All things that were in Richard Burns Rally -- which was released in 2004.

The backfires are ridiculous. It looks like the back of the car is on fire. A real WRC exhaust backfire is a quick pop of flame that almost never travels higher than the bumper.

Dirt surface textures look nice, though. Car models are lovely, too.

It's not hate. It's truth. Sorry it hurts.

Unfortunately that's really it.

People think GT5 will be much different this time around. I don't think it's in the games DNA. I saw the BMW video and I take with a grain of salt comments about the AI and physics, the game came across as more of a cheerleader.

What we do know is the game has lots of the same cars and it looks pretty which could be said for every GT game before this. The way that guy drove the BMW has me somewhat concerned because he was going a little too hot into all the corners and that could be do again to a lack of 'sense of speed', which has also been a hallmark of the game where 90mph really looks like you're doing 35mph.

I love this video -- I've never liked GT's menus (which still holds true) but I'm loving the cockpit views and the racing looks right up my alley. Any videos out of the karts? Either way, thanks again for putting these up.

Kart racing is a blast, in reality and in the virtual world. Should be really fun in GT 5.

Back fires looked ok to me , i think the old man PK has trouble seeing the difference between brake lights and the pop he described.
He does have reason to hate though.
Richard Burns Rally wouldn't last 5 mins in 99% of consoles thats for sure.

It continues to be the biggest let down for me, they do such a good job of showing it off but when you take all that excitement you may have behind the wheel its like "huh what happened"

One thing i've always liked about Gran Turismo is the feel of the Rally cars. They reflect a good feel of tires biting into the gravel or dirt were it gave you a good feeling of balance. Richard Burns Rally is in a different category as you can't drive as fast as you want or you'll lose control and wind up in a tree. That's what I love most about RBR is how you are teased but so easily punished.

But with that said I immensely enjoy how DP reflects how Rally cars drive in the game whether it's realistic or not.

I hadn't seen this trailer before, wow -- the rain, snow, nighttime city view, pretty much everything about the graphics look amazing. I'm no gear head but racing games that look this good always get me to open up my wallet.

50 min, 6.4GB optional install which decompresses to 10GB or the game runs like sh*t. Taken from another board, apparently Sony asked for a 5GB install and Kevin Butler said make it 10GB. -VP of Add more awesomeness. :)

Interesting video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScaHzkI2nMQ

Check out the highly effective reverse about 40 seconds in. At about the 3 minute mark he's running the track backwards and driving fairly close to the racing line. Interesting how the AI cars just ride the line. Smashes into one AI car and the others don't seem to want to deviate offline. Looking like vintage GT there!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEznZcAk5zw

15 seconds in check out the AI car getting a nice bump on the rear right corner while going around the first right hander at Tsukuba Circuit. AI car doesn't budge where it should have spun a hard clockwise direction.

Now this one is just embarrassing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0K11haLncM4

More incredibly stable AI driving - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOiC0kDG91M

If gamers think GT has changed after the 5th version they will be sadly mistaken. It's the same formula, bigger and prettier, that's it. Fortunately they have included online play so at least you can race real people instead of the robo AI.

Beautifully said, dude. My 9-year-old son was playing RBR this morning, and he was punished! :)

I dunno i think you may be being a little PK on some of those vids , on one it was a blind corner and i saw the ai slam on the breaks and try to avoid the other cars looked like a decent reaction to me.

Before RBR was Mobil1 Rally another awesome game that was impossible to finish a stage in 1 piece.
Razzing thru the hills of Wales on a 4 ft wide gravel road was terrifying.

That was a great game that i never heard much about around here.

The problem I have watching the AI is that they don't really move or spin. Why is this important? If you are racing properly and thye try and get the inside line they will budge you out of the way and THERE IS NOTHING you can do about it. Problem to past GT games.

I personally don't drive like that and i'm not looking to wreck the AI but I have always been frustrated trying to have a proper race in GT and then it dawns on me, "IT'S GT AI"

I personally hated the Mobil 1 Rally game only because it had zero physics. The games physics was nothing more than a copy and paste from Network Q Rally. The best way to play both games was with the keyboard 'arrow keys'.

It was early on in my Racing career maybe i was blinded by the force feedback at the time something you never ever get from a Keyboard, and Wales looked like Wales for crying out loud, it was brutaly realistic i thought for its time.
Sorry for the derail.

Back to GT5 sucks.

At the 2:20 mark it confirmed what I thought all along when the guy says and I quote: "so far the AI sticks to it's own line which is why he rammed me". And there you have GT/GT2/GT3/GT4 and now GT5.

Since I can't edit my previous post:

I lol at his jab of Forza and how he thought it was arcade compared to GT. That's OK i'll take the AI in Forza which is competent compared to what's in GT. And he also explained only the Premium cars have the high poly count, damage and in car dash. I suspect that Sony will sell premium cars via PSN.

backbreaker they're ripping your game. I'm telling you guys are in for a letdown if you thing PD has fixed the broken AI. :)

Quotes from your link: "Anywho, sorry for the big GIFs but I just wanted to show how scripted is the AI...Yeah"... "it's totally broken and TOTALLY scripted."
