NBA Season 2010-11

Post by Rodster »

Did anyone create a thread for this? I did a search and I got 221 pages of results for "NBA Season", don't know how to filter it further. If a thread is available let me know via link and i'll ask Jared to close and merge this thread.

Anyways without further adieu the Heat are 2-0 this pre-season beating a good Oklahoma City team. At first I was stoked that D-Wade, King James and Bosh were all on the same team. Now that that it's settled in, i'm of the opinion of others that they've stacked a team just to win. It would have been better if these three Superstars would have had teams to build around for the rivalry in the League. I'm still pulling for the Heat to win it all as I live in SW Florida but somehow I feel it will be a cheap championship if they win it all. Carry on !

Got a fantasy hoops league that is drafting tonight, auction style @ 7pm PST that needs a bunch of players. Hoops is difficult to get a full league so we're not doing it for money or anything, just for fun. If you want in, just let me know and I'll PM you the ID & PW. Weekly lineup changes so it's not that tough to keep up with it.

ESPN's coverage of the NBA this season could be renamed "The Miami Heat and the 29 Dwarfs."

The Heat will become the most hated sports franchise in America after this season due to ESPN's saturation adulation and masturbation.

Unfortunately my wife is a Heat fan...always has been, so I get to watch all of the Heat games this year. Ughh...hopefully the Suns will be playing at the same time so I can go in my office.

I actually think the Heat situation is good for the NBA. LeBron is a d***** for how he handled it, but villain franchises generate as much if not more interest in a sport than "good" franchises. When is the last time anyone paid as much attention to an NBA offseason as this past one?

I'm pretty excited to watch the Bulls and glad to be back in the local market so I can catch more of the games this year.

You know, it’s not that he left for Miami, or how he left (although that WAS a kick in the nuts). The thing that bothers me the most is that he QUIT in the Boston series, and life in the NBA just goes on like nothing happened. Nobody’s saying anything, it’s like there’s this code of silence, it’s all been swept under the rug. If there had been gamblers involved this would rank right up there with the Black Sox scandal in terms of the integrity of the league being questioned.

Obviously something happened, somebody knows something, there’s a thousand different rumors, and NOBODY’s saying anything. I don’t get it. I’m sure Mike Brown knows, but he’s taking the high road, and that’s understandable. Cavs owner Dan Gilbert seems to have been muzzled by the league. Cavs beat writer Brian Windhorst said it will all come out one day, but since then he got a cushy new job with ESPN covering the Heat, so he’s not going to say anything. I’m surprised Shaq isn’t talking, he had no trouble bashing Kobe when he split, plus he’s involved in some of the rumors.

I know you guys are probably rolling your eyes, saying, “Get over it Cleveland, he’s gone”, and I get that. Heck, EVERYBODY leaves Cleveland, we’re used to that here. Just look at the baseball playoffs, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Charlie Manual. But the difference is when CC and Lee were here, win or lose, they busted their asses.

I watched about five minutes of the Heat’s first exhibition game against the Pistons a few weeks ago and was so FRUSTRATED I couldn’t watch any more. LeBron tried harder in that damn exhibition game against Detroit than he did in Game Five against Boston last spring.

I'd be pissed too if that ugly motherf*cker Delonte West banged my mom. So I've gotta little sympathy for the quitter. I just find it funny that all of Cleveland was SHOCKED when he split...I mean it was obvious in the playoffs he knew they weren't going to win anything and he shut it down. It was obvious he was leaving as I said in last years hoops thread.

The series was tied 2-2, we had two of the three remaining games at home, and THAT'S WHEN he decides it's obvious were not going to win anything? That doesn't make sense to me.

I still think we were good enough to win it all. Las Vegas had us as the favorite after the season, going in to the playoffs. A lot of the "experts" did too. I still remember Magic Johnson filling out his brackets at the start of the playoffs, how it pained him to pick us over his Lakers.

But whether we were good enough to win it all or not isn't the point. The point is we'll never know, since he quit.

What doesn't make sense? You said yourself he quit...which he did in game 5...not the start of the playoffs. Had he quit before the playoffs started, they wouldn't have won a game since the team around him was so lousy. You'll find that out this year when they don't even crack 30 wins. And even that might be generous. I don't think some people realize how damn good that guy is (when he tries). He carried marginal teams to some significant success.

What doesn't make sense is that if the series is tied 2-2, and you have two home games left, you're basically ahead in the series. How can you say a team in that situation is too lousy to win that series?

And another thing, I think they'll win more than 30 this year, closer to .500. But I've been wrong about this team many times just in the past few months, so who knows.

Okay...Bet. Game of the winners choice...I've got 30 and under, you've got 31+.

I have to agree with DB here. Cavs will be bad this year without LeBron. Playoff quits aside or not, he carried that franchise. You take Kobe from the Lakers and L.A. is probably still competitive if unspectacular. You take LeBron from the Cavs and they have a bunch of role players and scrubs. Not good.

I don't think there's a big mystery behind LeBron's Game 5. It seems that the Delonte West rumor was probably true, and if you found out a co-worker was having sex with your mother behind your back, it'd probably disrupt your performance, too.

Did anyone catch the Hawks last night beating LBJ & Co? Yes, it's just preseason,
but it was nice to seem everyone moving without the ball for a change. The Hawks
actually looked like a different team on offence. Everyone wasn't standing around watching
Joe Johnson go one on one.

looking forward to the season starting!

You're on! :D

I got my SI NBA preview in the mail yesterday, they have the Cavs in 14th place in the East, that's insane. A couple of gambling sites I checked have their o/u win total at 34.5, even that seems a little low to me. So 31? I'll take that in a heartbeat!

I just hope GT5's out by then. :D

Nice opening win for Boston tonite. Shaq fits in nice with this bunch. Rondo still makes this team go and Pierce had the key 3 to put it away in the 4th. So happy to see Lebron and his "talents" lose on opening night on TNT. Wade looked tentative and Bosh should be scoring more than 15 points if Miami wants to win. Lebron also looked tentative until the last quarter and for a minute looked like he would take over and win the game for the Heat. Some of those "non charge" calls on Lebron were pretty bad.

Looking forward to seeing how my Hawks start out tomorrow night.

I've jumped back into the NBA with some prodding from my son. Heading to the Timberwolves opener tonight. We are official season ticket holders this year. It's the Wolves, no one can call me a "Bandwagon" fan. It should be a fun way to get through the winter.

Target center is a 10 min walk via the Skyway from my front door. Along the way I shall partake in libations and wings from many different establishments. If anything I will be 20-50 lbs heavier this spring with a wealth of information about bars and restaurants in downtown Minneapolis.

GO WOLVES!!!

The Wolves are Syracuse West, Jack-diggity. Jonny Flynn and Wes Johnson!

Bryce is into the NBA, big-time, so he's dragging me back into it ever so slightly. I'll be a Wolves' fan if I follow the NBA any closer this season.

Must stay true to the Orangemen, both here in the 'Cuse and in the NBA! Jonny and Wes were two of my favorites in Orange.

The Suns got a former Cuse alum now too...Warrick. I like him, but man is he dumb. No basketball smarts at all it seems.

He'll always be a legend in Syracuse. Extended his 9 zillion-foot wingspan to block Kirk Hinrich's last-gasp shot from the corner in the NCAA Championship game in 2003, sealing the title for the 'Cuse. :)
