LOL! Trust me, those opinions are based on much less knowledge than you cats who have followed the Association through the years. But I'm having a hell of a lot of fun with this league this winter, more than I ever expected.

If we were talking shooting guards yes, Rose is better at creating his own shot but Deron is better at getting a team into the offense and setting up the rest of them. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Rose in a hot second, but from the PG position I wouldn't take anyone over Deron to start a team with right now. Rose is ultimately a SG playing PG...very well I might add.
Rose over Williams in a heartbeat. I don't really understand "rose is a SG playing PG'. He's a PG that can score & wreck a defense. Also, Williams seems to be a real chap ass. Sloan couldn't stand him, and not one of teammates really said a word about him being traded. Rose has way more upside IMO.

Biggest compliment I can give to Rose is that he has me watching the Bulls again. Last time I seriously watched them was at the end of the Jordan era, so its extremely fun again. The Heat definitely came in to the UC thinking they would get an easy win since they were at full strength. Definitley a statement game last night for the Bulls. Luol Deng stepped up big last night, and the Bulls are just on another level now that Joakim is back and the Bulls are at full strength. With the Celtics trading Perkins, the Bulls have to be the favorite in the East. IMHO.

Not since the days of Magic Johnson has a PG carried his team to a championship. Isaiah and Dumars were from that era too.

Lot of great PGs put up great numbers but few have carried their team by themselves. Not that winning rings is the only metric, otherwise, Derek Fisher and BJ Armstrong would be all-time greats.

But Tony Parker and Rondo were key in the championships their teams won.

Williams and Stockton before him couldn't do it. Williams couldn't even make the Finals (or maybe even the Conference Finals). No shame, guys like Nash and Kidd haven't taken their teams to the Finals either though they're among the best of all time. KJ was one of the most athletically-gifted PGs but he and Barkley couldn't beat Jordan.

Remains to be seen if Rose can. Chicago has a lot of young talent but they may not be ready until the top teams in the East get too old.

Most important position may be a 2/3 -- MJ, Kobe, Wade and maybe eventually LBJ. These players need to handle the ball and they can create shots for their teammates, making a PG who dominates the ball unnecessary.

Jason Kidd went to the finals in back to back years with the Nets...they just ran into the ridiculous Laker dynasty and then the Spurs. This was also when the East was absolutely atrocious. And you also seem to forget that KJ was hurt in that finals series but still set the record for minutes played in a game with like 60 something, so he wasn't right at all. If you're not right and you're being guarded by Jordan...you're in for a rough time.

But I agree...a stud PF or SG is way more important than a playmaking PG. At least it seems that way.

My Sixers are finally back to .500 after beating the Pistons last night. 26-16 since their 3-13 start. Thad Young is fun to watch...as is the entire team right now. Lou Williams has got to be in the race for 6th man of the year...as is Young. Brand is playing his best ball since becoming a Sixer. Jrue Holiday is becoming a force at the PG position. He plays superb D, runs the offense well and has developed into a solid scorer....and he is still only 20. I love Doug Collins....love the guy. He has taken my team from a joke (F U Eddie Jordan you dick) to a legit playoff team. Now they aren't going to win the title this year but I sure as hell wouldn't want to draw them in the first round. Cavs are next.

Hickson is TOUGH on the offensive boards. Love guys like that.

HUGE game for the Sixers vs Dallas tomorrow. Mavs are hotter than the Sixers right now.

That's the the thing, seems like the old the talk 'bout made him all more insane last night.

Seems like it rubbed on his teammates 'cause they where way pumped for a regular season game.

Great Great comeback win last night by the Hawks over Chicago.

Horford with 30 points and 16 reb's!!! Most underrated player in the NBA IMO.
The guy is super consistent and can shoot lites out from anywhere on the court.

GO Hawks!!!

Are you drunk? Wow...that is a JRod post right there.

I am not shocked the Suns lost. They still aren't a very good team (playing better of late tho). Maybe they sneak into the playoffs to get beat in the first round, but after two road Overtime games against fellow bad teams to start the week, it certainly doesn't help your cause going into Boston to play an elite team.

Los Bulls es muy bueno. :D

Rose has got some stiff competition for an MVP nod, but I think at this point Thibadeau has to be a front-runner for coach of the year. He has done an incredible job with this group.

Ugh. Horrifying how that sad sack of a team has the Knicks' number. The Knicks have played to the level of their competition all season. How can a team that has smoked the Spurs and beat the Heat lose three times to the Cavs?

The Cavs are playing with way more sack since the deadline. Davis has brought some good leadership and steel to that team.

Yeah, the Cavs started the season 7-9. They're 4-5 in their last nine games. You take away that stretch in between when they went 1-36, you're looking at a playoff contender. :D

Hey, the Cavs play hard -- especially against the Knicks, to my chagrin.

That season sweep was pretty impressive. They look like they are peaking at just the right time. I would feel more confident in them if they had more talent at the 2 position, but at the same time I can understand why they didn't want to move some of their other players to shore up that spot.

VERY entertaining triple-OT game last night at Staples between the Lakers and the Suns. Definitely had a playoff vibe.

The Suns illustrate the superior depth of the Western Conference. I think they're as good or better than all but the top four seeds in the East, yet they're 10th in the West.

I think the Bulls might have had something stuck in their craw after this game based upon what happened last night.

Too bad the Suns are fighting to get into the playoffs. They got that ring stolen from them by Horry that one year.

So are the Bulls for real? I find it hard to see them defeating Orlando or Boston in a 7 game series.

I am obviously biased as hell but I think the Bulls are the best of the east right now. They went 1-2 against Boston but the 2 losses were in Boston and early in the year before they really started firing on all cylinders. They are 2-1 against the Magic and the loss was early in the year too. They swept the Heat. I really like their chances of going to the Finals this year.

The Suns are 10th in the west because they have Vince Carter on their team. That guy single handedly lost them that game last night. He was horrendous. Why Pietrus wasn't in there instead of him I'll never know. Sometimes Gentry really pisses me off. Nash was absolutely epic last night...I don't see how guys still can't consider him one of the top PGs in the league. Falling out of bounds while being double teamed, perfect behind the back strike to Gortat who feeds Frye for the three. Ridiculous sequence right there.

Oh well...at least the Suns are still entertaining and they can play with anyone. Do you think anyone really wants to play them in the playoffs? Obviously the Suns won't beat anyone in the top half of the west, but they aren't going to be an easy 4 and out like most 7-8 seeds. They shoot much too well. That of course is IF they make the playoffs.

And I'm with Scoop...I think the Bulls are definitely the team to beat in the East. They are the most well rounded and they do nearly everything well. Had they gotten a legit SG at the deadline, they'd be the favorite in the entire league, so they still have one pretty gaping hole. Still a fantastic team tho that will likely come out of the east.
