the more things change, the more they stay the same.

then for example, you have a landmark vehicle (1991 Acura Legend) which was the first high-end Japanese Luxury-Sport import. The introduction of a new type of market in the US (Acura, Lexus, Infinity). Polyphamy Digital boasts how their game is everything to do about car history. But maybe 62 Skylines and 34 Lancers are more important...

917 Skylines and not one AMC Pacer. What the f*ck is wrong with Polyphony?

I gotta admit Kevin Butler is one funny spokesman for Sony. I love this new commercial for GT5, oh and he's now the VP for Add More Awesome, lol.

This is all I needed to read to realize either this guy is a total wanker, GT 5's physics are a joke or both:

"I tried to drive without ABS on both stock cars mentioned above, but even G25 pedals are not up to that task."

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. If G25 pedals are up to the task of using the brakes on cars as varied as a VW Jetta GT or an FW31 Formula One machine in iRacing, they're more than up to the task of stopping a car without ABS in GT 5.

Don't blame Logitech, pal. Blame either your lousy driving skill or the "vaunted" physics of the game.

Two things i'll be on the lookout for:

1) Robo AI.

2) If I can slam on the brakes and still turn. Forza punishes you when you try that.

A. I. answered by Amar at neo-gaf.

Hanmik: how does the AI work..? are they just following the line or are they much better than in previous GT games?

amar212: Before answering I have to elaborate on this.

I am a 100% clear racer and I try to drive racing simulations as I would drive the car in RL. I also do not tend to exploit the physics and tracks (going crazy over kerbs, going off-track and over shortcuts, passing on impossible places and so on).

Said that, I was amazed with AI in GT5: Prologue because it was the most convincing AI that I ever witnessed in any video game. Of course, during Mission test you had to make few dirt moves in order to pass the tests (especially on One Lap Magic tests on Pro physics), but if you'd settled your own race with 20 laps and then try to race 100% clean - including taking no shortcuts and such - it was a breathtaking race experience.

I know many people didn't dig Prologue's AI, although I can't understand why.

I find AI of GT5 advanced over Prologue, especially in blocking procedures. Also, AI drivers make mistakes and they fight among themselves - which makes for some great moments. However, they will brake on time if you're in front of them (no more GT-GT4 bumping), when you pass they'll try to regain position on the very fair manner and so on.

In short - in my personal book, GT5 have the best AI routines I've ever seen in genre so far.

Believing that a GT game has good AI is a lot like believing that the Moon is made of cheese.

Everything I read about GT5 Prologue was that while the AI was better than past GT games it was by no means good. I don't expect the final product to have exceptional AI.

The rain effects at Suzuka are very impressive. So is the audio of the F430.

The NASCAR footage was a joke. Mediocre car graphics, ridiculous physics and collision logic, blue driving line turned on. I hope that cat had all aids on, as that's just plain silly if the action depicted in that video is the default driving model for NASCAR in GT 5.

I'm not a Nascar guy, but I've got to believe racing from one of the cockpit views would improve the experience at least somewhat.

A couple of things about the Nascar video. First off nice to see the guard rail AI is back, at least you get sparks this time. As PK said crap physics or the guy had all assists on.

No offense, GT, but I don't know how driving from the cockpit view corrects fundamental physics and collision logic flaws. It definitely increases the immersion and might give you that "seat of the pants" feel that's lacking in an external view, but if the physics are wonky, nothing is going to change that.

I agree, PK -- was just referring to the immersion factor. I'll have to wait and see about the physics with whatever settings I use.

based on video footage had viewed, this was my exact perecpetion until playing the GT5 demo (in Feb). The driving had all the immersion of a cardboard box on roller skates. Literal

it looked nice, tho

Here's a different person who has had the game for a day or two and PK, you're not going too like this, I think this guy may have read some of your post.

Why would I dislike it? It's the same sh*t, different day regarding the GT series: Nearly every comment is about graphics, sounds or number of cars and tracks in the game. Hardly any comments about physics or AI, because the game falls short in both of those areas.

Lighten up dude, I'm just messing with ya. He does talk about the A.I. and Physics in the video.
