Yeah, the AI sucks, but to me, no other racing comes close in terms of driving the cars, the weight shifting, the drifting, there's just a "weightiness" to the cars that no other game comes close to replicating. Getting the weight to shift just at the right millisecond going around a corner, when you get it just right, it's very rewarding, something I don't feel in other games.
are you referring to Ferrari F355 Challenge or Gran Turismo (any version)?
A Driving Simulator? Riding lawn mower? Cardboard box on roller skates?
I don't get any of the above. Never have. No matter what Polyphony Digital may print on the box. Even an arcade racer like Tokyo Highway Xtreme 2 (DC) replicates driving a car, better then GT

yes. They definitely are
however, unlike titles like Forza, TOCA etc, any joy i receive from the title is in replay mode only. Having played the latest demo this remains unchanged. The title delivers virtually no sense of speed and/or being in a vehicle.
if not for the demo, yes, i would've picked up GT5. The updated in-car graphics/dashboards have been modeled perfectly. Unfortunately, the game plays identical to the ps2 version

Speaking of which, have you tried Import Tuner on the 360??? I just got it cheap and it kicks serious @ss.

Come on guys make me feel good about my GT5 purchase. It'll be the third game I bought all year on the PS3.

What can I say? It's a personal preference. I can't explain it. To me it just feels better than any other racing game I've played. I'm looking forward to November 2nd.
Here's an idea, when GT5 comes out in November we should have two threads, one for the haters and one for the non-haters. Although around here I'm sure the non-haters thread will sink to the next page quickly, while the haters thread will set records for most replies, ha! You guys are going to have a field day.
I know with me, it's to the point where I'm afraid to say anything positive about the game. Every time I do, five haters pile on with the same old arguments, it just ain't worth it.

lexbur: not my intention to project this. I value free-speech on this site. Whether it be postive or negative. Post what you believe in

haven't tried it, Rodster. Believe it's made by the same developer which did TXR. If it's a 'next generation' version of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, am down. However, have never tried Tokyo Drift...

Yup same ones "Genki", the game is freaking awesome only because I was hooked when playing the Dreamcast version. I've played everyone in the series and this one is the best. You can actually steer these things while driving at a blistering 120mph on the Tokyo hwy and avoiding traffic.
I got it on ebay, new for $8.99, if you find one let me know and we can hook up on XBL.

Vinny's on to something here. F355 Challenge for the Dreamcast had the best simulation of driving I've ever experienced in a console racing game.
As for the best experience on any platform, iRacing is streets ahead of any console game and also in front among PC titles. But hell, the demo of Live For Speed (http://www.lfs.net) simulates driving much better than any GT game, and it will run on old or weak PC's. It's quite fun if you have a wheel.

F355 for the Dreamcast was so good and so sim-like that Rubens bought the arcade version and used to practice with it in the off-season when he drove for Ferrari.

It certainly did, because I crashed over and over again just like I would if I were driving a real one at excessive speeds.
GT is like having sex with a frigid supermodel. Looks great on tape, but the actual experience is pretty soulless. Give me a six-pack and an evening with DiRT 2 instead

But it says right in the GT5 blog that they are trying to "make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience".

Probably a marketing decision of some sort. It's odd they would wait so close to release to make this announcement. There is so much other stuff I am playing right now, not to mention PES is right around the corner, that the delay is not that big of a deal to me. I'm sure that the GT5 diehards are not too happy, though.
I know I'm in the minority around here, but that sucks. Although it's not surprising. And at least F1 2010 and NBA 2K11 will keep me busy until WHENEVER it comes out. Still disappointing though.

You mean F1 2012 and NBA 2K13 will keep you busy until GT 5 comes out ...
