Is there a more addictive game than Cut the Rope? This game looks and plays so nicely on the iPad! And it's only a $1.99.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
If you have a previous version of 'Angry Birds' the new version 'Seasons' comes free to you.
If not it's $.99 for the iPhone, and $1.99 for the iPad.

Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Thanks for the reminder! Just updated and played the very first level which gave me huge fits of frustration! Finally passed it on probably my 15th try. Now, I get a message saying the additional levels will be available in 0 days, 3 hours, and 44 minutes. That will allow my blood pressure to go back to normal.10spro wrote:If you have a previous version of 'Angry Birds' the new version 'Seasons' comes free to you.

Heck of an update!
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
I hope that I don't have to wait all 25 days for a new level because this game is coke. Yeah, the first level was much trickier than the previous 2 versions, lotta fun.sportdan30 wrote:Thanks for the reminder! I thought 'Seasons' was only for the Haloween version. No? I have the original Angry Birds and have not had an update.10spro wrote:If you have a previous version of 'Angry Birds' the new version 'Seasons' comes free to you.

Yep, AB Halloween owners get the free upgrade. Still for $.99 you'll enjoy Seasons.TheTruth wrote:I thought 'Seasons' was only for the Haloween version. No? One word...Peggle.sportdan30 wrote:Is there a more addictive game than Cut the Rope? This game looks and plays so nicely on the iPad! And it's only a $1.99.

I bought the Peggle "Nights" expansion last month and it adds a whole new set of levels, challenges, etc...I looked at my overall stats for both Peggle games the other day - approx. 30,000 shots taken. Can't believe I just admitted that.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Bought NFS Shift cause it went down to 99c but I just cant get the hang of the steering my tilting the iphone.
I much prefer games that let you steer in a different way like Asphalt5 or Ferrari GT.

An absoluter monster of a day for new game releases on the app store today. This has got to be the best release day they've ever had.

Can Knockdown is free for the iPad and it's fun for such a simple game. My six year old daughter holds the high score in our house with 57.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Football Manager 11 for iPhone should be out tonight or tomorrow for 10 bucks. I can't wait.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
A bunch of EA games are for sale, we are talking PK type sale at $.99 cents including games for the iPad. I grabbed Battlefield BC 2 and NFS Hot Pursuit. Other notables are Scrabble, Fifa 11, Madden 11.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Was about to post the same thing as I randomly stumbled upon the sale. Picked up Madden 11, SimCity and NFS Hot Pursuit at .99 each for the iPad. Might even get some more with them so cheap.10spro wrote:A bunch of EA games are for sale, we are talking PK type sale at $.99 cents including games for the iPad. Also will likely try FM 2011, having never played a FM game on any platform (shock and horror I know).

Holy sh*t. Shopping spree. This must be what those steam sales feel like. Sorta.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
But are they any good?
One of the iPhone or iPad commercials shows a hockey game. Is it NHL11? Actually looked 3D.

Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
I went to town. Nearly the entire EA catalogue is .99 right now. I bought 10 games--what the hell. Can't go wrong with 10 games for the price of one. My expectations for a game at $1 is much different than at $10 each.
I've been wary of games like Madden, FIFA and NFS due to controls, but for $1 why not.
I also noticed Geometry Wars by Activision was $1 now, so I picked that up for the same reason.

Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
There are only two Hockey games around. The one showing on the commercial is Hockey Nations which I don't recommend due to the lag with the virtual controller and the other game is made by 2K, NHL 2K11 which is a lot of fun and has the NHL license.wco81 wrote:But are they any good?

Looking forward to reviews. Actually, FIFA10 seems to have higher ratings than FIFA11 and seems to be using a different engine, possibly not 3D. Only thing is it's not iPad-compatible.

Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Has anybody played Infinity Sword yet? It's like a cross between Demon's Souls and Punch Out. It's gorgeous and hard to believe it is an iPhone/iPod game. It might seem a little shallow since you don't roam around the environment but it still is a lot of fun.

It's sold well, suppose to be beautiful on iPhone4.
Supposedly free DLC coming, including possibly a multiplayer module.

Very quick impressions.wco81 wrote:Naples39 wrote:I went to town. Nearly the entire EA catalogue is .99 right now. I bought 10 games--what the hell. Can't go wrong with 10 games for the price of one. My expectations for a game at $1 is much different than at $10 each.

In general the games are pretty feature rich and polished. As I expected, adjusting to the controls will be the main issue.
The NFS games seem to have most of the modes and ranking systems from the full PS3/XBOX games. Kinda suck with the motion controls right now, but it seems pretty fun, and I could see myself getting into them. Car graphics look really nice, and backgrounds are not as good but solid. Using auto-accelerate on HP but the only aid I'm using on Shift is auto transmission.
FIFA and Madden not so sure about. Graphics feel PS1-ish, which would be okay if I could control the damn thing. I'm really struggling, and probably will never get good enough to enjoy them. FIFA is particularly bad because it's iPhone only, and on the iPad at 2x the control circle pad is fairly far away from the corner, making it hard to reach.
The extra bit of polish makes Scrabble worth $1 I think.
SimCity seems pretty close to the PC game, looks nice.
Also, Geometry Wars is basically Geometry Wars 2 for XBL. The touch controls are less than ideal, but after some adjustment time still enjoyable.

NFS Hot Pursuit is better than Shift. The controls are not as twitchy and the gameplay is more solid.Naples39 wrote:Very quick impressions.wco81 wrote:Naples39 wrote:I went to town. An overlooked driving gem is "Reckless Racing". Great top-down view and the control is spot on.
Geometry Wars is pretty good. A great arcade shooter is called "Earth Defend". Kind of like Missile Command mixed with Galaga.
Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
I can't recommend Osmos enough for the iPad. It really struck a chord with me in the same way that Flower did - when you're so used to games eliciting a certain feeling, it's great when games come along that do something totally different.
I'm also liking Reckless Racing...it's a top-down racer with a great feel for the road and very reminiscent of RC Pro Am for the NES.

Re: IPhone/ITouch Game App Thread
Yeah, I got Reckless Racing last month--it was $1 for BF sales I think. Good game. I always was a fan of a good top-down racer.
