That comes with expectations. Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea fans would be peeved with a 1-0 loss at Sunderland and when you look at the quality of City's team (even with the injuries) and their aspirations, a 1-0 loss to that Big Headed Asshole's team is a disappointment. They should count themselves lucky, when Liverpool lost to Sunderland's beach ball last year they got destroyed in the press. Doubt City will get the same scrutiny....for now, Mancini speaks with a 'funny' accent so they`ll get to him soon.

You're joking, right ? The press have spent all summer crucifying the club, while positing that it'd be really alright if some rich person took over Liverpool. After all, they have 'history'.

Did my boys look like they can bounce straight back up?

I know, mate. I was trying to set a scene...

We have expectations in the lower leagues too, something you might be finding out about shortly at present course and speed. It's just that when you're a Pools fan, your expectations always revolve around losing. Even when we're successful we aren't really - in 2002/03 we were 14 points clear at the top of Division Three, as was, and still contrived to finish 2nd somehow.

Yes. Difficult to get too much of a read on Sheff Wed when our gameplan seemed to revolve entirely around gifting you a goal every 10 minutes, but you looked well-organised and solid. There was nothing especially stunning about your play, nothing that had me staring in slack-jawed wonderment or anything like that, but your boys won every physical battle, passed the ball around fairly well and, most importantly, were absolutely ruthless in front of goal.

Simo --

You know it's bad, when you look at the box score of the game (soccernet) and Shef Wed has 5 Shots 1 on goal and scores 5 goals. Something doesn't add up there! :)

Bob Bradley renewed as USA coach.

Can't help but feel a little let down. Was hoping for someone new and a little more intrepid.

ROFL Great Video, Feanor.

Love the interviewer trying to apologize after being told to f*** off. I wouldn't call him a 'wheeler-dealer', I'd call him 'a crook'. :)

LOL!

Did a Beeb interviewer ask that question? The BBC aired the "tapping up" expose a few years ago that pointed to 'Arry and Sam Allardyce, as I recall.

Liverpool have signed Paul Konchesky. Hopefully we can get Zoltan Gera, Bobby Zamora and Dickson Etuhu before the deadline passes.

Hardly exciting, I'll admit. OTOH, I've seen about enough of Daniel Agger starring in "Lumbering Dane: The Left-Back Who Wasn't."

Still crossing my fingers that we'll find some sucker to take Lucas off our hands. It figures that we'd sell every damn central midfielder on the squad except for the one who gives the ball away like it's a hot potato.

As the resident Spurs fan (easy Dave), picking up Van der Vaart is pretty exciting. It's tempered only by the fact that they didn't get rid of Robbie Keane today.

Saving about $38 million is the best move City's made with Robinho playing for Milan.

Yes, really proves Spurs' big time credentials when all they can attract (or afford) is a RM castoff they were desperate to unload...in a position where they aren't short of players anyway. Oh, and Bayern have confirmed that the 'Bayern were about to pay £18m for him' story touted by Twitcher is a load of arse. Twitcher lying ? Quelle surprise.

Shame they didn't do more work this time, Twitcher should be in Wormwood Scrubs for the next one.

Word is that Spurs aren't spending any cash because Levy is looking to sell out, and he doesn't want to further impact their figures and reduce their attractiveness.

Bayern typically doesn't buy anyone after the team starts the season. Usually, they've made all their deals before the previous season ends. I also think the midfield is pretty good at Allianz.

Is that word coming from some source you can link to, or is that rumor straight from the most bitter brain in Britain?

It's funny how in your world Spurs spending £8m on a depth player equals Spurs aren't spending any cash.

It is when the total spent over the summer was £376m, and teams like Sunderland are spending £13m, then purchasing one player in a position not designated one of need does not seem like a significant move. Considering the number of players that Twitcher has publicly 'expressed an interest in' (translation - 'illegally attempted to tap up without first agreeing with the potential vendor'). Then the cheeky f**k has the nerve to criticise City for not letting Craig Bellamy go to them, for example. Yeah, of course we'll loan you someone to help you out. Oh, and contribute to his wages as well - why of course. Maybe you'd like that transferred to your off-shore account, as with your cut of the Portsmouth transfer deals.

France losing 1-0 at home to Belarus seems like the most interesting result from today's matches.

Papers here reporting that Rooney has been at it again, with women other than his lovely wife.

Still, at least this one is younger than his previous. If he'd been going to women older than the last time he was caught in a brothel, he'd be using Burke and Hare as pimps

Well, it's Au revoir Domenech from whatever last job he was doing for Les Bleus.
