Picked up a copy at Kmart this afternoon, the store I was at looked like they had around 10 copies of it in their display case. They didn't have any signs marking that it is on sale this week but it does comes up with the sale price at the register.

You guys are KILLIN' me here! I am a sucker for F1 games, but, I have no patience or time to dive into a SIM driving game anymore. So, my question is if there are settings in the game to make it much more 'arcade' like through driving aids, etc...?

Read the thread bro. Game is whatever you want it to be. Easy/Hard/Sim/Arcade whatever.Spooky wrote:You guys are KILLIN' me here! Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
Spooky, besides the driving model which can pretty much be as easy or as sim as you want it, the big feature from Codies these days is their rewind feature. So you can run a long-ish race and not feel like you've wasted 20 minutes if you screw up and crash or what not. You just rewind pre-screw up and jump back in from there. The different difficulty levels have different numbers of rewinds available, but you can also set as many or as few as you like, just as you can customize the driving assists to your liking.
Of course this feature is anathema to the hard core sim heads, but I can't imagine a feature that does a better job of opening up the world of longer-than-sprint races to the masses.

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
What team did you guys "sign" with, and how many years did you make your career? I am doing a 3 year career with the Virgin team. What are the differences between the teams you choose? Do they ask more of you for a "good" team, as opposed to Virgin who only ask you to finish a few places better than last? Virgin asked me to qualify 17th or better, and finish 20th or better in race 1 I believe.
What is up with the qualifying? It brought me to something I think the guy called a "shootout" or "knockout" stage? I've never heard of that before. Due to working more now, I've missed every single race this year. Did something change?
How big of a deal does it make which team you sign with? Is it night and day like comparing Schumacher in his prime to a guy who finishes in the back of the pack every week? Did I make the right choice with Virgin?

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
Played a lot more, depriving myself of too much sleep, but it was worth it. To answer the question about playability for people who are not big into racers/F1 -- resounding YES this game is very playable. I've never played a F1 game with this good of control. In fact, even with all aids turned off it is pretty easy as far as control is concerned. This is a game where any level of gamer can jump in and enjoy it. The cars stick to the course very well. The thing I am enjoying the most is that the AI is the absolute best I have ever seen in a F1 game, and I have played about every console F1 game ever made. They completely respect your position on the track, and they do not rear-end the hell out of you if you take a corner too slow. The AI on the tough levels are fast. If you start mid-pack or lower you better rip the course to shreds or you will not win. Monte Carlo is a beast if you do not qualify high, just like it should be. I spent an hour just doing hot laps around Monza -- complete greatness after I got into a zone. I'm using the standard DS3 and am loving the control. It's not twitchy in the least bit, especially compared to some other racing games I have played on consoles not using a wheel. This is a really awesome game.

Lotus for 3.
Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
The how many years is career length not contract length. FYI.fletcher21 wrote:toon and everyone else: What team did you sign with, and for how many years?
Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
Is there an in-race save? Or at the very least, in career mode, is there a way to save mid-weekend, or do you have to do practice, qualifying, and race all in one sitting?

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
I signed with all 3 on separate occasions to test it out. The HRT seems pretty quick, but the Lotus felt like an absolute pig to me. I did pretty well with the Virgin. I like that scheme the best, so when I got the 360 version today I signed with them. I did the 7 year career and bumped it up to Expert, but turned TCS back to Medium.
It's just about right for me. I was down in the 1:56 range in the season opener at Bahrain last night with the Virgin on PC and the G25, and the AI is turning right about there in season mode on the 360 today. On the Virgin I was only in the 2:00 range on the 360, which was only good for 12th in the first practice session. Right where I was hoping to land, but I also tagged somebody and got docked 5 positions...doh!
The difficulty seems to be just about perfect for me so far. I was blazing around Bahrain, but was well off the pace in Melbourne, and I turned dozens of laps last night on the first track just looking for speed. Haven't done that in a while, and it was a good time.

No in-race save, but every time you go from session to session (P1 to P2 to P3, etc) it saves your progress. So you only have a single session to worry about at a time.Gangrel wrote:Is there an in-race save? I believe you can save between any session during a weekend.
Would be nice to be able to save from the pits so you can do full races if you wanted.
Maybe we can add it to a wish list somewhere im sure it is a popular question.
I picked the Lotus , cos it looks the nicest

I hate the track at Malaysia. I'm lucky if I can break the 1:43 mark.

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
Just did montreal again and it reminded me , how cool is it to see the leaves flying when they all blast through the trees?
Its the little things i tell yeh.
Is anyone else getting a lot of flats? which leads me to my next question on the engine sound, when it screams like it does (sounds like its in pain) is that just engine noise or am i spinning the tires cos it doesnt feel like im losing any grip and have TC off.

Getting a lot of flats is one of the bugs with this game. Is there a way to turn flats off entirely does anyone know?
Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
I think that my be the rev limiter you are hitting? That's been my assumption anyway. Remember F1 limits the top revs by technical regulations. Somewhere in the manual I read that you can adjust that within the regs as well if you want to mess with the long term reliability of your eight engines.Jimmydeicide wrote: which leads me to my next question on the engine sound, when it screams like it does (sounds like its in pain) is that just engine noise or am i spinning the tires cos it doesnt feel like im losing any grip and have TC off.

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
It's been documented on OS that there are NO mechanical breakdowns of any kind for the user. The only way one of us won't finish a race is if we crash. You can't blow an engine, tranny or break your suspension in this game.Zeppo wrote:I think that my be the rev limiter you are hitting? That's been my assumption anyway. Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
In this game you can overheat the engine although haven't run into a blown engine. I know the tires degrade depending on how hard you push them. I've spun out too many times after pushing the tires but I keep coming back for more.Jimmydeicide wrote:Just did montreal again and it reminded me , how cool is it to see the leaves flying when they all blast through the trees?

Re: Codemasters presents F1 2010
I would love to give this a shot in some DSP Poker Night multiplayer, but it sounds like we have quite a wide array of versions being used.
I currently have PC, and possibly soon to be 360 if I can find it. As best I can tell, here is the DSP breakdown:
Terry - 360 & PC
DChaps - 360 & PC
Rodster - PC & possibly 360 (?)
GB_Simo - 360
JRod - 360
DB - 360
Zeppo - 360
Vader - 360 (?)
Jimmy - PS3
Toon - PS3
Fletch - PS3
Squid - ?
Spooky - ?
Scoop - ?
Gangrel - ?
Looks like at least potential for a decent poker night attempt. Chime in if I have your version wrong and I will edit the post. Anyone up for giving it shot tonight or tomorrow?
