Rueters has some death pictures, rumor has it the anonymous U.S. Source sold it to them, who knows. These are taken of the 3 guys they gunned down protecting OBL - taken about an hour after the incident.

For those who want death pics, here they are, hope they satisfy your blood thirst :)

I agree that releasing the photos won't satisfy the conspiracy theorists, especially those University of Illinois alumni with ball-security issues. :D

I also don't think there's a big political reason not to show them. In fact, I think the administration stands more to lose politically by not releasing them (similar to the birth certificate issue). The only potential issue I see is if there are no visible weapons anywhere, but as long as Osama is among those pictured, I don't think many Americans will care. And in this media climate, media outlets would definitely rather have photos to show than nothing to show.

I'm a bit torn on it. The morbidly curious part of me wants to see them. On the other hand, good guys don't parade the heads of their enemies on spikes. As much as many of us are happy bin Laden is dead, he symbolizes a lot of pain and sadness that will continue long after his death. A bloody, eyeless photo of him may just remind us of the latter part.

Why? Like he said "There's no need to spike the football".

Why release pictures of a dead OBL with his head blasted open? What could possibly be gained from that?

That is exactly the "I don't give a sh*t what the rest of the world thinks" attitude that fuels the terrorist's fire.
We don't need to brag about doing what needed to be done. That's more them and not us. They are the one's

Those were taken by Pakistani Security after they arrived on the scene.

A photo with his head blasted open is precisely the thing that some people need to see...families of victims of that bastard, especially. 10 years of waiting for justice...
I know you want to defend the guy, Jack, but really, they are giving the conspiracy nuts a LOT of ammo unnecessarily right now. And not just not releasing the photo.

This is just baloney. Their skewed religious beliefs fuel their fire. This BS about anything we do to fuel it is just that...BS. It's just a profound misunderstanding of these folks, coupled with PC crap, that leads to thinking we did anything, or will do anything, that will 'make' them angry. They think they're doing God a favor by wiping us out. Period. Nothing you do or don't do will change that.

If that's true, then why do they predominantly target the USA? What about all the other non-Muslim countries out there?
What about Canada, Australia, China, Most of Europe, etc? If what you said was true, wouldn't they all be equal targets?

When OBL was interviewed a while back, he was asked why the hatred for the US and he responded that he just wanted us
out of the Middle East. I think the fact that we occupy other countries where we don't belong is the biggest factor of all.

Not to make it political, but releasing a photo won't satisfy the conspiracy nuts. If someone already think that the US government staged this whole thing, they will think any released photo is fake. Look at Mendenhall's tweets about 9/11, not believing that the towers fell from the planes and subsequent fire. You're never going to convince someone like that to change their views because they are based on what they want to believe and not facts.

I think the likely scenario is that the photo will be unofficially leaked on purpose by the government, who will then deny leaking it, allowing them to say they didn't leak it but still letting it get out.

Turn it around, what if they killed say Cheney (just an example, not saying he's OBL), and released the photo with his head open. Wouldn't that piss us off, wouldn't we'd want to retaliate?

I read the military guys were against releasing the photos because they're afraid it may endanger the servicemen fighting the war all over the world. For me, that's enough right there to not release the pics if it puts lives in danger.

I agree they don't just target us, they pretty much target many other countries. We're pretty lucky we don't get it as bad as countries like Israel, India, and the Phillpines and other non muslim countries around that region.

Al-Qaeda operatives worldwide know Bin Laden is dead, with or without a photo. Their social network might be a little slower than ours with no Facebook and Twitter, but word of mouth has traveled fast enough by Sunday to let them know he's most certainly, definitely, positively dead.

Plus this idea that a death photo will provide "closure" to the relatives of the 9/11 victims is mularkey. Nothing will provide "closure" for someone who lost a loved one that day. They're not going to start feeling better about their loss or that day because they see a photo of Bin Laden with the front of his skull blown off. The hole in their hearts and souls is permanent.

Really? Are you being sarcastic with this comment? Have you not read about the hundreds of bombings throughout the Middle East in the last decade? Does Madrid,London,Mumbai ring a bell? Here I'll help you out. http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/terrori ... rism1.html

Jack, we get it. You think one guy is responsible for UBL's death. Great. It's America. Whatever. Best bet on this topic is to avoid playing the political game. It clouds your mind.

I'm sure he's dead and all and it might just be me, but I don't believe for a second that he died this past Sunday. When you look at the entire picture, it just doesn't add up.

I'll tell you what I think would have helped. Precise information from the White House. If you don't know the complete story, don't put any of it out there. The backtracking and amount of misinformation that's been given out is really inexcusable. All it does is give the free worlds enemy more fodder. Personally I want to see the photo's. It would defiantly give me a little bit of closure. I want to see it broadcast every hour on the hour. I want lunchboxes and happy meals based on the photo's.
When I think about my cousin's death on 9/11 and how he died it inflames me. f*** al Qaeda and the Taliban. I don't give a damn if it offends them. Matter of fact I want to offend them. They offend me! The hate I feel for this monster will never subside. I can't even talk about giving the tyrannical f*** a decent burial. That makes me think of the thousands crushed under the rubble of the WTC. No one cleaned them.
I talk with soldiers on a daily basis. Every one of them wants to see this bastards death photo. They don't feel in anymore danger than their already in. They want to draw out the pieces of s*** so they can kill them. All this bullshit about we're the USA and we're better than them pisses me off. That talk comes from non combatants and fat ass politicians. I know for a fact how weak they already think we are because of our political correctness. The people that are fighting these animals understand that thank God.They know how to defeat them and what they understand. We've had 10 years of OJT to figure that s*** out. Opinions may vary. That's mine.

Wait, so when did he die?

Also, if you look the leaked photos, it appears as if one of men was indeed armed, problem was it was with a squirt gun!

Your insight is informative and illuminating, as always, Jack-diggity. I'm glad the f*ck is gone, and I'm glad the U.S. Armed Forces are fighting every day to protect us.

Thanks.

I didn't say anything about closure, Paul...I'm talking about their need for justice. Some of those families refused the invitation to ground zero today because, well, they just want to see the guy dead. I get that. They should have that. They want to feel like, in some way, they "helped" pull the trigger. And as for all the hand wringing over the "gruesome" photos...well, JFK and Lee Harvey are on the web for all to see, and the world hadn't ended.

Please don't patronize me. I never said anything about who is responsible for OBL's death. Of course I know Al Queda has bombed many other countries. We were discussing WHY they hate us and whether or not publishing pictures of a dead OBL would insite more terrorism. This attitude of "they hate us no matter what we do" is exactly what the Jews and the Arabs perpetuate and why they will never settle their differences. That hatred isn't just inborn...it's based on something. Teal claims it's 100% bases on religion and I disagree. I do agree religion is a big motivating factor, I don't
think it's everything, but most importantly I don't think we need to dance on OBL's grave or publish pictures proving what we did. We know he's dead...that's all that matters.
