How much space do the downloadable games take up? I have a 40G PS3 and only have about 20G of space available.

When is the deadline to claim these freebies?

I tried the other day but got errors. Must be a lot of people trying to get games now so prefer to wait a bit.

Keep trying that's what I did. It would error out and i'd immediately try again. Typically it's takes anywhere from 8-10 tries. I believe the cutoff off date is 7/3/11 but don't quote me on that. It's on the welcome back page when the offers expire.

Infamous is 7 GB and Dead Nation is around 1.5 GB. Infamous seems fine, but I love Dead Nation. It's a twin stick shooter that doesn't kill you in one hit and is more about shooting enemies than avoiding them, and that really appeals to me because I found Geometry Wars and Super Stardust HD too hard and annoying.

I'm really enjoying Dead Nation too, as I grabbed that for one of my free games. It's really too bad that sony doesn't have trials for all of their digital dlc titles like Xbox Arcade does. I would have bought this one sooner had I been able to play it.

On that same note, has anyone tried Under Siege? Looks interesting, but the reviews are mixed and since I can't try it myself...

Went ahead and activated my free PSN+ this week and got Braid for 3.75. Now I see what all the fuss was about -- tremendous game! I have not completed it yet, but so far this game is a work of art IMO. The level and puzzle design are really good and the graphics and sound are awesome. Best 3.75 I think I have ever spent on a game, lol.

Well, my ps3 will not accept games or movies anymore - they will not load into the machine.

I'm going to contact Sony first and hopefully there is still warranty on the unit. If not, I believe I'm protected by Amazon for up to 90 days, although I've contacted the seller too.

Worst case scenario: It becomes your primary Netflix streaming machine. :D

Mizz if you bought it secondhand forget Sony they won't help you. Their warranty only pertains to the original owner and only under rare instances to they fix a secondhand machine.

Well, I filled out an online service report and they are sending me a box and say it's under warranty, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

LOL so the Move fails and it's time to emulate the Kinect?. Maybe you should try something new since motion gaming isn't really taking off last I checked.

Earlier model.. I'm assuming it goes by serial number? Not sure they would send me a box if it wasn't under warranty?

They'll send you a box either way. If it's not under warranty they'll call to tell you how much it'll be for the repair which usually involves another refurb unit. If you decline they'll return the system back to you. If they decide to charge you i'd send it off to Gophermods. They do PS3 repairs and have a good reputation.

Well the Move is selling pretty well now, so I don't know if I would call that a failure. The Kinect has exceeded expectations big time. The Wii has broken all sorts of records. Motion gaming is clearly a money maker, so I would not say it has not taken off, especially since it is in its infancy in relative terms.

Here's a quote from a recent article:
The NPD data also unsurprisingly shows sales for motion-controlled games increasing significantly between April 2010 and April 2011, after the release of the PlayStation Move and Xbox 360 Kinect controllers. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/3545 ... _Sales.php
My take is that all three console makers are going to implement motion control next-gen primarily to expand their base of potential customers. Hardcore gamers are going to want to stick with the more traditional controller method of input, but more casual gamers and nontraditional gamers obviously like motion control (look at the sales of Zumba, dance games, etc.). There's a place for both traditional and motion control in the competitive video game market now. I seriously doubt MS and Sony will try to replace traditional control with motion control, but simply make it an option like they have been increasingly doing. If they try to make motion control the primary input method on all games then I think they will fail, and they know that. It's about appealing to the broadest market possible in their mind. Since motion-controlled games are still relatively new in the big picture I anticipate the technology will only improve and make for more appetizing motion-controlled games. I prefer using a controller on most games, but I'll have to admit there are several motion-controlled games that are very nicely done (The Fight, SOCOM 4, Killzone 3, etc.). Having motion control as an option takes nothing away from SOCOM and Killzone played with a controller. I think that will continue to be the case going into the next generation, and it will make good financial sense to do so in broadening the market base.

Looks like Sony is going to be rolling out PSN Pass according to Eurogamer which is similar to EA Pass. You get a code to access the online portion and if you buy the game secondhand you have to pay for another code.

The Eurogamer article is only speculating. The information taken from the leaked pic of the Resistance 3 box is a bit ambiguous.

Sony is supposedly going to revamp PSN in the coming months, so perhaps this is merely reference to the new PSN. It'll be interesting to see if Sony goes the way of EA with some of their first-party games and what effect that will have on the used-game market of those games.

Wasn't Madden's sales down the year they implemented this online pass scheme? Not because of it but would be interesting to see what the average selling prices of it was and the used game prices, how many people actually bought online passes, etc.
