 version.

The Fatigue slider is backwards. The players do not get tired. I kept reducing and reducing the fatigue slider to no avail, got all the way down to 20. I then started going in the opposite direction and they start to get tired at a good pace around 60 to 70 on the slider set.

Things to look for, custom music on the PS3 is the same as last year all F'd up, the saving grace is they have some great arena sounds already.

adjust your vertical slider, some of the guys jump out of the building.

Be prepared to get blown by, by good to great quick or explosive guards. You can head them off at the path if you're quick enough on the triggers and sticks holding L2+R2 and moving the LS in the direction of the offender should head him off at the path, but if he has good anticipation he will cross you and go the other way. It takes a while getting use to it, but once you start stopping them with some success its rewarding to reroute the guard and watch the CPU A.I. run another play.

Speaking of plays, man does the CPU run them at a good clip with a variety of looks. Each team has a specific play style i.e. playing against San Antoin is slow and methodical, vs Golden State they are a blur and other teams in between.

I don't like that 2k took away the situational in game on the fly coach in favor of freaking cameras. Who changes cameras on the fly while playing a video game? They do have presets for some of this stuff. Like I mentioned before 1. focus on stars 2. lock down paint ect... You may forget you have selected one of these presets and wonder why are your players double teaming some inept center well you locked down the paint.

In time outs, its great to select your shooter, inbounder and play type.

I cheated to get the legends, just wanted my match ups sooner than later.

1 minute quarters on rookie setting, now I can go back and play how I want to and or chose the matchs up I want Nique vs Jordan Magic vs Bird then on to the next round.

Speaking of legends, you guys will nod with a grin saying yeah that's Bird or Mchale. I must say Visual Concepts have signature style down too a science. The only one I see in the game that really doesn't replicate his play style is the old George Gervin instead of being a great shooter and layup artist at his advanced age(playing along side Jordan and Woolridge) they have him dunking like he was in the ABA, which were many moons ago at that time 19885/86.

OK, after all this time after getting fatigue slider right. I have found the visual cue of energy drain. It is the light blue half circle within the dark blue circle. Now I can see the bar drain.

NBA TODAY just went live about 15 minutes ago and its pretty good.

Found this out on OS

You can move the inbounder around the baseline by using the RightStick(RS)

And a helpful gameplay tip

To avoid getting abused by pump fakes by players driving in the lane. Instead of using the jump button, use the RS to contest the shot. It will raise your hands and leave your feet on the ground.

I tried out upload to youtube via the share media, after I created a highligt reel, here's a quick clip.
