That's awesome.. Phillies are such a tough team for anyone to face in the playoffs.

Does anyone like the pitch trax overlay? All it does for me is shows how many calls the umpire misses if that truly is the zone.
I am surprised MLB lets TBS have that on there.

I am not a Twins fan at all but this is PATHETIC umpiring tonight by the HP guy. This is something like his 18th or 20th playoff season. I wonder how much the NY mobsters paid him to give the Yanks the close calls, but never give the Twins the same calls. I feel like XXIV now, going on an officiating rant but seriously. Anyone watching this game can see what's going on. CC was given the outside pitch all night long. Liriano wasn't given s***. It's sad, but MLB needs the Yankee$ to advance. Twins making it to the WS is a nightmare for MLB, since Mauer is the only player on the team anyone outside of Minnesota knows/cares about. Yankees are MLB cash cow. Pathetic.

I like it a lot just for that reason. Plus it shows how many bad pitches at which guys swing.Pete wrote:Does anyone like the pitch trax overlay? All it does for me is shows how many calls the umpire misses if that truly is the zone.

I watch VERY little baseball. But I like the way TBS produces games, from PitchTrax to the in-game interviews with the managers to the camera following guys as they run down third base to score. Different and cool.

I am no Philly fan but I was pulling for the Doc for the no hitter for sure. This dude is awesome, he worked so hard in TO to make it to the playoffs only to feel frustrated year after year when you have the likes of NYY and Bosox in your same division. TPA has also been a dynamic team for the past couple years and the only thing that was missing in his resume was an appearance in the playoffs. Not only he achieves that this year in Philly but has a no hitter and contributes at the plate as well. How good is that?

Re: MLB Season 2010
I hate the way they handle the game times in the playoffs. I never had a chance to see the TEX/TB game or the beginning of the CIN/PHI. Then during the prime time for the games to be going on there's nothing, only to get MIN/NY that started too late so I missed the end.
Glad to have the MLB network so that I can catch up on the highlights. I'd much rather they scheduled the games around primetime like they do for THE ENTIRE 162 GAME REGULAR SEASON!!. I don't care if there are two games going on at once, at least I'd get to pick the one I wanted to watch, or at least hop between games. Spreading them out like they do does us working people no good, unless we want to listen on the radio. They could have a game TBS and one on MLB network at the same time.

Re: MLB Season 2010
Totally agree Matt. I know they want to maximize viewership on each channel individually so that's why they do it. Thankfully, the Braves are playing in San Fran so I get to see the game when I get home in the evening. No streaming it at work needed this year. 6:37pm PST start times work perfectly for me.

Loving your team right now DB. Watching the Giants lose year after year never gets old.

I thought it was game over when Farnsworth entered. I think that is the 1st game I have ever seen him win.
Ankiel absolutely pissed all over that ball. Wow!

What a great scrappy win by the Braves! That double play around the horn to stop the Giants from winning the game was a beautiful thing. And then, the HR by Ankiel...wow! The Braves have been playing with fire all year, so why stop now? They comeback more than any other team, but just once I would like to see then get an early lead and hold it!
Re: MLB Season 2010
Giants definitely had their chances to out the Braves away. Bases loaded bottom of the 9th, with one out and the DP kills the threat.
Sloppy play ended up costing the Reds a game they could have stole and gone back to Cinci 1-1. Philly took advantage of the comedy of errors including the third base umpire.

Re: MLB Season 2010
Yeah me too. But hey...it was an all Royals beat down from the 9th on. Farnsworth and Ankiel, the two guys the Braves traded for at the deadline. Won em a game. Gotta love that. The ball Ankiel hit was one of the hardest I've ever seen...the sound of that thing off the bat was impressive by itself. Bonds would be proud. And of course, the other midseason acquisition had the game tying hit, Gonzalez and the two run double.pigpen81 wrote:I thought it was game over when Farnsworth entered. They never really should have been in that game...after another blown call and some horrible called their strikes (Heyward was struck out twice on balls a foot outside or down), the Braves finally got a few breaks (Sandoval being a BAD third basemen specifically). I didn't think there was any way they were scoring 5 runs, but they pulled it out. Thank god the bullpen is the best in the league (or second behind SF, lol). The three young arms they run out there are nails. Venters, Kimbrell and Dunn...think the back end of the bully will be fine when Wagner moves on (which may be NOW unfortunately).
Should be a great game 3. Lets do it Huddy.

Re: MLB Season 2010
The playoffs might as well just end today and give the Phillies their damn trophy. NO ONE can match up with their pitching. Cliff Lee is nice, but it takes more than 3 wins to win a WS (assuming he pitched game 1,4,7)
Re: MLB Season 2010
What a tough loss today by the Braves
They come back to take the lead 2-1 in the 8th with a pinch hit HR
and then they cant close it out in the 9th. Boy, do I wish we still had
Wagner. Something tells me we would be up 2-1 now if Billy was in there
instead. And then that E by Conrad was just awful. Now we have to go
back to S.F. and somehow beat that freaky mullet head.

Awesome SF-ATL game last night. Playoffs have been really entertaining so far.
Re: MLB Season 2010
And if someone can finally figure out how to win at home, the Rays should take the series tonight. But C. Lee is tough to beat in the playoffs.
Re: MLB Season 2010
Did I hear this right, the Texas Rangers are the only team in the four major sports to have never advanced past the first round of the post season?
Kind of makes you root for them tonight, no?

No! I think TBS is awful. I can't remember who called some of the first baseball games I watched but I loved Costas and Ueker and I think Buck and McCarver are good. TBS has no passion and no feel for baseball. It's just like, hey we got the baseball playoff license, how cheap can we make our broadcast.pk500 wrote:I like it a lot just for that reason. I love baseball and will not watch TBS coverage of baseball, it's just that bad. Now that the pennant races are decided, I'll tune in to FOX.

NOT a Braves fan but was sad to see them lose. I like the Bobby Cox. Alot....All I kept thinking about was the year the umps did their GARBAGE YANKEE blowjob and cost the Braves the Series.

I still remember Bobby going on the field and reading his lips. It was something to the effect of '" you f***ed us".dbdynsty25 wrote:Mark Wholers lost that series...not the umps.XXXIV wrote:NOT a Braves fan but was sad to see them lose. I like the Bobby Cox. So it was a good year all in all. No hard feelings from me in Bobby's last year. Time for Freddie Gonzalez. Keep in the fam.
His beloved tantrums aside.....Guy was as good as it gets.
