Anyone interested in a NCAA 2005 XBL League?

Post by bdoughty »

Only 2 months away and with a game as popular as this coming to XBL I thought we should start preparing one. Just trying to get a feel for how many would be playing, what team you want and the format.

Also would anyone be interested in a league dedicated to DIV 2 teams?

I put in dibs for Oklahoma (DIV 1)

If people are interested in (DIV 2) I would like to use Montana.

I guess I will put my request in for the boys up in Tallahassee, good old Florida State.

If there is one thing that chaps my hide about NCAA, no chief osceola.

I thought a bunch of team selections had already unofficially been made:

It's likely I would be interested in an NCAA league, but I won't even begin to contemplate it until I have the game in hand.

I can also say that if a league is made up of top-5 or top-10 type teams, I'll just skip it.

I'm sure Pacuca will be running one again for DS'ers, and that league has been a blast in the past. If we're going with second-tier teams I'll take Arizona as always.

I'd definitely be interested.
I'm not sure what teams were claimed so I'll put my top 3 in order of preference.
1. LSU
2. Tennessee
3. Southern California (USC)

Division IAA, none other than the defending champs...the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens.

Not interested anymore...f'n Steve.

Ah hell, gimme Arizona State.

And I agree with Zeppo...according to the games rankings, we shouldn't be able to even take top 25 teams (whatever EA ranks them). I think I'm safe with ASU. :)

I'm not saying anyone should or should not do anything. I am saying that a league that has the top-10 teams in it is not one I will be in.

I'm interested but not sure if I will have the time yet. I would like the Northern Illinois Huskies if I'm in.

Illinois. No problems with that whole "Top 25" thing. LOL

As in the other thread, I'll take Mizzou.

Has anyone posted a listing of the available I-AA teams in NCAA 2005. I might be up for a I-AA league as well.

I guess those not wanting to play against top 25 teams can play in a DIV 1-AA or other league. I prefer to play in a league where people can use a team they support no matter their ranking.

Here are the DIV 1-AA that were in last years game.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/standings?groupId=81

Atlantic 10
Gateway
MEAC
IVY
SWAC
Southern
Patriot (?)

I might have missed one but those are the biggies

Also I have no issue with multiple people using the same school.

Just for completeness' sake:

<-- Auburn
but really, this is 2004, and nearly everything is considered to be gay now

Thanks, BD. According to the press release they added Southern and Ohio Valley for a total of 78 teams this year.

I'd take fair Harvard.

OK I'm relenting on my whole 'no top-10 teams' position. It's unfair and stupid of me to deny people the chance to beat the crap out of me with their alma mater, or the school they grew up loving, or whatever. I just need to do a better job of picking a team that nobody wants that can still win.

Bd I am an idiot.

Let it be known, however, that I am willing to get the crap beat out of me in another "B" level team league as well; I may even take Air Force again, maybe the option is better executed in the game this year. . .

Honestly some of my favorite all-time NCAA games are in those lower groups, where teams have like one or two guys that are waaaaay better than anyone else on the field. Or, they only run 4-wide all the time, or can only run the option (ahem). That's a big part of why I love the game.

But it doesn't get any better than beating Miami. . .

Since I'm about 95% sure this is going to be my football game for the year, I might as well jump in.

Would like to be either Oregon or Minnesota, depending on how I well I can play with either :)

Wouldn't put Purdue out of the picture for me either...

can you tell I really don't have a team that hasn't been taken (Irish)?
