Xbox 360 Marketplace and Arcade thread

Demo time! Has anyone but me tried the demo of Mirror's Edge? It's got me pretty excited about this game. It gives a pretty exhilarating sense of leaping around high up above the streets, not unlike Crackdown but with a really high tempo, and the aesthetic of the design and sound is pretty cool. It seems like a pretty good little story, too. It's definitely a unique game, and I'm really looking forward to it now that I've had a chance to try out the demo.
Yeah, I was surprised to get jazzed up about Mirror's Edge, but the demo has me intrigued. I had begun to hear some negative things in terms of people saying it wasn't going to be as good as expected, but I think the demo hints at a really strong/interesting game.
That said, I'll probably wait for reviews/opinions before picking it up.

Played the demo but Mirror's Edge didn't do anything special for me. I thought the sense of speed and agility would be a bit better considering all the hype but it ended up feeling like a regular FPS to me with a bit of jumping and climbing here and there. I'm feeling a bit burned out on FPS's these days so that could have something to do with it. Maybe the full game will have a fantastic story to go along with the newish FPS stuff but I'm not holding my breath.
I get a very strong Assassin's Creed vibe from the demo, in that I think they set up some cool moves, some neat mechanics and an interesting world, but I get the sense that the game itself may be a little bit shallow.Zeppo wrote:Demo time! Definitely going to Gamefly it at some point, though!

And GameSpot believes...It is a good thing this game only costs $20, because that's exactly what it's worth. [Feb 2004, p.109]
It offers very few thrills, and instead, an overly cumbersome control scheme and some insanely convoluted level designs suck just about all the fun out of what could have been an entertaining shooter.

If it's anything like the Japanese demo I'm not impressed at all.Murph wrote:Not out as of this posting, but advanced notice is always a good thing.

I'm so addicted to this stupid *#^#$$ game, it's making me crazy. A+webdanzer wrote:It actually took me a bunch of levels to get into it, but Peggle is definitely a blast! I guess the XBLA version has online multiplayer? If that's right, I could see this being a really fun ultra-casual game to pop in and play with some buddies from time to time.

Torchlight is coming to XBLA! This is a really awesome little Diablo clone that's a piece of cake to pick up and play and has a great sense of humor in the writing and art design.

It's 400 points Feb. 14th, 50% off. Is it worth getting?vader29 wrote:RISK coming to XBLA!![]()
Also has anyone tried ilomilo? I tried the demo and at first impressions it looks kiddie but it's a puzzle game which I like that work the noggin.

Re: Xbox 360 Marketplace and Arcade thread
I picked up a crazy game called Unbound Saga on sale for 160 Microsoft Points. It's a side scroller beat-em up that is played out inside a comic book. The graphics are very good and when new bad guys appear you see some dudes hand drawing in the bad guys into the comic book.
Yeah it looks like it could get repetitive but for 160 points it's a no brainer.

Re: Xbox 360 Marketplace and Arcade thread
I purchased a few more games on sale.
Alien Assault 1&2 are ridiculous fun for 400 points each and it's a top down 3rd person shooter fighting off aliens on a damaged space ship. It has a story and light RPG aspects. Kind of looks like the old Fallout games back in the late 90's.
Also picked up Dead Comic, platformer for 400 points 67% off. It has some extra levels for Splosion man and a few other freebies.
If any of you have Alien Assault 1 or 2 i'd like to do some co-op.
