Play of the game doesn't work in the demo. It's only saving your last play not all the plays in the game to choose from.
As for difficulty I have no idea what you guys are talking about, I've played every match up twice and have not had any blow outs. I've gone some games with no INT's at all.
What teams are you playing to get a 42-0 score?

Mizzou, the play of the game is just the last play of the game. I'm sure the final version will actually select a good play.
As for me, I was very impressed with the change of gameplay and cannot wait for Madden even more now. The two things that stood out to me were 2 touchdowns. One scored against me and one scored by me. The one against me was a ball thrown that my defender tipped. The ball ended up bouncing off of the first receivers hands and into another receivers hands who was off to the races. My jaw dropped at how cool that was. The ball actually being tipped shocked me too.
The one I scored was a simple 30-yard run. What stood out to me was the fact that I never felt like I earned a rushing touchdown more than I did on that rush just because of knowing which hole to hit. I didn't jam on the sprint button at the right time, I actually hit the right hole and found paydirt. I love the subtraction of the sprint button. I already had this one reserved but now it's a no-brainer.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

I have no idea what to say to the AI issues--I know I'm a pretty good EA football player, and in one particular game with Texas I was able to light up them up 28-0.
But with Florida State last night I lost 7-6 on a TD they got with :35 to go. Their last drive was gorgeous, converting 3rd downs by inches and getting exactly what they needed to move the chains.
Some of the passes I've thrown weren't typical "EA passes", either. Cornerbacks appeared to have position on a wideout running a skinny post, but the ball was thrown out front, the corner never got his head around, and the receiver hauled it in. Another try on the same route had the corner trap his arms and prevent the completion.
I just wish you could make longer quarters

Was the player lock in last year? I skipped '10 after a couple short games because the new camera in '10 made me sick to my stomach.....literally.
The player lock is a little like the Backbreacker camera. This alone gives NCAA new life for me. Right now I'm still alternating between '09 on the PS3 and '06 on the old Xbox.
I like what I saw so far in the demo, even though it was just 1 short game. I just may end up getting this and skip Madden completely this year.

I believe player lock was in 10, but honestly the game was such garbage I have erased it from my mind.
I really like how receivers can get open and thanks god don't catch crossing patterns and go backwards. What a simple thing it is having guys catch a ball and move the right way but it sure makes the game better.
Last night Miami hit a receiver across the filed who got open on a broken play in zone coverage. He was coming down field and the only guy left was my safety. Not being able to hit turbo actually helped me I cut down his angle and lit him up.
Same game I hit a RB in the flat and a LB come up and starts trying to tackle him, my guy is struggling for yards another guy comes in and the first guy strips it from me. It looked so dead on real and not cheap like in previous versions.
I love the fact that you and the cpu can miss field goals.

How did you score 42 points in 8 minutes? Where you throwing fly patterns all day, going deep on every pass?HipE wrote:I must be posting in invisible ink or somethingHipE wrote:What is up with the difficulty in the demo? I played my first game on all american, Texas vs OU, and I won 42-0 with 2 min qtrs!
Just curious, there seems to me to be some issue with guys getting wide open a lot. I hope this is tuned in the final version. I like the fact receivers can get completely uncovered but it happens a bit too much.
I ad a guy crossing last night in the end zone it was like a 25 yard pass, it was a cover one defense and as he crossed the safety just let him go. Since there is no replay I really couldn't break down the play to see if there was a reason for it but it stuck me as odd.

One thing that I hate is that DBs are still able to jet-pack (slide jump whatever you call it) and get quicker to get in front of a WR. The pick isn't automatic but I've seen it from the CPU and Hum CPU players.
On out patterns sometimes the DB will get faster and the animation seems sped up to get in in position. It's too bad that just can't add an animation where the DB puts the forward arm in front of the WR.

The player control reminds me of NCAA 2004, which is a very good thing. I'm having a much better time now of taking control of my players for user ints or catches, something that I feel was lost when the series transitioned to the current gen platforms.
A couple of things worked very well on offense with Texas. The first was running outside, my line blocked so well that at most I would have one guy to beat, and a spin move usually took care of that. It was also very easy to throw the ball deep downfield, if I was in a 4 wr set I always seemed to have one guy that was completely uncovered, and against man to man defense it didn't even matter if he was covered, I could just lob it up deep.
I would like to add that I don't abuse plays, I just go with what the cpu picks for me, and I don't audible or flip plays or use hot routes even. I'm a pretty lazy football player, I just like to snap the ball and play the game.

I haven't played the demo enough to confirm this, but it would be great if true. Going between '06 (Xbox) and '09 (PS3) that's one thing I really miss in the next gen game. The last gen seemd to be more fluid and I was more in control. '09 feels more like I'm in control of triggering short animations than really moving around on my own.HipE wrote:The player control reminds me of NCAA 2004, which is a very good thing. I like the player lock camera on defense, too. I never really felt like I was in control of anything in Tiburon's football games, but the player lock makes it like Backbreaker, which I like. The game plays really smooth, and is easily the best EA football game this generation. There are still a lot of little things that bug me but I can see how people are going to enjoy this one.matthewk wrote:Was the player lock in last year? Yeah, just not feeling it. This demo reaffirms everything I have come to dislike about Madden football. I had 200yds passing in the first half thanks to the ease with which I could run away from pressure until the obvious open man became available; the control is loose and floaty, and nothing feels like it has any weight. Even the graphics are a letdown as everyone seems short again (thought madden fixed this two years ago), and things are 'grainy'.
The presentation is stellar, so if your a college FB fan you'll find plenty of touches to get you into the game.
The imperfect BB is still a better game of football to me.
