ToCA Monday Night Medium Length Race

Post by Zeppo »

DSPers:

I am postponing the start of the league until next week. DChaps is going to do the record-keeping and stat work for our league, and I want to make sure he can be there for the start of the league. He is unable to race tonight, so we will try to get the league off the ground next Monday.

So, tonight I would like to run another Medium Length Race Test, if any are interested. It will be the Supercup cars at Surfer's Paradise. There are two cars to chose from in the class, so that could spice it up a bit. And with all those walls, we may see plenty of damage, which might make pit stop decisions a wee bit more interesting.

James_E will host tonight, so we have room for 10 (besides myself and James_E).

Go ahead and post in this thread if you want to be involved in tonight's test. The first 10 wil be considered 'in', with any after that considered 'alternates.' If you are not sure you can make it, then go ahead and post and let us know that you want to be an alternate.

10:30pmEDT will be the time to get together. I will send out invites to those who are 'in.' As of 10:40, invites will be sent to the alternates if there are any free spots. Soon after that we will start our 10 minute warm-up period (remember this is all unranked, so you can quit out of the warm-up if you get bored).

Close to 10:50 or 10:55 we will run our 2 lap Qualifying Race, to be followed by a 5 minute break.

Then, close to 11pmEDT, we will drop the flag on this 1/2hr. race.

Again, I am sorry for the delay in the start of the season. I am hoping everything will work out so we can begin our Formual Ford Series next week.

See you all tonight! Should be fun!

Fellas, looks the TOCA medium race has already filled up for tonight. I'll still be on at the time of the race and we can do an alternate round for those that didn't get into "Race A" :).

Only problem is, I can only host 5-6 people comfortably. Anyone else able to host more that would be willing to try an alternate race?

OK gang, a quick update:

Right now, we have these folks definitely in:

1. Blublub
2. TCrouch
3. Slumberland
4. K Moss
5. Webdanzer
6. Spooky (of the Oooky variety)
7. Slimer
8. Carl Jr.
9. JackB1
10. Bozo

We also have as alternates:

Spooky (of the 157 variety)
Jbodin

Others feel free to sign on- you never know what might come up and who might not be able to make it. At 10:40 we will throw invites out to the alternate if there are still empty slots by then.

Looking forward to it folks. BTW if anyone doesn't want to drive this series/circuit, then feel free to post it, along with any suggestions. I can't guarantee I will change it up, but I want to see what people's thoughts are. Again, next week I hope to start the real-deal with the Formula Fords, so this may be the last Medium Length Race not in the FFs for a while.

Also, please note there is one mandatory pit stop in the race, of course. Any other rules should be pretty clear in the top post, but if there are any quastions, feel free to ask 'em here.

I went back and edited my post a while back, Zep. Let the guys who plan on running the season, or guys who play a lot, in. I was in at first until I saw so many people signing up. Somebody else can have my spot, for sure.

PK is supposed to make an appearance at my place tonight for my play-testing of IndyCar Series 2005 and other things. If he doesn't, I may run the B-Main with the rest of the alternates.

Well, that's something I have to figure out. Terry and others have suggested a 2 division setup, but I don't think I can run 2 separate divisions. So, that means there are really only 9 spaces for the league (myself, James_E the host, and DChaps the statistician take up 3 spots). So, I need to figure out a fair-minded way to have a sign-up for the season. I'll figure something out.

Terry: please do show up tonight. You have yet to be in one of our Medium Length races, and this would be a perfect chance since it's not counting for points. So please, do show up, I think you will relly enjoy the longer format. Others who signed up late may likely be in the season, so this is your chance to get in.

I'd like to be in tonight. I'll be there at 10:30 so if there is space send me an invite.

In regards to consistently having too many heads for the season, I have a couple of ideas. Before I drop them let me say that I can host 7 and the game is not hardcapping me. I have 256 upstream and I can make it let me host 12 so I could be the overflow host on Mondays.

That being said...if we consistently have overfill by 4 or more people on Mondays we could:

1. Set up a team driving situation with the #1 driver in the Main and his #2 in overflow. That way if a #1 can't make it the #2 could fill in and the team could still earn points in the main during the season. Maybe make the points half in the overflow of what they are in the main.

2. Not doing teams..... we could have the bottom four finishers relegated the following week to the overflow and the top 4 four from the overflow promoted to the Main. Each week you would be competing to keep your spot in the Main and could only earn points in the Main.

I really like the relegation idea, Ted. If Zeppo can't manage two divisions, perhaps the second division could have its own head (you perhaps?), and weekly lineups could be coordinated between the two commissioners, if that's not too complicated.
