Yeah VdV has been great up there, but it's also a crowded spot with Defoe, Roman and Crouch. Nice to have options, but you are right about defense...Naples39 wrote:Bentley's on loan, but probably won't come back. And I guess VdV is basically a forward now.
I don't get it though. Defense and goal are far more questionable.
Robbie Keane is officially gone though, so that's a positive.

We are 1 to 2 years away from Redknapp screwing Tottenham over needing emergency funds and a magical oversees owner to save them. Or Tottenham may be end up like Leeds. I can't imagine the the CL funds is paying for all of this.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
I think that's a bit pessimistic. Their net spending last season was basically zero, and it's pretty low this season pending the Pienaar purchase. Gallas came on a free, VdV cost them 8 but they sold Keane for 6. Hardly wild spending.JRod wrote:We are 1 to 2 years away from Redknapp screwing Tottenham over needing emergency funds and a magical oversees owner to save them. Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
But what about the wage structure? Harry has a history of gutting teams from the wage bill. I need to find that article how Harry was primarily responsible for his clubs financial demise after he left. It's just my opinion but I think if he jumps to England in the next 24 months, we'll see Tottenham languish financially after that.Naples39 wrote:I think that's a bit pessimistic. Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Spurs have always kept a pretty tight lid on wages and I haven't seen anything come out that suggests that's changed.

if this was baseball, the Berba would be accused of using performance enhancers.
Another Hat trick for the Berba.

I would say that ESPN should sign him up, but I've enjoyed McManhan or however you spell it.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Martin Tyler's monkey got sacked....I don't think I've laughed this hard in a long time. Been waiting a long time for that idiotic bluenosed c*** to go away and the fact that his last match was a Liverpool one is fantastic.
Game, well and truly over. Indeed it is Andy. Now he can take up a permanent role licking Sir Alex' hole, or since he spent the past 6 years shitting on Rafa and every other 'foreign' manager perhaps he can show everyone how it's done and go manage an EPL team. How about Everton?
Hopefully his knuckledragging mate Keyes gets the sack too. Bunch of gobshites.

Sorry. I re-read my post and realized I came across as more than a bit crazy.
Unfortunately, I still mean every word.
Oh well.

On the British forums I frequent that's a very common sentiment. I did also find this picture which was apparently personally photoshopped by Andy Gray (who was sacked for making sexist comments about a female assistant referee in case anyone here hadn't heard.)

Sorry, but it's outrageous behaviour...if the creator had looped those bags over her left wrist, there'd have been space for an iron in her right hand and an ironing board under her right arm to go with it.Jimmydeicide wrote:Feanor wrote:On the British forums I frequent that's a very common sentiment. I figure I must be about the 75000th person to try a joke along those lines. Safety in numbers and all that...

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
Sounds like Torres wants to leave 'Pool, with Chelsea the likely suitor.

If it's true I will be absolutely gutted. If he does leave I hope Liverpool hold out for top dollar + Josh McEachran.miget33 wrote:Sounds like Torres wants to leave 'Pool, with Chelsea the likely suitor.

Suarez deal done. I like it , seems like he has the energy for the prem and if he plays with the enthusiasm like he had in the world cup ,the fans will love him.
Seems like a good complement to a Torres lets hope they try it out first and not sell the incredible sulk.
F off Chelsea dont you have enough forwards.

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
I like the Suarez deal too. If he shows the same pace and skill as he displayed during the WC, 'El Niño' may just be content in honoring his contract with the Reds. That duo can create a few headaches together against the opposition.
Re: The Beautiful Game Thread 10/11
If Chelsea get Torres in the summer, then Drogba might be off to Madrid assuming Mourinho stays for another year.

But he's young and British.
I'm gonna predict, they will spend 15M on Charlie Adams.

I don't care if he's 19 and lives in Buckingham Palace, that's more money than Barca spent on David Villa!miget33 wrote:RobVarak wrote:35m pounds for Andy Freaking Carroll???
