I'd LOVE if the Kings could get him. MUCH better than signing Kovy. That being said, where are these rumors coming from?
Hockey Central on Sportsnet. The panel discussed it. He's looking for a new agent and wants out of NJ.
I don't take too much stock with what's discussed at Sporstnet. Sure he must be unhappy with Kovy's terms and money he's getting for doing nothing. The Russian still thinks that he can go unnoticed everywhere he goes, he was a big fish in a small pond in ATL, but in New Joysey it's a different story.

Come trade deadline though if the Devils continue to stink the joint, I wouldn't be surprised if Parise is showcased around and with Lou's good standing with B. Burke, TOR would be definitely interested in the guy since the Leafs can't score squat.

On Saturday night D. Briere didn't want to get engaged with NYI's F.Nielsen with fists, so instead he crosschecked Nielsen in the face after a face-off with a minute left to play in which he got a game misconduct.

The league suspended him today for 3 games.

I didn't see the incident, but you can't hit other players in the head with your stick and expect to get away with it. Maybe Briere doesn't need to be on the ice in the final minute of a 6-1 win.

He comes up sometimes when people talk about overpaid players, but he's given the Flyers much for value for money than the Rangers have got out of Drury and Gomez.

Completely needless play by Briere, but I'm surprised he got three games for what was ultimately a harmless play in a game that had plenty of rough stuff.

I'm assuming the punishment was so harsh because there was like :50 secs left in the game.

While far from being an Angel himself, you can argue as to why he was on the ice when the game was anything but over, but the things he said after the game were quite dumb too. I would have liked to see Di Pietro fight Carcillo after that incident.

I can't stand Pronger, but I love how he was laughing at DiPietro when he had Ricky in a bear hug during the scrum.

Canucks played their first game in 8 days as they start a rather busy two weeks thanks to the ever forgiving NHL schedule. Luongo got the SO vs the Devils who look lifeless at the moment with injuries and salary issues.

On the Injury front it'll be nice to get A. Burrows back on Tuesday against the Oils as he makes his season debut, still banged up though is the ever injury prone D.

Anytime that you have your best player on the ice and decides to drop the gloves like Crosby did last night, your teammates love you for it while coaches and GM's hope for the best. Sid the vicious didn't do too shabby after all.

Rookie Cory Schneider was 3 minutes short of getting his first SO as 'Nucks win another one on the road against the always dangerous Avs. Very impressed with his three starts so far in this young season where he won them all. Unfortunately with Luongo's long term contract, he's not going go be a starter anytime soon in VAN ville but this guy is going to be a great stopper with any other team looking for help in between the pipes.

Are you referring to his anger towards Carcillo's head shot on Fedotenko? The way he lept off his skates, the way he raised his elbow towards the Russian? I am not a fan of Torts myself, but he surely had a damn valuable argument there.

I didn't see much in it. Carcillo may have left his feet a little, but it was hardly egregious. He definitely wasn't head hunting though as Fedotenko turned right into him and Fedotenko's head was about at Carcillo's stomach level so I don't see how you can get on a guy about elbowing for that. Carcillo's elbow was down, but just so happened that Fedotenko's head was at the same level.

Tough call on the Carcillo hit. He looked like he was sizing up Fedotenko for a big hit, but when Fedotenko stumbled and headed for Carcillo's knees, you could easily make the case that Carcillo left his feet to protect his ligaments.

Why isn't anyone talking about Jumbo Joe Thornton emerging from his candy-ass shell last night and trying to decapitate David Perron with a blindside hit? There was nothing debatable about that blow -- Thornton was headhunting. Yet Darren Pang claims it's not a malicious hit. Bullsh*t. Thornton gets the benefit of the doubt from Panger because Jumbo Joe is such a p*ssy, and that's ridiculous.

Thornton is the biggest wuss in the NHL. I've never seen a softer 6-4, 220-pound player in my life.

Hadn't seen that Thornton play. Total opportunistic headhunting. I don't any see how there's any grey area about that hit and the new rule.

While I don't categorized Thornton's hit as malicious, there's no doubt that the blow comes from the blindside and that's the area where he should get an appointment from the league. He's significant taller than Perron but to be honest it was a terrible suicide pass too. Perron can't be looking behind himself skating through the red line taking a pass.

To be consistent, he should be getting a game or two.

Thornton had just come out of the box which caught everyone off-guard. I'd be stunned if he Thornton doesn't get suspended. Another textbook example of hits the new rule is supposed to address, and frankly I think the intent of Thornton to hit the head was more clear than on any other hit this year.

Agreed on the blindside and bad pass. But it's pretty tough to judge malice unless you watched the whole game or are an avid fan of both teams. Did Perron cheap-shot Thornton earlier in the game? Did he yap to one of Thornton's teammates earlier in the game?

I don't know -- I didn't see the game. But Perron's head looked like Thornton's clear target to me.

I'm REALLY sick of players and media using height differential as an excuse for head-hunting. The onus is on the hitting player to drop his shoulder into the opponent's body, not his head. What is Perron supposed to do, leap off the ice so the taller Thornton can hit his shoulder instead of his head?

It's the hitter's responsibility to avoid head contact. Period.

Not being a homer here but the Sharks pretty much tried to goon it up last night. Not sure what was going on with them but they had quite a few questionable hits early in the game. I can't recall seeing the Sharks play that way before. If the Blues PP would have stepped up, the game would have been over real quick and it might have gotten uglier by the end.
The Blues are off to a great start and are a much more exciting team to watch since Davis Payne took over. Halak though is the difference right now for us. I think the team has a lot of confidence in him and they are just going out and playing their game. I love that we are a point up on Chicago and have 5 games in hand!

I'm okay with 2 games for Joe.

Also being reported that Carcillo didn't even get a call, which I think is fine. His hit simply wasn't 'lateral or blindside' as the new rule requires.

It is what it is but the fact that it happened to a player on the team I root for, I don't like that Thornton got a suspension. Scott Stevens would only be able to play about 5 games a year in this "new" NHL.

As much as I hate Scott Stevens who I think was a headhunter trying to hurt people, most of his hits were head-on and/or north/south hits that would still be (or still should be) legal under the new rules.
