People are trying to get $250-350 for them on eBAy and Craigslist.

And there are people stupid enough probably to go for it.

Oh they are definitely going for that much...all the time. At that point you're WAAAAAY better off getting a real Android tablet that actually has the hardware to support the OS fully (like a GPS antenna for one). Such a joke. For 100/150 to browse the web on the couch, that's one thing, but wanting a real Android tablet from the crappy HP hardware is asking quite a bit.

There are still some Best Buys out there that will get deliveries today or tomorrow so if any of you guys live close
and still want one, it's worth a shot. That's how I got mine.

I take it you didn't buy any extras for DSP'ers who are looking for one. :)

The nice thing about the TP is capacitive touchscreens with IPS panels, which is not always a given.

GPS would be nice but most tablets being sold are probably Wifi, which typically do not have GPS.

All the Android based honeycomb tablets (Galaxy Tab 10.1, Xoom, Iconia, Transformer, Thrive) have GPS...with or without a data connection besides wifi. And the IPS on the Touchpad has been tested to be worse than even the Xoom (which is horrendous when viewed side by side with the Tab 10.1)...so yeah, there's that.

Tested by whom? Xoom isn't IPS, which is considered one of the best types of LCD.

GPS works without data? Or you can cache some of the maps?

They were tested by a few different tech sites...I'll see if I can dig up a link for ya. IPS may be the best, my Tab 10.1 says yes, but when your IPS is compared to the Xoom, that's a bad sign as the Xoom was pretty poor overall.

And yes, GPS works without data w/ google maps. You can cache routes and places of interest before you leave the house. It's badass.

I just got my TouchPad from onSale. So far I like it. One thing I like is the keyboard as opposed to the Android keyboard. You don't have to switch back and forth between numbers and letters.

Screen wise, I haven't had a chance to check the brightness although the Galaxy Tab does look better. I'm trying to do a system update but it keeps dropping out. I checked the screen brightness and it's pretty bright. The front glass has a smooth feel to it. It does feel different to the Galaxy Tablet, I read the TouchPad uses gorilla glass.

This is HEAVY for a Tablet, whoa but feels strong. The WebOS feels somewhat intuitive without even reading the manual. So far it's a SOLID $150 purchase. Yes the Galaxy Tablet is better (gotta say that or DB's writers cramp will wear off) :)

But seriously this is a decent Tablet especially at the discounted price point.

Gotta keep trying, this happened to me when I bought it and it took a few tries to get it installed.

Update servers must be getting hammered this days for obvious reasons.

I recommend you install Preware and you install the speed patches availabe trough the app.

I couldn't. They only allowed you one each.

Rock on...just got a 20 dollar Barnes & Noble gift card for the inconvenience of ordering a TP and having it cancelled by them. Now that's customer service.

I finally got the update and yeah it makes a difference lol. I didn't think the Tablet was sluggish but it's even more responsive after the update. A few things I like over my Galaxy Tab. The keyboard is laid out like a regular keyboard. I can stream Live TV to the TouchPad, the Galaxy Tab would not let me do that. I like the feel of the screen glass over the Galaxy Tab.

Yes the UI is different but it's not too bad. Still haven't figured how to drag a shortcut to the main panel. :?

You do know that there are about 50 different keyboards you can use on the Galaxy Tab (Android in general) right? The Thumb Keyboard destroys any other tablet keyboard I've seen.

As for the OS...no one said it was bad. It just didn't have a chance by starting off exclusively on Sprint. Hell, I've got a Palm Pixi Plus as a backup/backup phone sitting in my drawer. I like the OS...the hardware is pretty average overall though from a tablet standpoint and their phones were pretty much crap. They had no chance really.

This just proves that you don't read most of what I write (even when I'm answering you directly) because every person in the Android thread that asked what they should download first, yourself included, I said Thumb Keyboard. So yeah...you wonder why I get writers cramp? Now you know.

Thanks for the link. I picked up 5 out of the 6. Kung Fu Panda was of no interest. I love reading about birds and that App is freakin HUGE 790MB 8O

I got nervous towards the end. I was worried I would hit the purchase instead of promo code button.

I gotta say, I really love the WebOS. It has TRUE multitasking where apps stay open until you close them.
WebOS is very intuitive and it's a shame they couldn't do more with it. I did some email and web browsing
with my TP last night and it couldn't be more user friendly. Could be the best $99 I ever spent :)

100% agree with you Jack.

After playing around with the TP since Sunday, I've grown fond of the OS.

I mean, it has some quirks, it's not perfect by any means, but the ease of use, the way you interact with the OS, it's my favorite of all mobile OS.

Really a shame that it went down this way, but let's be honest, we only know of this 'cause the damn thing is $99 ($150).

Jack, did you install Preware?

What is "preware"? I haven't installed anything yet...just did a WebOS Update so far.
