Speaking of Fifa, anyone know what the recent LIVE update was? I played last night for the first time in close to a month. Was it Rosters?

The updates are part of the recent FIFA 11 Ultimate team package which was first released. The latest roster with all the transfers comes in next week.

Did they change something about UT mode?

Lots. Many under-the-hood changes, but the big stuff is the ability to play against your friends' teams...even if they aren't online. I played a couple of games against Zeppo's squad last night. Really fun.

They also added a ton of stat tracking to compare your teams to those of your friends. Very cool.

I can't get this feature to work. Every time i try it says 'failed to load Friend's squads from the EA Servers.'

The servers went down right after "our" second game last night. They may still be a bit FUBAR in the EA tradition of being unable to support their own online features.

I got my copy yesterday and I must admit the game does feel and play differently. What's the word, organic? I'm having a tough time on semi-pro.

Rodster - I've had problems scoring offline since day one. I love the game, but scoring regularly in this version has been difficult for me.

The AI is oddly tilted. It plays defense very well, but is totally scoring-challenged. In fact, lower-rated teams who don't try to play attacking football are often more difficult to beat than the elite teams who at least throw guys forward. It's almost as though the ratings of the players doesn't matter.

Their biggest vulnerability at the back is on balls in the air, so lofted through balls and long passes are essential. This is also the first year that give-and-go is an absolute necessity to break them down consistently.

I play in Legendary. No scoring problems for the CPU there. For me, well it's probably why I don't play FIFA anymore.

Wow that explains why I found lower rated teams playing tougher than higher rated teams. Overall it's a challenging game where giving up one goal is make or break because you might not get another chance.

For a $25 game i'm happy. :)

The CPU AI on both sides does play good defense. Also I like the way the bounce of the ball but I need to get used to passes with pass assist. Pass while getting to your AI target tend to be on the weak side whereas in the past you could put some speed behind short passes.

Also on the 360 the game graphically looks tight on IMO is the best looking one so far in the series. I can't tell if it's because they cleaned up the jaggies but the game looks fantastic.

JRod must be happy they fixed two problems he had beefs with 1) Subs and 2) Penalties. The CPU now subs at different times in the game only seen it in the second half though and penalties are varied for both sides which is good. Man I never knew playing keeper in this game could be so much fun. :)

Have any of you guys tried or paid for Live Season? I'm a bit confused by it, is it like a mix between EA's Live DNA and 2K's Today mode?

I downloaded the trial version, don't know if I want to shell out 400 points for it. I chose Newcastle and lost by the same score to ManU 0-3. :(

I bumped the difficulty from Semi-Pro to Pro and it made a big difference. "D" in this game is phenomenal they make passing into space difficult and holding on to the ball as well.

Its the only mode i play Rod, i paid for all of them (800pts) but having got the game for 29 bucks it wasnt a big deal especially as i really like to parallel the real seasons without having to do the roster changes my self.

It lags a little behind at times and even after a form update you may not have unlocked another game to play if your team was maybe in a cup competition that week or rained out as was the case this season, but thats were having multiple seasons going helps as i just go to another league to play. Im sure you can do different seasons with the same league though just pick a different team. it will take you a while to catch up any way now if your playing 10 mins or longer halfs.
A couple of things id like to see added are showing you who the subs wher for that game and any formation change if there was one just so as like you say when your live season game is going exactly like the real game did you can make the same changes and add cups too.
Im stuck between levels pro and world class , im playing full manual so its my scoring that is holding me back.
On full manual this is the best footy game ive ever played i get so much enjoyment out of what im trying to do with my team that it doesnt even matter what the ai opponents are doing, all the easy tackling and high possesion stats go out the window as its all about building for and trying to create a scoring chance.

Edit Rod, just read your post again and sorry ive never played the other modes you mention so cant say , there isnt much to the mode in general other than it just parallels the actual seasons for games.

Had an amazing run of games against randoms on UT last night in a 5-star tourney. First game I was down 1-0 from the 8th minute, but equalized in 90+. Played almost both halves of ET, but grabbed the winner in the 120th minute. Next game was 0-0 until I got the winner in 90+. Then in an epic final I went down 2-0 in the first 35 minutes. I climbed back in and equalized in the 70th minute. We went to ET 2-2. I grabbed a goal in the 109' only to yield 2 damn goals in the last 11 minutes and lose 4-3.

These guys were all solid, cheese-free players who played a nice variety of styles. Such a great night of games that I'm not even bitter about the finals loss. Sure, I was gutted for a few minutes, but on balance it was a great night.

Key word. Few but they are there. Got this guy from Texas for awhile who's GT I think is everton, serious player, got game. Haven't really dug in UT as much as I'd like to because of my current career mode but sounds like you're having a blast.

I found the lower level games riddled with cheats and cheesers. At 5-star thought, it's either guys who are good and have earned the team, or kids who have bought their way to 5 stars and pretty much stink. :) I've added about 3 guys to my friends list in the last week who are all good players.

I'm astonished at the number of glitches, cheats and exploits in FIFA. I thought it was just online clubs that was stuck with them, but I get at least one message every day from a player who wants to do the swap glitch, 4-player glitch or other nonsense. And I play at least 2 guys a week who are clearly using lag switches. Crazy.

Nope. Just wondering what mode you were talking about. I guess I need to give this one more of a shot. I wouldn't mind playing in other leagues.
