Re: NCAA Football 12
Why is it so difficult for the devs to implement much better crowd atmosphere? Didn't they tout this as an improvement this year?
Re: NCAA Football 12
I think they must have meant the improvements in the pregame festivities. I skip over that stuff after the first time I see it, so it would make more sense to focus on the in-game atmosphere.sportdan30 wrote:Why is it so difficult for the devs to implement much better crowd atmosphere? Crowd seems plenty loud to me depending upon where you are playing. What exactly are you looking for?sportdan30 wrote:Why is it so difficult for the devs to implement much better crowd atmosphere? Didn't they tout this as an improvement this year?

Re: NCAA Football 12
I'm thinking back to both the demo and a few people who have commented on the crowd atmosphere. Now, I know the demo is not necessarily indicative of the full retail version, but there were several instances when I was playing with Oregon against Texas that the Texas crowd was pretty much silent while Oregon was moving the ball. It just seemed out of place because at the beginning of the game, the crowd is in a frenzy, especially on Oregon's first drive. It just doesn't seem to translate well over the course of the game.Danimal wrote:Crowd seems plenty loud to me depending upon where you are playing. Others have commented that they can't tell a distinct difference playing at a big football school vs. a smaller school. The crowds sounds very similar in terms of noise. I just think these things shouldn't be too difficult to program in. NBA 2K does a great job of implementing crowd noise at the right time, and MLB 11 does to a lesser extent.
If you're not going to have improved broadcast (albeit a few new lines), the least they could do is kick up the crowd atmosphere a few notches, instead of just one.
Re: NCAA Football 12
far as atmosphere (the crowd). Based on my experience, the crowd in NCAA 2011 seemed fine to me.

The $64 dollar question: Is it worth $59.99 plus tax?
Especially for someone who still has NCAA 11.

un-officially, $39.99 (if you like Amazon).Brando70 wrote:The $64 dollar question: Is it worth $59.99 plus tax?![]()

Re: NCAA Football 12
Looking over at OS (2300 people in the NCAA forum today!) one thing I didn't like was that the no-huddle offense is essentially the same as the hurry up as in previous releases. While I liked NCAA a lot last year, it drove me nuts playing against CPU teams who ran the no huddle because it was so unrealistic. I had hoped they would fix it to be more realistic this year.
I'm likely going to wait until Madden comes out, see how that is, and pick one. Although the number of deals are tempting.

Re: NCAA Football 12
That was my dilemma. NCAA 11 is a great game and NCAA 12 feels very similar as an overall package. For me, the Amazon deal of 39.99 was tough to pass up, and the upgrades to the game were enough to justify spending the 39.99, knowing I could get at least 30 of that back on a trade-in if I didn't like it. Basically, what you are getting with 12 is updated rosters, ability to customize conferences, better CPU offensive output, less suction blocking and tackling (there is still some there though), an improved ground game, and the other features EA has been touting. If you do not care about that stuff then I would stick with 11. I'm happy with my purchase of 12 so far in that the gameplay is improved somewhat and I think creating super conferences could be a lot of fun once I am through with my regular dynasty.Brando70 wrote:The $64 dollar question: Is it worth $59.99 plus tax?![]()

One thing I am a bit disappointed in is that the new uniforms and stadium changes are not reflected for some of the teams I have checked. They just went ahead and went with last year's unis and stadium configurations. It's not a huge deal, but it sucks if your favorite team's stadium and unis are not up to date.

Lets not forget that he gets to play me as part of that Amazon deal.vinny-b wrote:un-officially, $39.99 (if you like Amazon).Brando70 wrote:The $64 dollar question: Is it worth $59.99 plus tax?![]()

Re: NCAA Football 12
My response to that is yes. It plays totally different without the suction and the way tackling works etc. I guess if you ddin't notice that in the demo though then you may feel it is not worth it. I just played a game at lunch and was pleased as piss to squeeze out 58 yards rushing all of them earned and when I broke a 17 yarder and watched my WR actually turn and go upfield and block the right guy I was happy.Brando70 wrote:The $64 dollar question: Is it worth $59.99 plus tax?![]()

Game just plays a lot better, looks like real football on the hits etc so to me that is worth it.

I have decided not to pick this up. Now let's see if the ride home from work agrees.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

My wallet, and the echo that reverberates therein, has dictated to me that I will not be buying this any time soon...nor anything much else...

I just ordered today, still received the $20 promotional credit at Amazon, but also took the free shipping.. so it's going to be a few days for me, which is fine as I won't play until the rosters are out.

The thing that stands out the most to me is the cpu running. They run like a human opponent. They are weaving and making the right moves, a good runner against you now is tough to stop. I also like that occasionally a coverage gets blown or a man just gets whooped. I put a CB on press coverage on a Mizzou guy (I was Illinois) and the CPU hit a bomb on me, I went back and looked at the replay, he went for the chuck, the WR fought through it and blew past him.

How do we embed EA video on this forum? or does it not embed here anymore? I was able to do it quite a few times in the past.
Got a couple of highlights uploaded from a little practice game I played before lunch. Really enjoyed it.

Re: NCAA Football 12
Been messing around with Road to Glory. It is much improved! Playing both ways with my player is hella fun and adds a new dimension. I am actually getting more recruiting points at MLB than QB. I also love the new recruiting process. I'm 5 weeks in and have a nice array of schools looking at me now. RTG is harder this year which is a very good thing. You are more limited in playcalling and getting out of plays. You can't just rig the game for your player and rack up stats. The opposition is also a little tougher, which can be frustrating if you are trying to dominate. I am 4-1 so far. Lost a game on a last-second fg, lol. The improved RTG mode now makes me extremely glad I picked up the game. I did not realize how much better it would be with the changes. I cannot wait to finish my HS season and move on to college. I can see myself spending more time in this mode than any others over the long haul. Good stuff.
Re: NCAA Football 12
Agreed. I thought initially maybe some of the broken coverages I was seeing were AI issues, but they are not. The more I play the more I see variety in the way the CPU controlled players operate. Sometimes they play things like they should, while other times they screw up on the exact same play, just like in real life. The running game is the main thing that sold me on this game initially. There is a night/day difference on the CPU running game compared to 11 the more I play. I used to have zero fear of good running backs. That has changed, lol.Danimal wrote:The thing that stands out the most to me is the cpu running. They run like a human opponent. Ahhh what the heck. Just ordered from Amazon. So basically, it includes a $20 credit for a future purchase plus the game guide?

Go to hell. I was going to hold off until I saw this. Dammit.

Re: NCAA Football 12
How do the two versions compare graphically? I'm repairing my 360 and awaiting parts for it, was thinking of buying it for the PS3.

From what I read, the retail version looks better than the demo on the PS3, but it's not significant. I much prefer the PS3 controller for football games. Then again, I don't have a choice of what system to get it for!Rodster wrote:How does do the versions compare graphically? Re: NCAA Football 12
I noticed the improved tackling and lack of suction in the demo. Nothing felt canned or automatic. Are these going to be in Madden this year? If not, I may cave to NCAA and pass on Madden just for that.
Oh, and does Madden have the defensive player lock? I love using that just for the different view it provides.

Re: NCAA Football 12
I'll be a son of a b*tch. Just lost a RTG game on a last second 94 yard TD run by the CPU. That would have not happened ever in 11. Positive thing is I had 8 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles on defense and good stats at QB so I am being offered scholarships by several good schools at both positions. I'm tempted to do my next RTG at the iron man position (general athlete) and see how that turns out.
