Yeah. Everyone starts new again now. CHI lost some of its supporting roles but they're still dangerous to say the least. Sharp, Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, that's a darn pretty good list of players that know how to win it all. VAN gathered another year of pain and experience at the cost of the Hawks for the past 2 playoffs. Are they ready to win it all? Too premature to say that, but along the Red Wings they are the teams to watch for in the West for sure.ScoopBrady wrote:That's definitely possible but let's just see how it plays out. Seriously about the Hawks. Anyway to get in is a good way. I like repeating last years Hab's story about how they backed into the eight spot then took down the Presidents Cup wining Caps in the first round.
Do not forget ....The Hawks have taken down the Nucks two straight years in the playoffs.

I need someone to convince me that the Flyers will actually win a playoff round this year and Bobrovsky can handle the job. Anyone up for the task?

Fellas.
Can someone point me to a decent place to watch the playoffs online? How about NHL Center Ice? How's the streaming quality?

Re: NHL 2010/2011 Season
Since there are no shootouts in the playoffs, I'm having a hard time figuring out how the Pens are ever going to win a game. They are going to have to hope for four 1-0 wins to get by Tampa Bay. I'll take it though!

wrong thread.....Feanor wrote:If Leighton comes back, I won't watch the games. Maybe he would do better than Bob or Boucher for a short period of time, but there's no way we can win the Cup with him in net, and I'd be happier if he never played for the Flyers again.

Possible Flyers Winter Classic sweater for next year?

Wow, now that is different. Panaccio said the other day he saw it and thought it was awful, 'looked like a bengals jersey.' Looks about right then.
I'm keeping an open mind on it.

Supposedly it is a play on the Philadelphia Quakers from the 1930's. Nothing official though.Naples39 wrote:Wow, now that is different. Panaccio said the other day he saw it and thought it was awful, 'looked like a bengals jersey.' Looks about right then.

The worst thing about that sweater is the misplaced C.

I could give two flips about the Flyers, but if that is the jersey for next year I am in for a Carcillo jersey. I think it's so bad it's awesome.Diablo25 wrote:Possible Flyers Winter Classic sweater for next year?

Re: NHL 2010/2011 Season
Mark Chipman chairman of True North is just making the announcement now as G. Bettman admits the transfer while still saying 'we do not like to move franchises'.
It's been 17 years of failures in ATL Gary, wake up!

Re: NHL 2010/2011 Season
That is good news. There should be more teams in Canada and cold weather cities. So they will be the Jets again? or a different name? And they will start playing next season right?
I don't know why Bettman is hell bent in keeping the PHX franchise when it's a obvious failure. And I think one Hockey team in FLA is enough, they should try moving the Panthers or just get rid of them. The Lightning have done well but they couldn't even sell out a Stanley cup Finals game when they were in it years ago.
It would be nice to see cities like Seattle, Portland, Milwaukee, and more Canadian cities get teams. I think hockey would work very well in those regions since you would already have a fan hockey base (Pacific Northwest - VAN fans / Mil - Hawks/RedWings fan) and geographic rivalries would be instant.

Re: NHL 2010/2011 Season
There's a lot of potential in a city like SEA, and apparently a couple of owners are already on the wait list to see how things pan out in PHO. The reason Bettman decided to keep them for another year is because Glendale thinks they can have a deal with the city and they just forked out another 25 million to cover the losses, should the deal fall apart. The difference with ATL is that no owner or parties were remorsefully interested in saving a franchise that was doomed from the get go.Lancer wrote:That is good news. Agree that FLO would be the net franchise in peril, DAL is under ownership change and the CBJ have been in the red for awhile.
As to the question whether Winnipeg will regain the name of the Jets, the NHL still owns that name and it will be up to True North to see what they fans in that city wants, and take it from there. Needless to say that Mr Bettman will have a hefty price for the 'Jets' name. The Peg will be a good market, there will be growing pains in the beginning, the population is just under 800.000 but they'll be much more successful than some of the cities south of the border.
For anyone in the Pacific West that wants to see them back playing in the Western conference, it is a case of too little too late. The league can't possibly change the realignment in time for next season but look for them to be back in the West for the 12-13 season.
