Badgun wrote:db someone told me to be sure and download the Amazon Market as they have a free paid app every day. I searched Amazon and found nothing but a couple of 99 cent apps to remind you about the daily free app. Im assuming the Amazon Market must be limited to the phones only?

Now don't get me wrong, I love the tab in just the few short hours I've tinkered with it, but I had no clue that the android market was so anemic in the app department. No HBO GO, no Netflix, no ABC app and no Hulu +.
Are all of these apps in the works or does apple have some kind of exclusive on them?

I downloaded the Dolphin browser and like it far better than the default one. That True Blood live wallpaper is absolutely amazing as well.

So far I am very happy with the purchase and can definitely see the freedom this thing gives the user over the ipad. I plan on keeping them both as they are vastly different in some ways.

Oh and db, thanks for all your help and input, as Mizzourah said you are definitely one of the most helpful people around.
HBO Go is available on Android...they are just porting it over to Tablets, so should be here this summer...as well as Netflix and Hulu. Not sure about ABC.

As for Amazon App store...it's pretty great. Once it's downloaded and you launch it, there's an App of the Day at the top as Vader mentioned.

I prefer the default just because of the full syncing across platforms using Chrome (Mac, PC and Tab) and the bookmark management is outstanding on the default. Using the Bookmark widget with folders and stuff is fantastic.

And you're welcome. Good to see some people giving Android tablets a try. They have limitations as I have mentioned, but being that it's a completely new OS (that's a whole six months old), they've done a damn good job and it'll only get better.

It actually is a chrome based browser BTW. Full syncing across platforms being the best thing EVER.
I stand corrected! And unlike your Samsung Tab disciples, I still think you're an asshole. :) :) :)

Just got my Tablet via FedEx, charging up the battery first. This thing looks sweet. :)

Holy Moly not to gloss DB but he's right this thing is freaking awesome. Hey db once you remove the icon to the trash is that it or do I need to empty the trash? When the screen goes to sleep is the only way to get it back by pressing the on/off button? I tried tapping the screen but nothing happens.

F*** Apple, Android all the way :)

There is no "trash can" like windows. All you're doing is removing the icon from the screen. The application still resides in the App Drawer (top right corner). If you want to actually uninstall a program completely you have to go to settings > applications > manage applications > pick the one you want to get rid of and select uninstall.

Yes, the only way to wake it up is by the power button. However, I suggest downloading a program called "no lock" so that you don't have to do the "slide to unlock" thing. No reason to do have to do that with a tablet unless you're using a security code or pattern. No lock just eliminates the lock screen so when you press the button, you're automatically on the home screen ready to go.

Thanks !

I download "No Lock" and "Antivirus", both were free and both shortcuts are on my desktop. Do you prefer putting them into the apps screen to keep the desktop uncluttered? If so how do I move them?

Long press on the icon. You can move it or delete it. My screens definitely aren't full. I like organizing them based on how often I use them.

Why, not needed? OK I didn't install it, do I just drag it to remove without installing it?

nvm I just uninstalled it.

Hey you guys mentioned that you can't access DSP from the Galaxy Tab. Am I missing something? I was able to get to the forums, didn't login though.

Yeah you're missing something. Reading comprehension. :)

From the Xoom thread so you can try one more time:

Other than in the browser, the typing has been fine. It's a pretty big issue tho...and luckily the forums I frequent all are fine, or have tapatalk (DSP is fine in regular browser, OS is tapatalk, Android Central is tapatalk, XDA Developers is tapatalk and so is head-fi).

My bad. :)

I downloaded the owners manual from the Samsung website, it's pretty thorough.

Edit: as others have mentioned the Tab has some weight to. I don't know what I pad feels like but this does not feel cheap. OK I switched to the Droid keybd, where are the arrow keys.

I just got my Samsung pouch and it does look really nice. :)

Hey db when you uninstall an app like I did with the antivirus app do I need to worry about leftover files or is it like Apples OS where if you uninstall something it deletes EVERYTHING?

Very impressed so far, much quicker loading thing than I thought it would be.

Now if my 9 year old daughter would let me have some time with it! :)

Need some more free app suggestions, have angry birds rio, going to get the ones db suggested.. what else?

Also, I know I had to create a gmail account, but I use outlook for my personal email at home, looks like I can set that up? I doubt I will use gmail for anything besides having to set it up for the tab.

Very light, screen is beautiful and I'm really impressed with how sturdy it feels in relation to how light it is.

.

When it's deleted, it's deleted. All gone.

And anyone looking for the official Samsung pouch...if you've got a Fry's Electronics near you, or a CompUSA...they both carry them in stores.

Also, no idea why Friend Me says it's incompatible Mizzou...using it on mine right now.

I just discovered a Droid app called TuneIn which is a free app with radio stations from the US and around the world.

http://tunein.com/mobile/android/

I just tried it and it's sweet. It even lists HD stations. Just make sure when you're done you stop the service as it runs in the background. :)
