Just ordered it through gamestop.com. They say it'll ship the 8th!
Hey btw, I was just looking up the Tribe's over/under win total this year... ehh... never mind.

Watch the Lakers get Melo for Adam Morrison or some other stiff.

Congrats to Ray Allen, the most prolific long-range bomber in NBA history. Class act, too.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Melo dealt to the Knicks.
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/ ... id=6145912
Excellent deal long term for the Knicks.
Billups is playing better now than Felton, and either Williams or Paul are coming to New York to play point in 2012 anyways. Chandler was a goner as a free agent after this season, as there's no way New York would pay Will what he deserved because it needed the money for free agents.
So basically, this deal ends up being Gallo, The Moz and a first-round pick for 'Melo. A very fair trade. Plus the Knicks unload the salaries of Curry and Randolph, freeing more cap room for a star point guard like Paul or Williams.
As a Knicks' fan and resident of Syracuse, I love this deal. Melo is back in New York state!

Man I hope there's no work stoppage next year cause i'm digging the NBA now more than the NFL. I think the Heat will now have big problems with the Knicks.
I wish the Heat could get Blake "the hammer" Griffin, just dreaming.

They might have gotten worse on defense.
May be fun to watch light up the scoreboard but they need to think more about some defensive players than a PG.

Agreed, Melo is great for Knicks. I can't believe there are so many Knicks fans who are against dealing Felton/Gallo and Moz. 10 role players < 1 star player in NBA.pk500 wrote:Melo dealt to the Knicks.

I hope this works out... and that Isiah was not the driving force behind the move.
Looking forward to the NBA 2k11 update so I can give the new roster a spin in a playoff scenario!

I like the Cavs trade, although I'm sure Baron Davis isn't too happy about it, ha. I'm surprised they got a high first round pick for Mo Williams, although salaries had alot to do with it. They could have two lottery picks this year. Plus rumors are they're not done yet, Boston and Chicago are interested in Anthony Parker.
I guess this is the way you have to build your team in today's NBA. If you're not one of the five or six hip and cool cities that free agents want to go to, better start stockpiling those lottery picks.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Yeah, the Clippers are the ones that are saving all of the money...but to do that they had to give up their 1st this year. So the Cavs are essentially buying the pick. And Baron got along really well with Byron Scott from what I've read recently, so that should be some fantastic entertainment going forward.
Re: NBA Season 2010-11
not been following the game too tight (Suns and Pacers both down).
when the Nets trade went down (yesterday), it was stated as fact D Willams and Rose were the 2 best point guards in the NBA. Didn't know they had passed Chris Paul...?
side note: hope Chris Mullin receives election into the HOF. Expect he will, based on his ST Johns career alone. My all-time fave NBA player

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Chris Paul needs to stay healthy. I'd take both Rose and Williams over him any day given that piece of information. Paul still doesn't look right after last years surgery.
And the Suns aren't down baby...they are making moves lately. Definitely in the playoff chase. Too bad they won't do any damage. It's tough playing with 17 small forwards at a time.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
All of these recent moves remind me of an article I read about parity in MLS soccer.
Basically, the idea is that perhaps it's actually hurting the league. Talent is too dispersed, with not enough "must watch" teams.
I wonder how this will play out in the NBA, if it's indeed moving in the opposite direction - mega-teams with 3 superstars.
One thing is for sure...it will definitely increase fan interest, even for teams that these mega-teams visit. If you're a fan in the Eastern Conference, the NY games have become a must-see all of a sudden. Of course, it also makes you feel like a fool for paying good money to see lesser teams.
One thing I really don't like about this concept however, is how shallow these teams become in the process of acquiring these stars. I kind of like watching teams that have legit talent coming off the bench and that play a more team orientated game. Watching LeBron and Wade (you suck Bosh) fly up and down the court has been fun, but I definitely don't think of them as part of a "team".

It's definitely made me checkout the NBA this year after all the pub on the Heat. I've also had interest with the Knicks and Clippers. Yeah I think Stern has said all of the superstar moves has had a solid impact for viewership and attendance.fanatic wrote:All of these recent moves remind me of an article I read about parity in MLS soccer.

Can't be any more shocked than I am that the suns traded the promising Dragic AND a 1st Rounder to Houston for Aaron Brooks. Absolutely horrific trade for Phoenix...especially since Brooks will likely be gone next year since he'll be a RFA. Unless of course they trade Nash before the draft and have Brooks become the starting PG. I shudder at the thought.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Absolutely SHOCKED with the Celtics trading Perk to OKC... Re: NBA Season 2010-11
Question is, will this restructuring of superstars to big markets last?
If teams are really distressed (contraction is being discussed) then they may push for a hard cap, which will make it difficult to fill out rosters with good players to complement the superstars. Knicks and even the Heat need to round out the rosters, add depth -- will Wade be healthy when the playoffs roll around?
Baseball has even more imbalances than basketball but the nature of the game is that one or two hot pitchers or hitters can take their team a long ways in the playoffs, so fortunately, the Yankees and Red Sox aren't winning the WS every year and a run here or there wins playoff series.
Basketball you have to sustain scoring. A bum team could have a hot streak against a better team and get out to a 20-point lead but that could evaporate in half a quarter. So better players assert their superiority over the course of a game or a series, usually. And if they're not playing up to their billing, the NBA refs will make sure the teams which are suppose to win do end up winning.

Not sure we can count Bosh as a superstar after last night's 1-18 shooting performancefanatic wrote: I wonder how this will play out in the NBA, if it's indeed moving in the opposite direction - mega-teams with 3 superstars.

Yeah, he really battled for position just inside the 3-point line.Brando70 wrote:Not sure we can count Bosh as a superstar after last night's 1-18 shooting performancefanatic wrote: I wonder how this will play out in the NBA, if it's indeed moving in the opposite direction - mega-teams with 3 superstars.

My favorite fan sign when he made his return back to Toronto - "2 1/2 Men" with a picture of LeBron, Wade and Bosh.
To be fair, he's played well this year. I just don't understand why, as a big man, he decided to spend his off-season getting smaller. He came into 09/10 with a lot more muscle. I think he's tried to justify it on the basis of "I can move around better now", but I don't buy it. Lazy!
Re: NBA Season 2010-11
LOL at that sign. I think he got smaller because he spent too much time building up his Twitter following instead of his muscles.fanatic wrote: Yeah, he really battled for position just inside the 3-point line.![]()

Any team that discounts the Bulls in the East does it at its peril. People who know way more about the NBA than me put Deron Williams and Rose as the pinnacle of NBA point guards, but I think Rose stands alone. That guy can do everything. Plus he's just so fun to watch.

Re: NBA Season 2010-11
If we were talking shooting guards yes, Rose is better at creating his own shot but Deron is better at getting a team into the offense and setting up the rest of them. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Rose in a hot second, but from the PG position I wouldn't take anyone over Deron to start a team with right now. Rose is ultimately a SG playing PG...very well I might add. I just wish Nash wasn't so bad defensively because even after he's had a few MVPs, I think he's underrated offensively. The sh*t he does is absolutely incredible to watch. Obviously he doesn't have the athleticism of a Rose or a Williams so that hurts in the eye of the beholder, but he definitely has a higher skill set for virtually every offensive attribute outside of that.pk500 wrote:People who know way more about the NBA than me put Deron Williams and Rose as the pinnacle of NBA point guards, but I think Rose stands alone. And PK...I'm so glad you actually have an opinion now. Took you long enough.
