I guess I can see that as I have wanted to slap him for two straight sundays and come to think of it.... I wanted to slap him during the Fellowship of the Ring. :P

There's an extra feature video on HBO Go where Martin talks about how Ned's actions are driven by his idea of honor.

He gave Cersei a chance to leave with her children so that Robert wouldn't kill them all but that gave her a chance to outmaneuver him.

Martin said earlier in his life, he saw children of conquered leaders get killed and he didn't want to be a part of that again. That is why he was willing to leave King's Landing rather than ratify the murder of Dany.

Turns out he was right. The abortive assassination made Drogo determined to invade whereas before, he didn't really want to go to war.

Hmm, you would think if Westeros had a navy ...

I broke down and watched it on the pc. Even though it wasnt quite like viewing it on my 46" Samsung, it was still pretty good on the HD monitor.

Anyway...even though its a spoiler thread I wont be spoiling...It was another excellent episode.

Its going to be a long 11 day wait for next one.

Ya if the story is good, it doesn't matter what you watch it on.

I got to say, Pappy Lannister seems like a bad ass - loved how he was slicing up that animal in the beginning of ep7.

The sex doesn't excuse Ned for being such a naive idiot.

Martin says in one of the extended feature clips on HBO GO that Ned has this blindspot about protecting kids, because in some events before what the season 1 of the series is showing, there was a massacre involving kids.

That's why he was so vehemently against killing Dany.

So he tries to protect Joffery and other bastards but he may have endangered his own children.

Khal Drogo is a bad ass.

That is all.

OK maybe it's not all. Anybody else seeing Rob Stark's transformation that's a lot like the Khalisi's? It's like we're going to have 2 young-and-timid-kids-turning-into-crazy-powerful-leaders by the time this is done. The fact that they're on opposite armies should prove interesting.

Looks like the final 2 episodes will be really good.

I like the enuch basically telling Ned in the prison what I posted last week about Ned being a moron. Someone had to tell him.

What a great series this has been. I think this one may surpass "Boardwalk Empire".
Different kind of show though so it's hard to compare, but every week this show
seems to get better and better. Anyone read these books? Does the show follow
the book exactly or is it just based on the books? Anyway, the books must be great
too if the show is this good.

The show is following the book pretty darn closely, though they had to bump up all the character's ages because our cultural expectations are different than the medieval society of the books (Daenerys is 13 in the book, which would be creepy as hell on screen). Sometimes this makes the teenage characters seem more emo than childish, but I adjusted to that pretty quickly.

If you like the show I can't recommend the books enough. More detail, more background info, more fleshed out adventures (Tyrion and the Hill Tribes is super condensed in the show, but Shagga and co. are great characters in the book) and the like.

Me and my wife watch every epoisode at least twice, sometimes 3 times. It's that good and
you often get something you missed the first time.

We also turn "subtitles" on when watching....helps a lot.

I am also now totally fluent in speaking "Dothraki" :)

It's all fun and games until someone gets their tongue ripped out!

I have been completely sucked in by this show in a way I haven't been since Lost. I liked that they threw a little gas on the White Walker fire this past week.

So there are two episodes remaining in this season?

Let's hope it doesn't take the same trajectory as Lost.

In fact the showrunner got into a little ruckus before the first episode ever aired when he said the series would not be like Lost.

In fairness, not true. Among Ned's peers, chiefly Circe, the deal (as distasteful as it was to Ned) would have been honored. This ought to have secured, essentially, his children's safety. But Joffrey reneges to everyone's surprise and against the wishes of his mother. Ultimately, this is likely to lead to Joffrey's undoing as it is often easier to win the throne than to maintain it and he just steeled the Starks fully against him.

Yes hes the fool punk king.... Bad move... They had the victory in site with Ned's coerced confession. Now with the prince of incest Lanister in the Starks possesion it looks to be nastier yet.

I didnt expect that from HBO. Knocking of one of your stars in first season. I havent read the books but I am glad they are following them. I could only imagine how that would have f***ed up the story if they found a TV way to keep him alive.

Great episode. Looking forward to the next one and to seeing this one again off of On Demand.

Wow...just wow. What another unbelievable eposode! This series never fails to deliver.

I was also amazed that they killed off one of the main characters, but it will make you think
that anything can happen at any time. Ned paid the ultimate price and for what? Revealing
the truth about the origins of Jeoffry? And what a horrible thing to do right in front of both his
daughters, not to mention his future wife, who will despise him now forever. Even his mother
was shocked by his actions. This just builds up the hatred for him and I'm sure the Starks will
even the score at some point.

And the other big story...Khal looking like he is dying from his self inflicted wound. What the hell
was going on in that tent with that horse? You guys thing a "healed" Drago will emerge? Poor
Khalisi...she isn't getting any respect with Drago on his way out. Again...great stuff!

"Deadwood" had a similar 'main character' demise in season 1. Sometimes you don't realize who the 'main characters' really are until later on.
