So how long does Auburn get to enjoy this title before it's taken away due to new evidence of infractions?

Exciting game.. all I could ask for.

Would have loved to see Oregon win their first NC.

I know I am not a big college fan but that was a snooze fest of a game and I like defensive battles. When it finally got exciting a fluke running play made it boring again. I should know better then to watch these bowl games.

I have a feeling most people will not describe this game as a snoozer.

Well, I certainly won't describe it that way...;-) WAR EAGLE! But man, what a worthy opponent in Oregon. I tip my hat...

This game is a joke for me. Maybe I'm a football purist.

Are any of these players suppose to be NFL quality? I heard Cam Newton's name before as a NFL prospect, but if he gets drafted, he's the next JaMarcus Russell.
I was thinking the same thing. Seems like most of the top teams in the nation are from what I'd call "gimmick" offenses. I bet in the next couple of years we even see the resurgence of the wishbone offense. One thing is for sure, being a QB in one of these offenses may get you a Heisman, but also a very short-lived career in the NFL if you get drafted at all.

I remember posting something about a HS team using two QB's in the backfield. Now that would be sweet to see in College. :D

If Newton took the snap in the shotgun any deeper in the backfield, he would be a punter. After watching last night's game, I sure hope the Bills draft Gabbert or Mallett.

I don't know for sure, but I thought Auburn's DT Nick Fairley did his best N. Suh impression last night. In listening to the Sports Talk radio show in Houston this AM, he did not hurt his draft status as experts around here are projecting him as a Top 5 if not #1 pick in the Draft.....

Fairley was the most NFL-ready player on the field last night, by a large distance. He was the proverbial man among tykes. He's also a nasty motherf*cker, which makes NFL scouts drool.

Ya the defensive guys for Auburn were true NFL prospects.

Maybe I should have asked my question regarding just the offensive players in the game.

I take back that Newtom is like Russell, I think he's probably more like Teebow after watching the whole thing now.

Another thing that bugged me was Oregon's offensive never huddling. Each play they get to the line, then look at the coach to get the play in, then the qb goes to each and every players to tell them the play. Isn't that the point of a huddle? It was ridiculous to watch. Auburn did the same thing if I remember correctly but it didn't look as foolish.

One of the posters said this is the way NCAA FB is heading now. I hope that isn't true.

Maybe after a great weekend of NFL games, having this game the day after was just something different to get use to. I think these kids are great athletes on offense, but not sure if they are good football players. Gimmicky was the perfect word to describe this as the previous poster stated.

Peyton does that all the time :)

Auburn has a receiver or two who are NFL prospects and so is their RB, not to mention their OL gave Newton all day to pass. Oregon has a RB and a receiver or two plus #55 on defense.. mr family of NFL players.

I see Brady and the Patriots do it a wee bit also. Like it or not ( I personally prefer the 72 Dolphin throw the ball 10 times a game way) its how the game is going boys.

The way the rules have been continually shifted towards making passing easier and stopping the pass harder over the last 20-30 years you have to crazy not to throw it around a bit more.

Enjoy it. I am.

These players are tomorrow's NFL'ers. It's not like they'll start getting them from europe or anything. I actually think Oregon & their cryptic "signs" on the sideline are pretty cool. All it takes is one NFL to start doing that, and there will be 8 teams doing it (ala wildcat).

Teams that do "wacky" stuff like no huddles & trick plays def get more airtime o.nf national telecasts and sportscenter. I remember watching Boise St. this year, and the announcers slobbering all over the mic just waiting for that 1st "signature Boise trick play" to happen. They actually seemed bummed every time they ran the ball up the middle.

The most ridiculous part of the night for me was trophy presentation: The Tostitos BCS Champion Game sponsored by Frito-Lay with the trophy presented by Dr. Pepper.

Even if they don't get the play off quicker, getting to the line so fast prevents the defense from being able to make substitutions. I guess. :?:

Wonder what happened during the interview Monday with Miles? He's a known flake, so maybe Brandon didn't like him? Or maybe money was an issue?

What's the prospects of Notre Dame like for next year?

Have they now basically become a 2nd tier football program?

I was a big fan of theirs when Holtz was coach but that's over 20 years now. Seems like anyone under 30 doesn't even remember them being a college football powerhouse.

Common complaint of those who still drink the Irish Kool-Aid: "Oh, it's the terrible burden of high academic standards and ethics under which Kelly and all of his predecessors are forced to recruit. It's just not fair."

Hmm. Stanford is a tougher school than Notre Dame, and that didn't hurt Jim Harbaugh's recruiting. Stanford also can't dip its ladle into national TV contract money from NBC at will like ND, either.
