Tiger Woods 11 Discussion

Post by Rodster »

Just a heads up before the game gets released. Amazon.com is issuing a $20 future games credit with the purchase of TW 11. I preordered the Wii version because like Divot mentioned it's the closest thing to a golf simulator and it's $47.99 with a $20 GC.

So there will be "Move" support on the PS3? If so I will be getting it for the PS3.

Divot does the Wii motion work better than the PS3 wand at this time?

I have no idea. I played TW11 for Wii in February and it was fantastic then. My guess is that EA will duplicate the Wii functionality for the Move as a minimum. They have 4-5 more months to improve it. There was a video of the PS3 with the move shown last Friday AM on Spike TV...

TrueView swing is too cool. The Masters raised my sons' interest in golf this year, so they would dig this.

TW 11 for the Wii definitely is on our radar.

I think your kids will really enjoy disc Golf and the putt putt mini-games in the Wii version as well.

Hell, no! We'll trade in or sell some older games and probably get TW 11 on sale or used. :)

Demo is now up on XBL, as of 06:45 AM EDT. I started my download when it still had a generic placard in the "Browse" demos section... it's still not up on the "New Arrivals" Demo section at 6:50 AM. It's a big 'un, at 1.67GB!

This is what I posted at EA Sports, Tiger Woods Forum:

Just gave the demo a run-through of all its play options... first let me say - Congratulations EA Sports; this is the way you put a demo together! :D You give the gamer the opportunity to play the game in the difficulty level of their choice, which I think is a huge positive! Secondly, you give us camera options, video feature options, audio feature options. Thirdly (and certainly not last in significance) is your packing one of your key new features - True Aim - into the demo.

My thoughts here are based on about 35 minutes of gameplay, but here goes. I started out by opting for Tour Pro, precision putting meter off, big hit cameras and pressure moments off, ball trails and putt trails off (but they were on in game anyway... I know it's a demo, so no panic button pushing yet) and of course, I had True Aim on.

I was a bit disappointed when I got to the camera options only to find Follow and Presentation cameras available, just like last year. I was expecting to find a "True View" camera in that menu, but after playing a round with True Aim on and then with it off, I see what you did with this you sly devils  You use what resembles the TWO True View camera with Presentation Camera selected along with True Aim, but if you're not using True Aim, the Presentation camera is similar to like it was in TW 10, although I've got to see more of it to say it hasn't had some tweaking done to it.

After this brief taste of True Aim, I already know I'll be hooked on it henceforth... especially with the more player perspective view of the shots, from tee to green.

One of the key things I was looking for, particularly in Tour Pro difficulty, was the swing tempo requirement. There's something there that feels different. I'm having more difficulty hitting consistent power with the generic 50/50/50/50 golfer, but I did markedly better with Tiger in the Ryder Cup. I did do a fast paced, almost frenetic swing and pulled off a pretty straight 98% drive. However, I did my normal, more relaxed natural looking tempo from TW 10 using Tiger, and pulled off my normal 97% drive. I need more time with this to form an opinion that's worth anything though.

I like the way the randomness felt in Tour Pro. I didn't feel randomly punitive in my play this morning, but I also knew that the shot wasn't going exactly where I had aimed, even with what appeared to be a perfect swingpath.

A major tip of the hat for the ball striking sounds effects for both irons and woods... they are so immersively convincing that it adds a new level of realism to the game!

I guess the only aspect I can cite as being a question mark is the putting. Granted, I'm using meterless precision putting, but I have been for all of TW 10. I've gotten pretty good with the touch that way. The precision putting in TW 11's demo is a lot touchier that of TW 10. I 7-putted the first hole from 32 feet because I kept running the ball by the hole. I watch the putter stroke animation as a guide, and the putter was barely having to move to produce a 10 foot putt, with slow greens.

I started getting better at regulating putts, particularly with Tiger, but the putting stroke animation just seems to be far less proportional to the power than TW 10. Here again, I've got to spend a lot more time with that to get a better handle on it. I'll be curious to hear other impressions on this.

Finally, the course graphics are clearly a step up, as are the player models. I can't wait to get my hands on the final game now. I'm still curious as to whether True View will be a presentation option in the final game. I know the PS3 version will have to have it by the time the Move is released.

I enjoyed the demo. Liked gaining XP for trying out the game. Liked Liberty Course especially 2nd hole with Statue in the background. Like the Focus feature.

However two big questions:

Is Multiplayer in PGA Tour Mode this year?

Is TW 10 DLC playable in Tiger 11, or can we at least use this years DLC in PGA Tour Mode? Tired of getting dinged for DLC and not being able to use it ever again!

A negative answer= no purchase. In fact, until EA adds both options, I will not buy a new game.

Excellent idea in fact I wish we were allowed to use courses from one year to the next.

Liberty Course does look cool. I've been playing it on the PC and all the NY background is breathtaking. Just wondering if you can import your guy from TW10 or start from scratch again. The meter control seemed harder to control this version, more loosey goosey if you will.

Start from scratch as there is a new attribute system in TW11...

Speaking of DLC, Tim is there any way EA can make last year's add on courses compatible with this year's version. I bought just about every course last year and I hate that I can NEVER use them again. I just traded in TW 10 towards TW 11. Just curious if they would ever consider it or if it was even possible.

Not sure if TW10 courses can be used in career mode, but it was heavily requested to add TW11 DLC course capability to be used in offline Career mode. Not sure if this made it in yet. I do know there will be online Season modes that the DLC courses will be used for, but I am not yet sure about offline career mode. I'll try to find out.
