I don't know how to respond to that, but if you're not having fun then drop out. The sliders aren't bumped to makle it very hard, in fact most of them are at default AA since the 2nd patch. The cpu RB is not bumped, nor is the blocking. About the only thing changed in the DB reaction time and some special teams stuff. Holding is set at 55, I had 6 penalties last game.

Again sorry you're not having fun but I couldn't imagine dropping the difficulty down a notch

No, man, I know the sliders aren't set to high levels for the RB, because, before the tuning file update, the RB's weren't that noticeably more powerful. But since the tuning file, they're a little too powerful.

And it has nothing to do with your settings, believe me, Dan. I've never adjusted the difficulty up on my football games, because I know my own limitations. I mean, the higher you go, the more of the X's and O's you better have a working knowledge of. And I just can't read them well enough to compete.

Also, I usually just let the computer do all the drafting stuff, because I don't really care to go through all that minutia. I mean, in MLB 2k10, all I ever did was play the game of the day. Never franchise stuff, because I don't care about salary caps, trade deadlines, or any of that.

In NCAA, it's no different. I really wish there was simply a 'season' mode, like there used to be.

Oh well. I don't know. I might actually fire the thing up and keep on pressing in. Maybe I'll get better as I go, but I'm not doing too well so far...

I am not posting this to poke fun at Teal at all, but when I read his post about hating to get blown out by the computer, the first thing that popped in my head was, "I guess that's why Superior Man played NFL Gameday." :D

Hopefully someone here can help me out with the scoop on offline dynasty mode. I've read numerous threads over at OS and from Bill Abner's blog, and I'm concerned about how useful this mode is in it's current state. After doing a bunch of reading, I'm confused as to what is and isn't an issue in Dynasty mode.

Has anyone here progressed through multiple seasons? If so, have you seen problems with depth charts, schedules, weak kickers, and player progression? I'm not overly picky with everyting being "correct" (ie rushing YPC matching the real NCAA), but I don't want to see big problems like defensive backs on CPU teams playing on the line.

LOL. And believe me, I am no stranger to the rage quit against the CPU -- I probably have a dozen of those in my MLB: The Show season alone.

One thing that's really hooked me about the game is something that kept me away from NCAA for the last few years: the spread offense. I've always been a pro-style, run-first guy, but I am having a blast running the Mizzou offense. Being able to run out of the shotgun is really rewarding. When I break a big running play, I feel like I've earned it.

Playing as ND I am also a fan of the spread. I ran a WR screen to Floyd and broke it for a 40 yard TD. It was a thing of beauty. I love it when I pick a play and it works perfectly to what the defense has called. Every once in a while I know what I am doing!

Maybe you guys can give me some tips on that there spread. I am using Michigan in the OL dynasty and I am having issues with it. Some games Its unstoppable and others its pathetic. Confidence issues creep in and I wind up going back to the I and to 2 TE single back power football when games are tight ...That thing frightens me :P

Teal -

You should only play if you enjoy it, the NCAA league is different then the Madden league because 90% of the games are against the cpu. The Madden league the cpu games sucked because no one was ever challenged so for most of us this is refreshing. The best thing about the Madden league was the human games.

I consider myself a good player, and it was embarrassing to post that the cpu put 56 points up against me. This game can be tough at times, I didn't exactly pick a stellar team like most guys in our league but I did that on purpose. The fun of this league to me is trying to turn the program into a winner and the recruiting.

I guess what I am saying is I totally get where you're coming from and while I would love if you stay in the OD, if it's not fun to you then you should drop out and no worries from any of us. I look forward to flipping the week and getting in my next game, we're 3 flips away from conference championships and then bowls which should be exciting.

I'm still in the easy part of the schedule, but there are a couple things helping me:

--Patience with the run out of the shotgun. I was conditioned with the power running game to attack the designated hole and turbo through. With the shotgun runs, I've had to read the blocking and find seams.

--For shotgun options, the pre-snap read is crucial so I can take an educated guess on what I'll be doing. I also have to take my lumps -- if they sniff it out, take the loss and don't make a foolish pitch.

--Know where I can dump off the ball if I see a blitz. If I get protection I usually can make a good read since there are so many receiving options. It's knowing where I can throw immediately if I see a blitz that saves my bacon.

The two things still giving me trouble are Wildcat runs and WR screens. Not sure if I just haven't figured out the timing but I'm struggling with both of those.

But as video game football gets more 'realistic', rudimentary knowledge of defensive schemes seems to be more essential.

It depends. If it looks like they are going to pass, I'll control my star guard. If it looks like it could be a run, I'll go with the MLB.

The only thing I've seen with the tuning file that I'm a little put off by (and it may just be that I suck!) is that I have yet to come across a running back that isn't some kind of demigod. Seriously. I've lost several games in a row in my OF simply because RB's are cutting through my defense like hot butter-breaking numerous tackles, juking like Sweetness...

When a team like Auburn struggles mightily against a team like Kentucky, something's wrong. I mean, sometimes, no matter what I do, the RB is going for a huge gain...or a score. And it didn't seem to be a problem before. But now, it just feels like a pretty big overcorrection.
UK beat Auburn at Auburn last year,so the game is pretty real in that department.

Had one of my best games last night against #19 OU who came to Columbia to face the 5-1 Tigers. Their QB threw 3 picks and our backup QB had a great game as we managed a 41-31 win. No lead ever felt safe and the more I play NCAA, the more I can tell the gameplay has really improved.

Had this play happen today where I am in man coverage and I'm controlling a defensive lineman to rush the qb and my idiot cpu controlled linebacker is covering the receiver in the slot and when the receiver runs his short out pattern and stops, my linebacker runs past him and goes completely out of bounds allowing an easy catch:

This is my favorite football game in years! Really enjoying my Jayhawk season thus far. I'm 2-2 and have a big game coming up against Baylor on the road. If I lose to them, I stand to lose the rest of my games this season, except for maybe Iowa State. I'm not really messing around with the recruiting as it takes up too much of my time. The on field game play is just so enjoyable. Can't say that yet about Madden 11.

I think I'm still rolling with Danimal's original sliders he posted a couple pages back. I'm playing one level up from Varsity, not sure what it is. Today, my B- Ku steam rolled a D+ New Mexico State team 40-7. Conversely, I lost to a C+ team (Southern Miss) by 12 or so points, but the game was closer than that for 3/4 of the game. So, I'm having challenges against teams I should (Georgia Tech for example....couldn't run the ball at all) and moving the ball well against teams I should (New Mexico State).

Okay, Dan-I finished up the regular season on a somewhat higher note. Took #1 ranked and undefeated Alabama to the screws, and almost pulled out a major upset. Score wound up 31-20, but it was much closer to that. I'm .500, so I don't know about a bowl bid, but hey...at least I finished, right?

I let the CPU do all my recruiting and set my depth chart, I do the redshirting however.

Game is great and I'm nervous with #12 Nebraska up next.

pre-patch this game was somewhat too easy. too many big plays. but post patch it plays perfect on default.

I do not do any of the recruiting stuff either. I just let the cpu sim that and just play the games.

I still play madden but if I play madden after this game, madden feels so cheap. I think in the long run after patches madden may bet the better game, but right now it's not even close how good ncaa is.

I agree. I havent touched Madden since the day it came out. Its all been about the ups and downs of NCAA for me.

Just lost a night day double header against Ohio St. as Michigan.
I lost to them 29-11 last night in my online dynasty and 28-14 this morning in my offline dynasty. Needless to say there will be no roses for me in either one 8)

I have to admit, I am playing this game a ton.

Haven't picked up EA football game since NCAA '08, and I am kind of liking that time spread. Familiar but still somewhat fresh.

Just finished my 7th dynasty season (at least after extended hospitalization, you have a lot of free time not working and getting my short term disability!). I started with 1 star Army, and have them up to 5 stars. My only concern at the moment is the game getting too easy, as my team was still only C overall and I went 13-1 and finished in the top 10 on AA difficulty. It was a long haul getting a shitty team up to speed, as you can't attract even 3 star players for a few years, and my team rating got worse every year from season 1 to 4. Been pretty satisfying, though if I started another dynasty again it would be with at least 3 star team and more to focus on just playing games instead of deliberately building a program.
