I was talking about that movie with a friend today so it was on the tip of my brainEZSnappin wrote:Sounds kinda Road House-ish. Rocking a sweet 80s mullet like Swayze?Diablo25 wrote:Definitely a fun ass game! I now refer to myself as Dalton. Kinda sounds outlawish
You basically explained the exact same feeling I had when I purchased God of War 3. I ended up returning it unopened for this game. I am glad I did at this point.sportdan30 wrote:Games sounds great guys! Everything I've read sounds like it's top notch. Why then don't I have strong desire to play it? On an impulse, I picked it up for the PS3 yesterday, but am planning on returning it for a couple reasons. First, I just don't have that "drive" or time to devote to play these games anymore (wish I was in my mid 20s again.... that's for another time though).
Also, the game on the PS3 only outputs to 640p instead of the standard 720p. That's disappointing, and while the PS3 got some additional add on exclusives, I can't help but feel I'm paying full price for a less polished version. $64 and some change is a lot money to drop if I'm not fully committed to playing.
Definitely looking forward to renting and playing as much as possible within that week's time. Love reading the impressions thus far. Keep em coming!
I agree with all of this, though I'm still kinda holding my breath waiting for some sort of 'funny' Indian sidekick character or something like that. The Marshall is great.Slumberland wrote:By the way, as a serial hater of scripted cutscenes in Rockstar games, this is pretty damn good stuff, and surprisingly restrained. The 'free roam' is a blast, but my friends & I saw some bizarre stuff last night like your character going invisible, guns, horses, etc. Also a couple times a friend joined the room & spawned him on the other side of the planet from where everyone else was.RobVarak wrote:I had no idea that the multi-player would be so fun. I always found the GTA MP to be silly fun for a few minutes, but with very little depth. This is clearly a completely different thing altogether!
Yourself or invisible mule?dbdynsty25 wrote:That's what I used to call the chicks I did in college...webdanzer wrote:I was riding an invisible mule for a pretty long time myself.
According to IMDB it's someone different - I didn't think they sounded that similar but I played through L&D twice so maybe I'm more used to Johnny Klebitz's voice.Slumberland wrote: The main character shares the same voice actor as the lead in Lost & The Damned, no? I thank god that melee combat sucks-too many games recently (CoD, BF:BC2) where melee combat is WAY overdone. Just shoot 'em, dammit!webdanzer wrote:I agree with all of this, though I'm still kinda holding my breath waiting for some sort of 'funny' Indian sidekick character or something like that. A lot of little great moments of Western ambiance in the main gameworld, too, that really add to the experience.
[very mild non-plot spoiler] I rented some barn-like space one night behind a farmhouse to save the game, and as my dude got ready to settle himself down on some hay bales for some shut-eye my 'roommate' sat near the edge of the structure playing the harmonica. Looking over at him there past the hay and beneath a big western night sky was pretty darn cool, and gave me one of the best 'marveling at the game world' moments I had since GTAIII's initial experiences. [End spoiler]
Oh! Also...melee combat sucks.
I didn't mean 'sucks' as in not effective (although that's part of it), but more 'sucks' as in awkward, clunky and limited in a way that doesn't fit the genre, not just in multiplayer but in single player as well. You can't really have a rousing wild west barfight here, just herky-jerky one-on-one boxing matches. Doesn't ruin the game, but it's a shame it isn't better.Teal wrote:I thank god that melee combat sucks-too many games recently (CoD, BF:BC2) where melee combat is WAY overdone. Yeah, I liked that one too, but in my case I wanted to get a better look at the fiddle player, and accidentally aimed my rifle at him...Teal wrote:In the realm of 'damn, that's just cool' moments, at the end of the day out on Macfarland Ranch, the ranch hands get together around the campfire, someone brings a fiddle, and the rest either sit around or dance. The stars overhead are stunning, and make me very much miss Utah at night, especially around Bryce Canyon.
To me he sounds a lot like Big Love's Bill Paxton...especially during some of his early conversations with Bonnie.Macca00 wrote:According to IMDB it's someone different - I didn't think they sounded that similar but I played through L&D twice so maybe I'm more used to Johnny Klebitz's voice.Slumberland wrote: The main character shares the same voice actor as the lead in Lost & The Damned, no?
