Re: Fifa 11
Well that is great news. My patience for ranked pro matches is thin and won't have a ton of opportunities to play Club, but can see myself playing a fair amount of career mode, so hopefully I'll still get built up a bit for the Club. Being able to do player career while playing the game normally (i.e. not player lock) is very nice as well.

You REALLY should invest in the wired Xbox 360 controller for your PC gaming seeing as though that's all you do now. Seriously. I used the Rumblepad 2 for years and finally just used one of my wired 360 controllers and virtually all games are programmed for them now so they are much more responsive and a lot easier to calibrate from inside of the Windows OS. You can probably get a used one on ebay or something for pretty cheap...at least cheaper than the 40 dollar retail price. But trust me, it's so worth it. The Rumblepad 2 was awesome for its time...10 years ago.pk500 wrote:Plus the overall control of the game with a Logitech Rumblepad 2 is much more sluggish in the retail game than the demo. There just seems be a momentary disconnect between my button presses and action on the field, and it's disconcerting. Odd, as responsive controls were one of the things I enjoyed in the demo.

Yeah, good suggestion. But I play so few team sports games on the PC that I'll probably pass. Most of my PC gaming either is with my G25 wheel or shooter/strategy/tactics war games with a mouse and keyboard.dbdynsty25 wrote:You REALLY should invest in the wired Xbox 360 controller for your PC gaming seeing as though that's all you do now. Hardly any PC sports games satisfy me at all these days. Rugby 06 and 08 still set the benchmark for fun, as sad as that is.

Have you tried using your G25 to play FIFA 11? I'd love to see that.pk500 wrote:Yeah, good suggestion. But I play so few team sports games on the PC that I'll probably pass. Most of my PC gaming either is with my G25 wheel or shooter/strategy/tactics war games with a mouse and keyboard.

Why? That would not help the responsiveness.Rodster wrote:Have you tried using your G25 to play FIFA 11? I'd love to see that.
Re: Fifa 11
Manager Mode is really good this year.
A guy at OS posted quite a bit where he thinks that manager prestige (whatever it's called) has an effect of team chemistry or ability. I can see that but I don't think it's as pronounced as he makes it out to be.
I may fire up another MM with a lower league squad on Legendary to see how I progress up the ranks.
FIFA is an amazing game this year. Maybe not as organic as a WE9 or PES 11 Demo but it's the total package.

I think I've transferred over to an alternate universe....I've just heard Andy Gray say 'I agree with the referee'.
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."
Re: Fifa 11
Yeah, he said that in last year's game as well. Totally destroys any sense of realism that the game has.davet010 wrote:I've just heard Andy Gray say 'I agree with the referee'.

Hey guys,
would you guys agree that Manager Mode has been fixed, or at least improved over previous versions? What area's seem to be the most improved?
Thanks!

New update for this game which appears to be all about Ultimate Team mode! The download is free, which is nice, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I skipped it last time since they charged for the mode, but after messing around quite a bit in the NHL version I'm now really looking forward to it in FIFA. Although i do wish you could play your pro in there so that I could keep improving I'm (oh so slowly) as I play UT mode.

Patch details. Fixing the "micro-pausing" is long overdue, as we lose several games in an evening to that crap.

In a post on the Official EA Forums, The Football Live Team have posted dates and a summary of fixes to be included in the upcoming PS3 and Xbox360 Patches. The patch release dates are November 12th for PS3 and November 17th for Xbox 360.
Overview of what’s included in the patch below. Here’s hoping we get a detailed fix list in the near future.
GAMEPLAY
You’ll now find that the implementation of the offside rule in the game is more accurate, both in terms of when the infringement is called and in terms of player positions when it happens. Occasional strange player positioning at kick-off have also gone away, while shooting from weak volleys has been improved, too. Importantly, so-called ‘micro-pausing’ during gameplay will also be a thing of the past. Overall, your gameplay experience should now be even better.
CAREER MODE
There are a lot of improvements you’ll notice here, which will all further boost the realism of the mode, but in summary: Your match fixtures during the season for cups and leagues, as well as the time of day they all happen, should now be much more realistic. We’ve also improved how accurately player ratings and growth are displayed, as well as making sure the players get the awards they deserve, when they deserve them. Using an odd exploit to secure a whopping $2 billion budget has now gone away, while the emails you receive as a manager will be more appropriate and players you’ve loaned out will now be easier to see and manage.
ONLINE HEAD TO HEAD
Matchmaking will be enhanced, particularly in terms of initially connecting to an opponent, while we’ve removed a couple of exploits that people were using to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents. Also, players will now no longer be able to use Passing Power Assistance in ranked matches.
ONLINE CLUBS
We’ve already made a lot of server-side improvements to the Clubs experience, particularly in terms of matchmaking, match results and progress in Cups. With the game update we’ll be making a range of improvements to stats and league-table presentation, too, as well as improving the camera motion when your player is a long way from the ball.
PRESENTATION
You’ll now find that cut-scenes are improved during substitutions, along with a range of more subtle improvements around of the game.
AUDIO
Creation Centre teams will now benefit from crowd chants, while we’ve improved the custom chants area as well. We’ve also managed to enhance a few audio triggers during gameplay, meaning you’ll get an even better atmosphere as things happen during a match.
CREATION CENTRE
The general performance of the game when it involves teams and players created via the Creation Centre has been improved. Also, you’ll now find that the formations and attributes you set on the web will now transfer more accurately to the console.
FIFA STORE
We’ve made sure that Live Season will be available for multiple users on the same console. Some people who had switched from an inactive XBL account to a Gold Account were having problems seeing the content of the store – we’ve got that covered, too.
KITS
Lincoln City and Montpellier fans, your teams’ kits should now be right on the mone

I've only played online since the patch, but there is definitely an improvement in that they've eliminated the controller lag or micro-pausing issue.FifaInspected wrote:Any thoughts post patch? I'm finding the game more enjoyable offline, not sure if it's me or the patch...

Re: Fifa 11
Wow this game has been relegated to the third page of DSP thats not good.
The reason for the bump is id like to know if you can just do a season mode, like you can in NHL or PES and also have cups and champions league or Europa and league cups, or is it just manager mode or whatever.
I keep finding myself playing the demo more than PES there is something that i really love about it so i was wondering but i dont wanna the shitty gm bs

Re: Fifa 11
I am so glad I did not buy FIFA and NHL 11. I played both demos and compared them to last years games which thankfully I did not trade them in. The changes for me were so slight that it wasn't worth the $120 purchase and besides both games last year were already good. I even passed when both games hit $30 during BF.
Re: Fifa 11
Well gotta eat crow. I just picked up FIFA 11 (360) for $23.98 from the EA Store part of their Flash Deals.

Re: Fifa 11
The new rosters will be up next wednesday.
Re: Fifa 11
Been playing Ultimate Team like crazy for the last couple weeks. I hit the lottery in both of the 2 free gold packs that I got because of my having played 2 previous versions and got a Rooney and a Drogba. Selling those two basically paid for an entire Gold squad right of the bat, and reminded me instantly of how great the trading aspect of the game is.
On the field it's been a mixed bag. I hate that 80% of the 4 & 5 star teams have the same exact lineups, and the Gold keepers which are trained up are just incredibly tough to beat. I keep losing games 1-0 or in penalties, but the challenge is definitely there. The glitchers are as rampant here as in Pro Clubs, unfortunately. I've been burned 3 or 4 times by guys glitching out of games and forcing me to d/c and lose a game I was winning.
FIFA is basically like world class cycling: cheating is the game more than the game is.
Still and all, I'm having fun with it.

Re: Fifa 11
I reall dig the ultimate team mode.
For a long while at first I was just playing one-off matches, but i exclusively play tournaments now. I can't really compete with full, 5-star clubs because most of those top squads are absurd. It seems like each of their players (Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, Rooney, etc) are worth more on the trading market than my entire squad. It's not unusual for those top players to be valued by their sellers at 100k, 200k, even 300k or more coins. Absurd!
But there are plenty of limited time sepcial tournaments that set various squad limitations. For example, right now there is the valentines day challenge, which requires all gold players but a total squad level of only 4-stars (77 overall). I can have one 83 player at best on that squad and the rest are 75s or 77s. The permanent Beginners Championship is also fun as it demands a maximum team star rating of 2 stars (64 overall) and a maximum player level of silver. It's a lot of fun to try to put together a decent bronze squad with two or three silver players, cram the bench with as many lowest-possible rated players, and keep that overall at 2-stars. One thing you know going in is that most players in those tourneys will not be the glory hunters who spend real cash (MS points) to buy card packs and get all the best players in the world. Sure, sometimes i am terribly outclassed by the opponents' skill in those tourneys, but at least they usually offer a "good game" after the match.
