To what, 3.2? No idea. Not really any big features added, so I'm not in that big of a hurry. Samsung has a tendency to be a bit slow when it comes to updating compared to Motorola, but we'll see.Rodster wrote:Back on topic. DB any word on when the Samsung Galaxy will get an update?
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Yeah I meant 3.2 for the Galaxy Tab. I just checked and there wasn't anything available.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Understood - but this isn't a court of law - it's a sports gaming forum. It really destroys any kind of welcoming vibe when people are digging up Twitter posts to be used in arguments against people. That's sort of a negative usage of social media, and just goes against my moderating likes. It's not the use of quoting someone's twitter feed, but more the using it to piss someone off and get in someone's face - that's what I don't like. (Jack's post is a prime example.) Whereas, if someone has a question about an opinion in a Twitter feed in a normal, civil discussion - that could be acceptable.GTHobbes wrote:Probably because I've been banned for it too, but I don't understand the "social media stalking" charge at all. As an attorney, part of my job is to use other things that people say in other places. It's not like twitter is private, after all. I'm not even on twitter but I still like to read what other people say on there as a source of information. If I see something that Jack says on twitter, why can't I ask him something about it here, so long as it's in a thread on the same topic? How is it any different than taking something that someone says in one thread here and bringing it up in a different thread here? If you say something on twitter, in this day and age, is it unreasonable to expect you may hear about it later? I know the bottom line answer is that it's Jared's board and he can do whatever the hell he likes, but I don't understand the reasoning for it at all. I can see where making fun of someone else's photo is crossing the line, though.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I brought my Galaxy Tablet with me to Mickey D's. I don't know if it's a novelty, thing but it is pretty cool and beats having to view DSP on a smartphone.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Hey any of you guys experiencing random "Force Close" on applications? It's getting pretty annoying. I got one when booting up my Tab and trying to use the web browser. Is this normal for a Tab? I downloaded a bunch of free apps. Is it possible they are trying to start up services that could be causing this problem?
I just rebooted my Tablet and instead of using it right away I gave it a minute and so far no issues. I wonder if i'll need to do that from now on?

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I did get that a couple of days ago and made sure nothing running was unusal, it hasn't happened again since.Rodster wrote:Hey any of you guys experiencing random "Force Close" on applications? I'm using mine more and more, the apps are starting to come and I find myself spending hours with it, especially late at night in front of the TV.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Thanks Mizz, yeah I haven't had another force quit since I let the thing sit for a minute before using it. I'm digging this device more and more.
There are two things this device needs:
1) Allow you to use the Tablet while charging unless there's an app I don't know about. If not Samsung should do a FW update to allow for that.
2) Hulu doesn't work/not supported. I even updated Flash.
One of my favorite Apps so far is Tunein. A very solid FM HD Radio and you can tune in around the world.

Huh? I plug mine in to the AC Adapter and use it all the time. What the heck are you talking about?Rodster wrote:1) Allow you to use the Tablet while charging unless there's an app I don't know about. If not Samsung should do a FW update to allow for that.
And yes, force closes happen occasionally, depending on the quality of the app.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Wow I have NO idea what the hell I was doing, it's charging now.
I think where it got locked with a USB symbol was when I plugged it into a USB port on my laptop. DB, I did get a Force Quit when I started the default web browser. But now that I just let the thing sit for about a minute I haven't seen anymore force quits. I've been uninstalling some of the really problematic apps.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I got a chance to stop by BB today and I got to check out the Toshiba Tablet. The Galaxy Tablet is much nicer looking whereas the Tosh Tab has a rubbery backside and is really thick. It's only $20 cheaper for the 16GB model.
If you don't want to buy adapters for this or that then the Tosh Tablet looks like a good choice.

The Thrive looks like a fisher price tablet. No thanks. If you want thick with all the cconnections definitely go with the zoom.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
The Thrive has a huge software problem with the tablet not reawakening from sleep mode, forcing a complete reboot. Complaints are rife on Toshiba forums and in user feedback from places like newegg.com and BestBuy.com.Rodster wrote:I got a chance to stop by BB today and I got to check out the Toshiba Tablet. Toshiba acknowledged the problem, with no prediction of when a firmware fix will be released.
Not the most auspicious debut into the Android Honeycomb tablet market. Too bad, as I'm one of those guys who would like the built-in USB, HDMI and SD card slots even if the thing was a bit beefy.

PK have you played with the Motorola Xoom? It's pretty sweet and has some of the things that the Tosh Tab has. It even got the first Honeycomb update.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
No, sir. I'm not really in the market. Would love to get a tablet, so I like to keep an eye on them. But I have no true need for a tablet. So I won't buy one.Rodster wrote:PK have you played with the Motorola Xoom? It's pretty sweet and has some of the things that the Tosh Tab has. It even got the first Honeycomb update.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Happens all the time for me because I didn't sign up for a Samsung sharing account. I just ignore it.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Just the opposite for me db. I was getting it with my Samsung account enabled. I deleted the account so i'll keep an eye on it to see if it comes back. I'm just reporting it every time I get one. After I posted this I Googled the problem and found that it's an ongoing problem with others.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
And if anyone wants to get a 4G Tab, VZW will be selling starting..probably now. If you want one its available for 529.99 for 16GB and 629.99 for 32GB. I will also advise that it does take a smaller sim card as well.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
A Samsung tweet says the update should be coming soon. I like the idea of the Mini App tray.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Interface skins suck for the most part, especially Samsung's. Pass. I'll stick with stock.
The mini app tray is just something to eat up processing power...you're better off creating a folder on the desktop and launching them that way. Much more efficient.

For anyone that doubted Apple being the market leader here you go.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
The xoom was a flop. I bet the galaxy 10.1 has already outsold it and the lead will be even bigger now that the ridiculously awesome 4g LTE version was just released. The fact that the xoom still isn't able to get the LTE upgrade is just proof that Motorola jumped the gun in releasing it. Still a nice device but the Tab pretty much destroys it.
Hell...the 7 inch tab is probably even better.
