Sorry for sounding negative, but all this reads like the same stuff I've heard from them every year.
It's fine to be negative but IMO you're just being lazy. If you bother to go read or look at any of the videos you could make an informed judgement.

According to the articles Madden put in 700 cameras, unique to the stadiums so cuts, wipes and replays would emulate a real broadcast. They worked with CBS and NFL Films for various elements of the presentation so it would feel like an actual TV broadcast. Will it work? I have no idea but to say it is the same old thing is really off base IMO.

Either way you did me a favor. You reminded me why it is pointless to post here anymore about sports games. There are too many people here who want to do nothing but engage in arguments, insult others or argue about politics etc.

I won't bother posting any more Madden information you guys win.
After all Hillis did for you in the Madden OLF you are going to bail on us and him in our time of need :D . . .plus think of all of the time you save the less-jaded with your posts.

Personally, per the flurry of announcements, I am happy with nearly everything they've listed. I know I was personally down on Madden 11 gameplay wise but I have to at least give EA the credit for trying hard (or creating the perception that they are working hard) to improve the product.

They could rest on their laurels and roll over the product (like they have in previous cycles) but I honestly think they are working on improving gameplay and presentation.

To draw a parallel to The Show. . .that game is beyond solid because it feels like you are watching the game--I have to imagine they are trying to copy that model that the more you make the game look like what you see on Sunday it's going to inherently feel/play better.

I'm not gonna get to excited about anything because every year they hype it so much they guarantee a letdown when you open the game.

Please keep posting, I liked both videos and for the first time in a LONG time, I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more about Madden 12.

It's frustrating sometimes when people say negative stuff especially if your interested in the game or series but Matt wasn't out of line. I thought his comments were directed more at EA than at Dan.

I usually buy Madden every year and listen to all the promises and hype by EA. I thought M11 was a huge letdown after M10. I traded my copy back to Amazon and repurchased M10.

Don't know if i'll try M12 this year.

Yeah right :P

I was let down by last years too but my optimism is eternal. Plus when you play the game online it adds a HUGE dimension to the fun factor.

My love/hate relationship with Madden never ceases to amaze me.

Every year I read the previews and am smitten with all the developer talk because every year sounds like they finally "get it". And while there are things that seem to improve the game every year, it always seems to be at the expense of something else.

But seriously, from all the articles I read, it sounds like it's really turning a corner this year.

I don't care if someone is negative, they have every right to be. I'm negative of how Sony handles business all the time. What bothers me is I'm just trying to pass along information on a site that used to be a great place to talk about games. Now it's just useless topics that have nothing to do with gaming and death threads for people I don't even know.

I have no problem if people want to be negative or a smart ass but occasionally it would be nice to discuss the games without every post turning into someone trying to be a stand up comedian. There is a lot of good information in those articles and even more in ones I didn't bother posting. Of course talk is cheap and the proof is in the pudding but we're not going to be playing this game for 4 months so all we can do is discuss the information presented.

I'm most interested in the fluff features of Madden 12. That's the presentation. This game has bored me to tears for the past I don't know how many years. It just seemed to have no substance when it came to creating excitement. They've been so so far behind in presentation, commentary, etc. that I guess I would be amazed if it's really that drastically different than years past. It does seem that there is that litte ray of light that Madden 12 could be turning the corner with regards to presentation. I hope it's more than just cut scenes though!

I haven't read every Madden blog post, but has there been anything regarding the broadcast presentation? Specifically a better flowing Gus Johnson and Collinsworth....

To be honest, unless there is an NFL season this year I will likely be skipping buying a football game for the first time in 20 years. I really enjoyed Madden 11 8O and everything about 12 looks promising but without the NFL actually playing I see no need to pick it up. I usually only play sports games during the season.

The presentation does look good in the few videos I've seen so far, hopefully the online franchise mode is improved enough that the DSPFL can make a comeback this season.

I'm with you Dan, I love presentation.. (I hope NHL gets a lot of attention this year)

With the draft as big as it has become, I hope they add some presentation to the draft. Maybe they have though, I haven't played Madden in years. :D

IDK that Online franchise is getting any love this year. My guess on the situation is you will have online communities where you can play whomever and have a ladder so to speak. Maybe I am wrong but reading between the lines and what little I know from a friend I don't believe there is much hope for OF improvements.

Even if the OF features arent improved, hopefully the game will be so that we can put together a few seasons.

If not, Im sure we(dan) will get an NCAA league going. I am thinking/hoping that we will have DSP football.

OMG EA is really stepping it up! Is the world about ready to end or something?

Madden is a first day purchase and NCAA is a buy when the price comes down (unless I can't avoid temptation). They have the potential to be the best football games ever.

it's looking good but I hope they avoid coming out with a broken game only to be fixed months later.

Madden 11 NOW plays great, post last patch which was what Dec 2010? At release the game was unplayable.

This is not just EA but seems like all the game companies. They turn out an unfinished product since they know updates can fix things later.

I like how the tackling looks so far, nice to see add on tackles.

I'm really impressed with the camera angles and cuts. No idea how it all plays together during the game but the snippets they are showing are the closets I've ever seen madden to a true broadcast feel.

About 10 days to franchise news, that's the make or break for me.

Ya it seems promising. I still can't figure out the player models though. In some of the vids they look like last year and some they look a little bigger.

Agreed. I passed on M11 because after playing so much of 10 in our online franchise, I was a bit burned out. I'm pretty excited to get the game again, but I really want to see the franchise improve. It's just been way too sterile, especially compared to the fun of NCAA's Dynasty Mode.

I just hope the gameplay is somewhat stimulating this year. I am not a franchise guy so if they kept it the same it won't matter to me, but please add some excitement to the gameplay. Did any news come out if they've improved the commentary by Gus?

Well I think if they really removed the suction like they say that will be a vast improvement in game play. also the zone coverage stuff, the ability to once again press individual receivers and shade to the inside or out. Right now I am optimistic, I didn't hate the game play in 11 but I hated a lot of what they say they fixed.

As for commentary nothing has been said, all i saw is they got Chris and Gus in the booth together this year so I would expect at least it will have new commentary. The issue isn't so much about who is saying it. The issue is what is being said (script) and the piss poor audio production making it sound so fractured IMO.
