NFL Season 2010
Let's get a thread started. I am looking forward to this season. I am not playing fantasy football for the first time in 5 years, so I can enjoy the games a lot more now. Looks like it'll be a nice season. I have Green Bay vs. Dallas in the NFC Championship game. No idea about the AFC. San Diego maybe, since they're always a good pick. You guys all have "teams" I'd assume. Anyone anticipating a terrible season, or anyone with SB hopes?

The Bills will be one of the five worst teams in the NFL. As David Byrne sang in Talking Heads' classic "Once in a Lifetime," "Same as it ever was ... "
But they're still my team! Cut me open, and you'll find the running buffalo!

The Dolphins lost OLB Edds to ACL, so it puts more pressure on Crowder to play 3rd downs and Brandon Marshall is a beast.

Nfc North will be a great conference to watch. When Nfc North teams play, it's a street fight. If you're gonna get ready for a street fight, you better start getting ready right now!

What's up with Ronnie Brown? Is he fully healed? I haven't paid attention to any players since I am out of the ff game. Ricky sure looked good at the end of the year. It'd be a shame if he loses a lot of playing time for Brown again. Re: NFL Season 2010
Yup Ronnie claims he's way ahead of schedule and at 100% and he needs to produce with no injuries as he's in his final year of his contract. The Dolphins lost Kory Sheets to Achilles Tendon, out for the season.
Re: NFL Season 2010
Emmanuel Sanders has been very impressive in Steelers camp so far catching everything thrown his way, will make the loss of Santonio Holmes much easier if he ends up contributing this season.

Re: NFL Season 2010
Great thread to get started! I cannot wait for the season to get started! This will be my third season in a row with Falcons tickets; upgraded a little again this year and added a fifth seat. Going to get brave and take my youngest son to some of the games this year.
The Falcons' schedule will be fun this year because it has some teams I have not seen in person: Pats (preseason), Arizona (would have been nice to see Kurt), San Fran (49'ers will be looking for payback after last year), Cinci (maybe more interesting because of TO), Ravens (Thurs night football rules), and Green Bay (will beat us, but still will be fun to see the Packers). Falcons get New Orleans at home on Monday night after Christmas. If ATL is still in the hunt, this will be a crazy game. Final game and final home game has the Panthers calling; always a good game.
Hard for me to say what ATL will do, but if the defense is better, and it should be, 9-10 wins should be achievable. Will that be enough to make it in the playoffs?

I like the Jets in the AFC while the NFC is wide open for the most part. As long as Favre plays, I have to think the Vikings are the favorite but the Jets are my preseason superbowl pick.

Really over the Pats? Where's Revis? Will Sanchez improve or was he lucky last year? I think the Jets will be good but Superbowl favs?tjung0831 wrote:I like the Jets in the AFC while the NFC is wide open for the most part. Don't sell the Dolphins short either with Marshall and Mike Nolan running the D this year. Either way it should be a competitive AFC East.
Re: NFL Season 2010
We may have to relish this season and resign ourselves to the lockout afterwards.
When rookies are getting $40 or $50 million in guaranteed contracts, there's going to be a big fight over money.
While Namdi is getting and extension for $15 million per year for 3 years?
You can't blame the players one bit if the owners are throwing that kind of money around. And then they turn around and plead that they they have to get relief from the existing CBA?

Re: NFL Season 2010
Fans will be pissed if there is a lockout and the NFL risks losing it's impenetrable hold as America's #1 sport. It may not happen now but in years to come who knows. There hasn't been a sport I can think of that has not suffered (popularity wise) from labor issues and if there has been one please enlightenment me. I still think there's way too much money too lose on both sides so something will get done.wco81 wrote:We may have to relish this season and resign ourselves to the lockout afterwards.

I think there needs to be a cap on what Rookies do get and shouldn't get stupid guaranteed money and not even play in the NFL where proven veterans don't get close to what top draft picks get. It's totally unbalanced but IMO, the owners share a lot of blame because they a) are willing to pay the money and b) allow their F.O. personnel to accept the rookie agent's demands.
I seriously doubt Dan Synder or Jerry Jones care about the money as long as their team finishes the season on top.
Re: NFL Season 2010
New coach P. Carroll won't get the Seahawks very far in 2010. I like E. Thomas at safety and left tackle R. Okung will plug some holes on D, but will #8 have enough receivers to throw at in their rather mediocre offense and will his health be a factor? Niners will finish first in the division, I have the Hawks at 8-8.

at least SEA will be more interesting to watch, then in recent times.10spro wrote:New coach P. Carroll won't get the Seahawks very far in 2010. I like E. Thomas at safety and left tackle R. Earl Thomas (Safety) was my favorite player in the 2010 draft.
don't know if Leon Washington will have any impact. Although, will pull for him even when/if facing the Jets
Re: NFL Season 2010
At 8-8, they'll be in the race. I don't have too much faith in Singletary and Smith.
And the 49ers can't handle the kind of blitzes Carroll likes to ring up.
