If I have to do s*** to make it run faster... then it's a disaster.

It's been well reported that it's the hardware that's letting this thing down. Some guys got it running on the iPad and clocked it going faster.

Well you're not reading the right reports then aka FUD. It's responsive for those that have 2 minutes to spare to make it hum. And that's without loading Preware. So it maybe a disaster for you but I have no issues with the hardware. It's plenty fine.

Since HP pulled out of the market yeah it's a failure but sucks to be you because if you had read the multiple links Jack and Javi posted it was 100% clear it wasn't hardware that brought the machine to it's knees it was software i.e. all the data logging HP insisted on. So the FUD reports you read were wrong. The hardware was and is fine once you remove the software bottlenecks.

Sure but we didn't pay $500-600 for that luxury. It cost us a whopping $100-150 to have a nice performing system. I think that's called a zing !

Yeah I can't count the number of links you posted and they all said the same thing, it's software not hardware that makes the system feel sluggish. Gotta love the internet with all it's misinformation. The TouchPad is very responsive, opens programs quick, browsing the web is fine, plays all of my Live TV streams very smooth and the games I downloaded run great.

Can't help someone who thinks that's sluggish. And yeah I would be pissed if I had to tweak a machine after I spent $600 but it was $150 so no complaints.

How many games need a little tweaking to the settings before running better? Every piece of technology becomes a little better if you are willing to invest a little extra time. If you want everything to roll out of the box perfect, you will be disappointed more often than not.

I think I ran into that. Open the browser and check settings for password related stuff.

I think my volume button was installed backwards lol.

If I press the right side of the volume control it lowers the volume. If I do the opposite it increases the volume.

So when people say webos is the only multitasking tablet operating system, does that mean the ipad can't even play music and do something else (like me typing away in this forum right now)? No music and web surfing? Music and game? The only time I have spent time with an ipad was my mother-in-laws, and I never tried to walk and chew gum at the same time with it.

By the way, having the touchstone and keyboard makes the TP an awesome kitchen appliance. Too many mistakes for me with the tablet keyboard, and having real keys is the way to go.

Also, something I stumbled on that I didn't see elsewhere is the ability to minimize cards without having to press the bottom button. Put your finger down in the lower left corner of the screen and quickly flick up/up and to the right.

I'm not sure what basis there is to say WebOS is the only true multitasking OS, though it does it slightly differently.

Yes, you can listen to music and while doing other things on the iPad, and it works pretty well actually. Also, after a few iOS updates in the last year, programs will continue to run in the background (until your device runs out of memory) and you can quick-switch between them without having to launch them anew every time you go back and forth.

WebOS does it a little differently, and when you hit the home button it brings up a display similar to Alt+Tab on Windows.

Either way things run in the background and you can switch between them in both OSes.

You absolutely can multitask (do all those things) on an iPad and it runs as smooth as butter.

If my order had gone through earlier, I'd have a Touchpad now, but the iPad 2 is one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

iOS only allows certain services, like music streaming and turn directions in a GPS app to be running in the background.

The UI isn't really designed for multitasking because every app. runs full-screen, no windowing system like in desktops.

This is for optimizing battery life as well as get the most out of minimal RAM. It's also to simplify the user experience, which is also why there's no direct access to files and folders. The iPad is suppose to appeal to preschoolers as well as older people, who can have problems with traditional computers.

webOS multitasking probably appeals more to enthusiasts, who expect the desktop computing experience to be transferred to tablets, even with a tradeoff in battery life.

Doesn't matter because if one uses it for the web and the basics you can get a lot of mileage from it.

Of course it matters. If you get bored of only looking at Digital Sportspage you're going to want more. Sure you've got a Tab 10.1 (allegedly) so you can do more, but once the luster of the "deal" wears off you're going to realize you have a paper weight. Might take a little while, but it's coming.

Sorry don't buy it. Last time I checked DSP is not the only website on the net. You can surf the web, read books play some games, listen to music on the TouchPad. You can do that until it quits working. For $150 it's still a fantastic buy and if they get Android on the HP TP then that will extend things even further.

And yes I do allegedly own a Galaxy Tab, still have the receipt to prove it.

With the camera on top, volume up is pressing the top of the button on the right side (i.e., the end closer to the camera and power switch side).

I kinda got the fever to find one of these about a week ago (either for me to give to my parents). Then I messed with one at work Friday. Yeah, no thanks. I'm way too used to iOS at this point and the thought of telling my parents "yeah, it doesn't do that" over & over would be even worse.
