Had three excellent but exhausting games of NCAA chess with Terry yesterday... Pretty intense s***.... I was actually tired after
The good lord was smiling on me as I actually managed to win one of them bringing my all time win total vs TC to 2!
Hate to sound like the EA fanboy after all the abuse NCAA seems to be getting lately but I really dig this game.
Dan too bad you wont be running an DSP OLD this year.

Re: NCAA Football 12
Yeah, that was great fun. I was still astonished at how quickly I could get into a rut and force passes and start throwing picks if I misread something.
That was a great win you had. Was fitting that it would come on a late interception

Re: NCAA Football 12
I started a dynasty with San Diego State while I wait for the patch before I start my real dynasty with Syracuse.
This game is just a lot of fun! I lost my opener to Tulsa, then beat Army and Washington State (The final score was 9-7....a great defensive struggle the whole way). My last game I got my butt handed to me by Michigan 33-0. Robinson just torched me on the ground.
I don't have any complaints with the gameplay this year. Last year whenever I needed yardage, I knew I could hit the slant routes for an easy gain. This year, most of my picks have come from trying to force a throw on the slant route.
I also started a RTG as a QB the other nite. I can see how that can become very addictive. I won my first game, but then lost the second . I was down 14-7 but had the ball on my own 14 with just over a minute to go. I think my old high school coach must have been calling the plays, because they called 5 consecutive runs before we passed on the final drive. I got the ball down to their 20 but ran out of time.

Re: NCAA Football 12
More RTG shenanigans inside of 2 minutes of the first half. I have a 3rd-and-long that I convert only to punt on 1st and 10. WTF? This is the second time in 5 RTG games that something like this has happened. The timeouts are poorly called as well. They take the ball down to 1st and goal-to-go with a little over a minute to go in a tie game. We both have 3 timeouts and they run the ball twice and call a timeout after each run instead of making me call my timeouts. They end up scoring the go-ahead touchdown with about 50 seconds left and since I didn't have to take my timeouts I am able to tie the game. If they had made me take my timeouts like they should have I really don't think I would have made it down the field to tie the game with only 1 timeout. Add in the fact that it is way too easy to pass the ball in the middle of the field and this game is starting to go south for me. Especially after playing the Madden demo.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Re: NCAA Football 12
I was in BB last night and picked this one up again, I love college football too much to put all my eggs into the Madden basket.
Would be nice if the patch was out though..
One question for those of you playing, is the CPU rush game any better? That's my only main gripe with NCAA of seasons past (well penalties, but that will never be fixed) I'm always #1 in rush defense.

You are going to have to bump the sliders. But if you do, the CPU can run all over you. But on default, it is still pretty easy to shut the CPU down.MizzouRah wrote:I was in BB last night and picked this one up again, I love college football too much to put all my eggs into the Madden basket.

Agreed...Im playing on AA with slider adjustments and the CPU has had a very good running game against me. In fact last night I got torched for a TD on a 43 yard draw play.Aristo wrote:You are going to have to bump the sliders. But if you do, the CPU can run all over you. Re: NCAA Football 12
Is it a simple slider adjustment? I don't like tweaking much, so if it's one slider I can move I'm all for it.
Re: NCAA Football 12
How's RTG in this game? Is it much different than in NCAA 11?
Re: NCAA Football 12
Much different, much more streamlined...much better. Full HS season now, rather that just playoffs. Iron Man play (both sides of the ball), and the way you earn your spots at the college level is great. You can also stink it up and endanger your spot after you gain it.

One thing I didn't like about RTG (first time I tried it was with NCAA 11) was that if you got the 2nd string spot on a top 25 team you could quickly move up to Starter in no time. The other thing that bothered me was even if the Starter was lighting it up on the field it made no difference as long as you practiced.
One thing I wanted to see if you stunk it up in Practice they should have taken away points from your Leveling Up. I hope they changed that in N12 or made it more realistic.

Re: NCAA Football 12
I'm afraid you will be disappointed then. The mode is clearly set up for the gamer to play games as much as possible. Even as a pretty middling recruit with my first QB, I stepped on as VA Tech's starter as a freshman, and VA Tech was the highest rated team I qualified for. With my second QB, since I knew what I was doing, I am now getting scholarships to Alabama, Oklahoma, whatever top team I want, with quite a few HS games remaining.Rodster wrote:Thanks brother err Mr. Wup Ass !Teal wrote:Much different, much more streamlined...much better. It's definitely not a realistic mode for hard core role playing. You become a superstar talent pretty easily and they clearly want you to be playing games as much as possible.
And I'm still frustrated that the defensive camera makes defense unplayable to me. I wish I could choose to play defense with a normal camera, or at least one a little more zoomed out so I can actually play.
Re: NCAA Football 12
Completely different experience for me. Got an offer from Auburn, but it was fourth string RB. Worked my ass off for a season and a half to get up to second string, and it took me 3 tries to beat out the starter. The points DO go down, as well as up. As long as you do reasonably well, you won't lose your spot, sure. But on the higher difficulty levels, I'm sure it could happen. I don't do the upper level difficulty. I have a hard enough time on the default...lol.

Thanks guys, should have mentioned I was playing QB as well. Yeah that was kind of a bummer and put a damper on the RTG mode for me.
Re: NCAA Football 12
QB is too easy. You run the entire show, really. Do RB. Or if you REALLY want a challenge, do corner on D. I can guarantee you, from experience, that you won't go up in the lineup quickly...

Would I get a similar experience starting a RTG in NCAA 11?Teal wrote:QB is too easy. You run the entire show, really. Do RB. Or if you REALLY want a challenge, do corner on D. I can guarantee you, from experience, that you won't go up in the lineup quickly...
Re: NCAA Football 12
Only thing that holds you back as a QB is throwing picks. Otherwise you will skyrocket through each challenge up to the next string.
I am playing a few different ones now. I'm into my sophomore year with a wideout playing for Ohio State, and I can absolutely dominate games--if my QB gets me the ball. My freshman year I was tearing it up and we were in the top 5 in rankings. Then all of a sudden we start losing game after game and I realize somewhere there my starting QB had been hurt. We finished the year outside the top 25, and now the starter and the scrub backup are both gone...so now my sophomore year has been riddled with passes 5 yards out of bounds, 3 yards over my head, underthrown, overthrown, etc. It's infuriating to have all the ability in the world and watch your QB ignore you when you manhandle a corner and have 6 yards of separation on him. Or worse yet, throw it out of bounds because it was so poorly thrown.
RB is fun, but kind of the opposite. I took a shot with Tennessee, and I'm the motor for the offense. They pretty much ride me into the ground down the field, but I always end up coming out in the red zone. I guess my stamina is shot. I have a gazillion yards, but like 5 or 6 TD's...all long gainers. I enjoy RB quite a bit, but I'm not going to really advance until I finish my wideout and then a defensive guy.
And on defense, I've tried both SS and MLB. SS was pretty fun but I'm apparently horrible at staying in my backpedal and not letting somebody by. I have a tough time judging where the ball is being thrown, and the camera twirls around so fast if they get behind you that it's very disorienting. I had to learn how to keep everything in front of me, and not trying to force my way into making a play. I got better as the games started going, but I'm not even done with my HS season on that one.
But with an MLB, I am tearing it up. My last game was a 12 tackle, (5 TFL), 1 FF, 1 INT, 2 sack game. Pretty cool that you can fly through gaps without suction blocking as a linebacker. I'm finding even if I don't get a 'stat hit' on a play, blowing through the line on a blitz and forcing the QB to throw a duck early leads to turnovers. So I may not always have the juggernaut game that I had last match, but I'm always impacting the defense. However, my offense sucks so bad that I still manage to lose games 6-3 sometimes.
I really, really love RTG mode. I've never seen any of the "converted but punted anyway" situations in well over 100 games. I constantly see bad clock management, though--but it's been like that since the mode was invented. If there's a situation where you could have run out the clock, the CPU doesn't. It runs a few plays and punts, even if there's like 12 seconds left and the clock is running. I've actually lost games that way, where they punted and it was returned for a TD in the final seconds. That's infuriating, but it's pretty rare that it swings that badly in the span of a few seconds.

I've been using a modified version of SN's sliders from OS. Here is a good post that makes it easy to compare the main sliders being used by folks.

My strategy is to use the sliders of someone I trust, or seems to have the most people buying in. Then I tweak it to what I want. Then I pretty much stop worrying if it is perfect.
I've been playing my MLB 2K11 franchise lately, and today I tweaked a little when I saw that most of my starting line-up was hitting .350 or better. I didn't feel the need to start over. Weird streaks happen in sports. I'll tweak them to get them into a normal range. If after 10 games or so I see a glaring probelm, like too many HR's, I will tweak that down. But mostly, I just play.
Re: NCAA Football 12
Did the 2nd patch ever come out for this game?
I had not played in 3 weeks and played the Madden demo a lot, but went back to this last night and was reminded how great of a game this is. The Madden Demo has made me a better passer in NCAA.
That being said, I hope Madden turns out to be awesome and I'll keep both games.
