Yeah I read there's an Android app for that as well. What i'm referring to is streaming Live TV from P2P sites.DivotMaker wrote:If you are referring to streaming ESPN, I have a free app on my iPad2.....Rodster wrote:Can you do that with the iPad 2 or like you said does it require an App purchase?

Is there a file explorer, or can the folders only be managed when connected to a PC via usb?

Mine too. It works, the the video is hardly "flawless"F308GTB wrote:Are you getting a flawless stream? My audio is great, but the video tends to lag/freeze.Rodster wrote:I should have elaborated. I can play ESPN3 on my HP TouchPad with no app required. It won't play on my Samsung Galaxy Tab unless there's an app i'm not aware of. Also I go to websites that have links that stream Live Sports. The HP TouchPad plays it flawlessly.
Re: OT: WebOS Tablet Thread
I didn't see any "file explorer" on the Touchpad. If u just connect it to your PC via usb cable, you can access everything though.matthewk wrote:Is there a file explorer, or can the folders only be managed when connected to a PC via usb?
I still haven't found how to transfer files TO the touochpad thru USB and Explorer though. For example, I copy a pic (jpg) file to the folder that has other pics, but when I go into the Touchpad, it's not there??? Anyone know how to do this?
I did transfer some pics via www.box.net, but that takes a little longer.

Maybe ESPN3 performance depends on the speed/quality of your internet connection?Rodster wrote:Nah no issues for me with ESPN3.F308GTB wrote:Are you getting a flawless stream? Yes, its called Internalz Pro.matthewk wrote:Is there a file explorer, or can the folders only be managed when connected to a PC via usb?
You need to install it through Preware, I linked the article earlier in this thread on how to install it.
This will let you install homebrew apps (like Internalz), patches, fixes etc on your TP.
Can't stress this enough, new TP owners need to install Preware. It's the equivalent of jailbreaking your TP but with no need to hack firmware, void you warranty etc etc.
It has some patches to help improve performance, free games (legal) all of them not available on the HP app store.
Let me know if you have any issues.
BTW, 1st order of biz when booting your TP is the instant update to 3.0.2.

Re: OT: WebOS Tablet Thread
I'll have to try Preware. I already got the 3.0.2 update, and disabled some of the logging to help speed things up.
Jack - I've been able to use the USB cord to connect to both my laptop & desktop and transfer files without any problem. I know that one of the apps I bought requires a reboot of the TP in order to see the new files. Maybe that with help with images. I was able to move a few jegs and an MP4 movie and all were recognized by the TP.
As a first time tablet owner, the TP is great. With the web browsing, movie & image viewing, comics app, and kindle app I've already got my money's worth buying this.

Just watched that Hitler vid. Overkilled meme but that was solid. "Bring me my ePad." LOL.
Still groping around in general for getting my set up the way I like, but I installed preware and I am looking for a good ebook reader. The kindle app doesn't let you load your own books without jumping through a bunch of hoops, and I tried pReader but it is ridiculously slow.

As far as copying files, what folder did you copy your jpg's and MP4 movie to? How do u know what folder to copy to?
Also......HBO GO works great, but u just have to do it through the browser, since there is no app.
I saw somone on E-bay selling new 16 G TP's for $230 ea. Still a good buy vs a $600 Ipad.

good forum for TP's
http://forum.webosroundup.com/index.php ... uchpad.20/
How to watch Hulu and NETFLIX on your TP!!!
http://forum.webosroundup.com/index.php ... chpad.750/
you have to use playon TV on your PC ($5/mo) but seems like a pretty good idea if you want to watch sports
on your TP while "pretending" to watch reality shows with the wifey

Re: OT: WebOS Tablet Thread
I created a folder at the root called Data and then sub-folders for images and movies. The TP recognized them on it's own. I didn't do anything to tell it where the files were. I was using the image and movie viewers the TP came with, not a downloaded app.JackB1 wrote: As far as copying files, what folder did you copy your jpg's and MP4 movie to? So after you copied them via USB to the "data" folder, you disconnected the cable and then opened the PHOTOS on your TP and it was there?matthewk wrote:I created a folder at the root called Data and then sub-folders for images and movies. I haven't done these steps yet, but I didn't see anything about using a phone. Once preware is installed, just install a few patches from preware.JackB1 wrote:I saw that, but to disable logging he had to use his phone also???jLp vAkEr0 wrote:

Yeah. Thanks Matt....I just read in the manual that you should copy files via USB to the root. I'll try that.
Re: OT: WebOS Tablet Thread
As the resident Apple fanboy, I felt the need to ensure that my passion was defensible and not born out of ignorance (as so many anti-Apple opinions are), so I grabbed a Touchpad from a co-worker for $170. Add that to a few weeks working with Android, Windows Phone7, and of course years with iOS and I can say with certainty that my positions are well informed...
WebOS is full of potential, with the only UI that approaches the elegance and design cohesiveness of IOS, and which brings some fresh ideas to the table. The cards system and gesture management are great, and the centralized account integration is superb. It falls apart on the lack of performance, applications, and polish.
The biggest problem is the lag in responsiveness that pervades the experience. On an iPad, you FEEL like you are directly manipulating physical objects via touch..no other platform, Android included, has yet nailed the performance of hardware/UI to that degree. It's subtle, but noticeable and distracts from the use experience.
the lack of applications makes the Touchpad a good browsing device but it feels single-purpose, while my iPad feels like a whole world of options. Even finding a good RSS reader is not easy on WebOS.
my hope would be to see Amazon scoop up WebOS and finish it, but it looks like they're entering the Android race.
Android reminds me of Windows 3.0, a rip-off of Apple's ideas, with a handful of fresh ideas, done in a scattered, ugly, unrefined yet unfettered, unrestricted, and geeky way. WebOS is an inspired attempt to move past Apple's ideas, but falls short on implmentation. Windows phone 7 is like Linux...marginalized by 2 giants.
after a few days of use I am confidently, comfortably and content in the Apple camp. If you notice misspellings, its because I'm typing this on an unresponsive Touchpad with an infuriating keyboard.

I don't see how anyone can make the case for the touchpad over iPad2. The form factor is indisputably better, the unit has drastically quicker performance, and due to the selection of apps that software available completely demolishes what you'll find on the touchpad.
For $100 though, as a cheaper option, the touchpad is a great buy. I set it up for my wife with facebook, kindle and freecell and now I can kick her off the iPad!

If both the Ipad and Touchpad were $600 then no, you couldn't make the argument. But when one is $99 and the other...$600. It's no contest or the TP, IMO.Naples39 wrote: I don't see how anyone can make the case for the touchpad over iPad2. If you use preware and all the kernel tweaks, the TP's performance is fantastic. Yes, the Ipad's App market COMPLETELY blows away the Droid's and the TP's...,
but for $99 you get an awful lot of good stuff with the TP. PLUS, when that Android Port comes...and it will....the gap will close even more.
Re: OT: WebOS Tablet Thread
Yeah I agree with Jack. Comparing the 2 on equal footing then the iPad 2 is the better choice but when the TouchPad is $99-149 then the TouchPad is the obvious choice.
Where I kind of laugh is when I see people buying these things $300 on Ebay. At that price i'd buy a Galaxy Tab which is the best Android Tablet or an iPad 2 for another $300.

I see plenty of new touchpads on Ebay for $230. I still think it's the best Tablet you can buy for under $250.Rodster wrote:Yeah I agree with Jack. Comparing the 2 on equal footing then the iPad 2 is the better choice but when the TouchPad is $99-149 then the TouchPad is the obvious choice.
