I'm sure this has been done before. I apologize in advance to the thread police if that is the case. For future reference, and so I can figure who is of, at least, like background for gaming purposes. Who are you? I am a 38 year old attorney. Primarily insurance defense work. Live in Louisiana, but am a transplant from New York. 6 Foot, 210 lbs. Play tons of tennis (singles too, but hate the nadal wannabe youngsters). But I do love beating them, old school style. I am a federer man. Love the idea of p90x and insanity, but can't do more than 45 days of anything healthy. Occasional cigarette when the wife is not around, but want to stop completely. Like my wine. And beer, etc.
I like sports games, especially baseball and boxing (Evander Holyfield game for the win), but get bored before the final patch is out and before I come anywhere close to finishing a season in a sports game, or figuring out good sliders. Came close this year in Madden, but franchise was uninteresting. High Heat fan for those from back in the day. Would love a NFL player editor for APF 2k8.
Love GTA, RDR, etc (no spoilers please, just reached Mexico). Love Halo, but haven't played Reach yet. Fable ...cool. Mass Effect 1..cool. Waiting for ME 2 to get cheaper. Tried Bioshock and the first assassin's creed and got bored. Played Gears of War for four hours and sold it. Can't wait for LA Noire. Have a PS3 and 360. No problems with either. Wife wants a Wii because we went to a party and she got drunk and danced all night. Sure the two girls would like that --the dancing game, not the drunk mom. My 2 year old works the Ipad WAAAAAYY better than my wife.
I learn about games here and at OS, but only post here for the most part. Seems like an older, more mature crowd. Remember the old days at the old site, Superior Man (found that funny), etc. Respect PK as a fellow New Yorker (we're all brilliant), and wish he would buy a next gen console. BIG fan of the Bills ... Harris and Abner. BIG pearl jam fan. The channel on Sirius/XM rules. Listen to that, Stern and Mad Dog.
Love gaming. At the age where I am willing to wait for all AAA title to hit platinum hits status to get on the cheap. Two kids and less time means I wait to see how certain games stand the test of time before jumping in. I know I read more about games than I actually play them. Especially the Show vs. MLB 2K.. threads.
Anyway ... thanks. Hope for some responses. If you are of like mind, send me some recommendations. Games, music, tennis strings, etc.
Joe

Not exactly what I was hoping for.
But loved it anyway.

Joe,
Where are you in Louisiana? I'm a lawyer as well. Once upon a time, I spent a fair amount of time working on a large class action in Monroe that engaged about 1/2 the lawyers in Western LA and Eastern TX. LOL Spent more time than I like to remember in Monroe and Shreveport.

Used to be in New Orleans, but now I live in Lafayette. Not a big fan of Shreveport or Monroe either.

Vin-
Bought half hour north of White Plains. Town called Mahopac.
The natural sights and the hiking was much more picturesque up north than compared with the flat south that I live in now. But I don't miss digging my car out of the snow.

LOL at The Who references.
My story so far:
Born in Hammond, Indiana, just outside of Chicago. I was a Navy brat and moved around a lot, a trend which continued when I got older. I've lived in the Chicago area five separate times, San Diego twice, Fairfax County in Virginia twice, New Jersey, New York City (Brooklyn, yo!), Sacramento, New Orleans, Columbia in Missouri, Iowa City, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I'm now back in Chicago for my fifth time (tour?) and have no plans to leave. In my 40 years I think I've accumulated about 25 different mailing addresses.
Have been married since 1993 and have a two-year-old daughter who was a true miracle after 10 years of trying to have a kid. My wife is a professor of English and creative writing at DePaul and has published two novels. I work in the marketing department of an education consulting company, trying to get colleges and universities to work with us. My company is in Iowa City, so I work remotely from my home in Chicago, which has been great for having more time to spend with my daughter.
For years I've wanted to write a novel, and I finally finished a draft of one in 2010. Now I'm trying to get it into publishing shape and also start a second one that has some timeliness to the 2012 elections.
I am a huge Chicago Bears fan and also follow the Cubs and Bulls, although not as religiously. I also love to read and am a big rock music buff, from the classic stuff to new indie music. I used to be a big movie buff but the kid has put the brakes on that, at least for the time being. Monty Python was also probably the biggest creative influence on me as a kid.
Gaming-wise, my first console was a Fairchild Channel F system in the late 70s. I was a huge Commodore 64 fan, too, and remember playing EA games back when playing EA games was cool (Archon was my favorite). I was out of consoles for a long time but returned with vengeance with the PSX, and for a while was a reviewer and editor for Games Domain's console section. Currently own a PS3 and 360.
I've always been a big sports gaming fan, but the lack of innovation and choice in that genre has knocked it down a little for me in favor of FPS, action, and music games. My 10 favorite games of all time:
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Front Page Sports Football Pro
3. Rock Band series
4. Half-Life 1 and 2
5. Beyond Good and Evil
6. Uncharted 1 and 2
7. D&D Gold Box series
8. Front Office Football
9. Modern Warfare (and MW2 and Black Ops for multiplayer)
10. MLB: The Show
