Nothing is selling on the Wii right now. Even Nintendo's stuff has fallen off a cliff, relatively speaking.DivotMaker wrote:Nothing as dramatic as the Wii numbers which completely astound me.

Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
Those numbers are comparing 11 sales to 10 sales. I think that's unfair because 10 was a landmark release with Motion+ and probably drew in a lot of new buyers (myself included). How do 11 sales compare to 09 sales, which are more ho-hum years?DivotMaker wrote:See my comments above....Naples39 wrote:Everyone is talking about a massive dropoff in Wii sales, but the 10 version was kind of unique being the first Motion+ title. That presumably would generate a one time spike in sales that can't be expected to repeat itself every year.
How do TW11 sales compare to 09? That might be a much more fair comparison for Wii versions.
They sold 250,000 copies in the same timeframe last year. This year they have sold just under 42,000 copies or an 80%+ drop and TW11 for Wii is significantly better than TW10 and appeals to the family market more than the 360/PS3 versions with discgolf and putt-putt golf.
Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
Divot, not saying you're wrong, but where are you getting those numbers? This article suggests #20 on the monthly sales chart had less than 100,000 copies sold:
http://www.playswitch.com/Articles/21c0 ... a9b5477f32
And vgchartz -- if I'm reading it right -- has sales of 39,000+ after 3 weeks for the 360, the only version shown.

Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
After looking at the vgchatz some more, it looks like the numbers I was looking at were from Europe and that, in the US, the 360 was at 92,00 after 2 weeks (73.000 sold in week 1) and the PS3 was at 52,000+ after 1 week. I don't see that either game has been in the top 30 since in terms of weekly sales.

The numbers are coming from the EA Tiger forums from users who have access to NPD...GTHobbes wrote:Divot, not saying you're wrong, but where are you getting those numbers? This article suggests #20 on the monthly sales chart had less than 100,000 copies sold:

totally agree with this guy's comments:
"I agree with most of the commenters. This has very little to do with Tiger's scandals and more to do with EA not really changing the game from year to year in any significant way."

Anyway, aside from that bit of oddness, you've essentially stated the same opinion multiple times in your last 3-4 posts. We got it.

Sorry about that. I guess I'm a little pissed at EA. Im pretty much always pissed at EA but I still love this game...Though that could be cause I gave up on the last couple pretty early and this one is very fresh to me.JackB1 wrote:Sorry about that. I guess I'm a little pissed at EA. At least this year it was only a rental
Repeating...Havent played this many rounds of video game golf in many years.
Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
They just released some amazingly well priced add-on courses. There are a few packs available, each with 2 courses, and they go for around $5 a pop. Not bad!

OT: but I picked up TW 09 for both the PSP and 360 on clearance $4.96 ea at Kmart. It's a pretty fun game too although 2 years to late.

Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
My 360 is out of commission (RROD) so I grudgingly traded in a couple of gem games to pick up TW 2011 for the Wii.
I loved 2010 but I have to say that the 2011 version has to be the most realistic representation of sport I have ever seen.
Using Tour Mode Expert and the new camera, I am having a blast!
I have yet to break par (+5 being my best score at The Greenbrier), but every time I make an error, it is my fault......whether a bad shot, or terrible course management.
Having to use yardage makers to place shots is genius.
A little earlier, I was even at the 13th hole in a tournament at Wentworth, and I went triple bogey, double bogey, bogey on the next 3 holes....
all my fault because of some stupid mistakes.
With 28 courses, and a ton of modes, I will definitely play this for a long time.
I wish the sales were better, because I fear EA will cater to the non-sim crowd in the next version.
This is the most fun I have had with golf since the Sierra PGA Championship days on the PC.

Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
I guess my question is this...who is clamoring for a new golf game every year?
I get the major sports releases being every year, but golf every year?
This is coming from someone who plays about 200 rounds of golf each calendar year so it's not about hating the sport.

That's probably why you could give a sh*t less...you get a chance to get out 200 times a year...on a real course!Danimal wrote:I guess my question is this...who is clamoring for a new golf game every year?

Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
The only reason I got it this year was True Aim on the 360, and the promise of them "loosening up" the aiming. Nothing bugged me more then knowing exactly where my ball would go if I made a perfect swing. At least this year, there is some variablility. Heck, even the shifting winds is both cool and frustrating (in a realistic way)
But, the rest of the things are just tweaks that add to the overall game, but I wouldn't buy it JUST for them.
Chipping is still nerfed I think. And I think ball lie is a bit too, as sometimes the ball appears to be barely above or below my feet, but man, does it shoot off leff or right, while other times the ball lie looks to be 45 degrees above or below me, and the ball barely moves????
(I'm exaggarating, but still.....)

I noticed that EA uploaded a few course packs for 400 points and it includes 2 courses. I noticed they they all have low ratings. Has anybody bought them and is there a catch because the other courses are like 560-600 points?

I have all the courses except for the fantasy courses. I would not pay too much attention to the ratings, but I am sure the ratings are in response to the pricing of the courses even though the course packs are very well priced, IMO...Rodster wrote:I noticed that EA uploaded a few course packs for 400 points and it includes 2 courses. I think TW 11 for the Wii is the best sports game I have played in the last five years. It is sad that the sales are so poor. It is a very good game and definitely worth buying.

I was referring to the course pack that are 2 courses for 400 points??? Is that right or is there just one course for 400 points?DivotMaker wrote:I have all the courses except for the fantasy courses. If the description says 2 courses for 400 points, you get 2 courses.
Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
Good to hear. I'm hoping Sony's Move controller takes the game to that level.TRI wrote:I think TW 11 for the Wii is the best sports game I have played in the last five years. It is sad that the sales are so poor. It is a very good game and definitely worth buying.

Funny thing I discovered going thru my TW collection on the 360. Ninety percent of those courses are on previous TW games, nice going EA for reselling what you put in previous years.

They cannot offer those courses for free because there are licensing costs that are incurred each time a course appears or is offered in a new version of the game whether it comes on the DVD or in DLC...not to mention XBox Live and PSN bandwidth fees...Rodster wrote:Funny thing I discovered going thru my TW collection on the 360. Re: Tiger Woods 11 Discussion
I know, I know. My point is if you have a TW's catalog like I do where I have TW 08-11 (360) it makes little sense rebuying what I already have in a previous edition.DivotMaker wrote:They cannot offer those courses for free because there are licensing costs that are incurred each time a course appears or is offered in a new version of the game whether it comes on the DVD or in DLC...not to mention XBox Live and PSN bandwidth fees...Rodster wrote:Funny thing I discovered going thru my TW collection on the 360.
