It's NHL 2010 Playoffs Folks

I'd love to see a game 7 also between the Preds and Hawks. Especially the way NAS lost in game 5. But deep inside, I want a taste of CHI in the 2nd round for my 'Nuckers. There's some unfinished business between us, bad blood and all, and as Luongo whispered into Kane's ears during the Olympics medal presentation 'I'll see ya in the playoffs'.
So it's the Hawks vs Canucks after all this coming friday, can't wait for that. There's going to be a lot of skills and fists involved.
Preds and Sabres had something in common during their series. Their PP just sucked big time, while relying on the 'saviour' services of P. Rinne and R. Miller respectively to advance. Too much to ask of them, it' a team sport game, eveyone needs to gel together, have a bounce here and there and the old lady luck always helps.

Joe Thornton: No goals, three assists in six first-round playoff games.
And people still want to defend this guy as an elite player, as a leader? Yeah, maybe in the regular season.
Here's a telling stat for Thornton disciples: Daniel Carcillo of the Flyers, one of the top goons in the NHL, had two goals and one assist in five games in the first round. More goals, just as many points as Jumbo Joe. 'Nuff said.
Thornton is a great metaphor for the Sharks. Rule in the regular season, gag in the playoffs.

As a Bruins fan i can't believe i'm about to say this, but c'mon Habs! Home ice in the next round vs. Philly if they can pull the upset against the Caps on the road. Not counting on it, but the way the B's played at home in round one it'd be huge.
On the other hand, damn if part of me doesn't want to see the Pens and that piece of sh*t Matt Cooke again in Savard's first game back since Cooke knocked him loopy.

Ah, Matt Cooke! Another NHL grinder with more goals and points in the first round than the illustrious Joe Thornton!

It just seems that the more shots that Halak faces, the more confident he gets. I was really impressed with his 50+ saves in game 6. Many of them of outstanding quality.
Interesting that AO thought that Halak was shaking all over after game 3 or so when he gets pulled for Price. Even so, you don't give an incentive to your opponent to prove you wrong. Wonder if the shaking is on the Caps team now.

Way to go, Habs! Halak stopped 131 of 134 shots in the final three games. Dude is in the Twilight Zone!
Sam Rosen nailed it when he said the Caps' brass should discover that they had built a team for the regular season, not the postseason. Nowhere near enough sandpaper on that club.

No, the Caps would need to choke for about five consecutive seasons before they could be called the San Jose of the East.10spro wrote:Has anyone seen A. Semin during the series? With the firepower that WAS has, their PP has struggled mightily. Should they lose game 7, the Caps have to be the S.J version of the East.
Allez Habs!

His -4 plus/minus was his standard playoff fare for that series as well.pk500 wrote:Joe Thornton: No goals, three assists in six first-round playoff games.
Agree...the Sharks are special.pk500 wrote:No, the Caps would need to choke for about five consecutive seasons before they could be called the San Jose of the East.10spro wrote:Has anyone seen A. The Sharks and Thornton have a shot at turning it all around vs the Wings though...Its not happening or is it?

Awesome game last night. As a Pens fan, I'm very happy to see the Caps and Devils out of the playoffs, considering the Pens went winless in 10 games against the two teams.
I'm not excited about playing against such a hot goalie in Halak, but Pittsburgh is pretty good at grinding out ugly goals in the playoffs. Hopefully they will have more success than the Caps did against him.

Come on, Hip: The Pens have a yellow brick road to the Finals. Unless Halak continues to play out of his mind, the Pens should be able to dust off the Habs, Bruins or Flyers. The talent gap is large.
The West is a three-horse race between Detroit, Chicago and Vancouver. It's only a matter of time before San Jose implodes, as usual.
It could be another Detroit-Pittsburgh final, which probably would be the worst thing for the NHL. I'm a hockey fan, and I have no desire to see those teams in the final for the third consecutive year.

Until Alex Ovechkin decides he wants to be part of a team rather than a one-man show, the Caps are going nowhere. How can you score 120 points and lose to a sub-90 point team? When your all-world player doesn't look to get anyone else involved, that's how. When he was on the ice it was like it was 1 on 5. He never looked to pass and shot the puck from wherever he was.
I am a patient boy.

Good point. Not only he tries to do it all by himself, but by the time he needs to go back to his blue zone, he's pretty much out of gas, creating the odd man rushes to the other team. He's a natural scorer no doubt, but if you look carefully, he's also on the ice a lot when the opposition scores. That tells me something is wrong, you can outgun your opponent during the regular season but you can't play this way during the playoffs.ScoopBrady wrote:Until Alex Ovechkin decides he wants to be part of a team rather than a one-man show, the Caps are going nowhere. As good as AO is, when it comes to big events comparing to Crosby, he's still to prove himself.
