Busch doesn't look all that great, but there are some really beautiful stadiums in the game for sure.
The game is optimized to be played in 720p. Last year, it looked better in 1080p, but it doesn't hold up as well in '11.

I agree Busch doesn't jump out at me either. So far, I've been really impressed with Atlanta and Houston.

I'm 16-10 in my season with the Cards. My wife officially thinks I'm insane for playing this game daily!
Do you change your ps3 to 720p when playing?
The PS3 does not display games in 1080p unless you change the display setting to only use 1080p. If you check all the boxes (720p. 1080i, 1080p) then it will automatically use 720p. In order to play previous versions of The Show in 1080p you had to turn off support for 720p and 1080i, and if you did that, games that only supported 720p would display in 480p and look terrible. That is until you changed the settings back to support all resolutions. Hope that made sense. It's hard to explain.

One thing I've noticed is that outfield throws seem way more accurate than before, especially to the plate. 20 games into my Cubs season, I've probably gunned down 4-5 guys at home and a couple others at the other bases. Whereas most throws from the outfield to home pulled the catcher up the line, I'm seeing a lot of accurate one hoppers, even on throws where I don't get the guy.
For my Cubs. . .the starters have been lights out--except for Randy Wells. . .the game hates/loves that guy (i.e. loves to face him).

This second point is interesting as I tend to throw guys out because the AI seems to be really aggressive in trying to take home. . .For example, the other day the Rockies sent their catcher from second on a line drive single into left and Soriano nailed him by a mile. No idiotic quip from Karros on that.

you lost me.

far as the PS3, i normally leave all the boxes checked. The only title which didn't display properly to date was Red Dead Redemption. It was displaying in a low resolution until i checked the 720 box only. All other titles, never had to do that..

With all boxes checked, the PS3 will output games at their designed resolution;i.e. The Show at 720p.
Your TV may output the 720p signal at whatever resolution you set it at,1080i for example.

Ok, although it seemed to be a bit better looking when I took off all the check marks except for 720p.

It is confusing though.. the back of the box says, "Video output in Full HD 1080p requires an HDMI cable and a 1080p native display with an HDMI input supporting HDCP"

Then, once you start the game it says, "Game optimized for 720p, please change your setting on the ps3 to 720"

Why do they make everything so freaking confusing? :)

Last night, I unchecked every setting except for 1080p and either I'm seeing things or the game looked much crisper and better graphically.

When I did this the game looked worse. There were much more jaggies than before.

I'm having the same problem with Uncharted. It's jaggies galore with a 1080p TV. :P

I play the game on my 1080i tv and it looks amazing, no complaints from me. As far as the ballparks go in the Show, Minute Maid park in Houston is simply stunning, especially an afternoon played in clear and sunny conditions. Don't care for that ballpark in real life but in this game, it's by far my favorite.

as had posted above, that works for me (1080i hdtv). The only exception being, Red Dead Redemption. For whatever reason, 720 is the only box which can be checked when playing it. Otherwise, the game is displayed in low resolution.

One thing I like about the 360 is that all resolutions are supported, most games are optimized to run in 1080p.

Actually only a handful are 1080p native, the 360 just scales them to 1080p for output.

When you play this game in 480i through the reflection of a dirty mirror it is 100% photorealistic.

My offense has fallen off a cliff in the last few games. I have always been strikeout prone in this game, but I just had a three-game skid where I was shut out twice and scored one run in the other game. The odd thing is I started off hitting quite a bit better than I had in previous show games, but I've got several guys who are cold and I can't seem to break them out. It's very frustrating.

Feels good when you get in a groove with a pitcher, doesn't it?

My pitching's been pretty bad so far in my Mets franchise, but last night against the Rockies, Johan Santana had everything working. When you nail the placement of a backdoor slider... SWEETNESS. Complete game, 2-hit shutout. Eases the pain of his real-life injuredness.

I absolutely agree. I started a new Pirates fantasy franchise and threw Hamels in the opener. He went 7 strong before I had to pinch hit for him in the 8th. Loved working his cutter and change up. I had the Cubbies off balance all game. Fun stuff. As a former catcher I love calling a game and it's pretty damn fun in The Show.

On a slightly similar note...Wrigley is a beautiful place to play a day game. Gorgeous.

I guess I will try and get on now.

Do you think I'm a puss for playing on veteran? :)

Start your season with the minimum games which is 14 or 16 games and take it from there.
