W. Klitschko vs. Eddie Chambers only is available on online PPV on klitschko. com this weekend. That says all you need to know about how these Ukrainian robot brothers have completely sucked the life out of the heavyweight division.
There is no way in hell I would buy this fight.

Another GREAT video from Gorilla Productions, promoting the Mosley-Mayweather fight May 1:

Top Rank, Golden Boy, HBO and Showtime need to hire this guy NOW! I can't believe he's a guy who just makes these because he loves the sport. He's better than the pro filmmakers!

Or even better why not see if you can drop TR, GB, HBO and Showtime an email linking his Facebook profile as well as some of his videos? Coming from a PR guy like yourself it should carry some weight.pk500 wrote:Another GREAT video from Gorilla Productions, promoting the Mosley-Mayweather fight May 1:

Not a bad project for this Sunday, Rod, when I guarantee I'll be hungover after a huge St. Patrick's Day bash at a friend's house Saturday night!

Boxing's loss, MMA's gain. Not the first time boxing has f*cked up in the critically important aspect of promotion.Rodster wrote:According to his Facebook profile an MMA Gym who just opened for business has asked for his services to do a video for them.

Edwin Valero, one of the most exciting fighters in the world, hung himself in his cell this morning after admitting yesterday to killing his wife:
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=5112471
A Valero-Pacquiao fight, which was rumored for later this year or early next year, would have been 10 times more exciting than a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
This is such a waste, on so many levels. Valero's life spun out of control, as he had repeated brushes with the law before this.

I never saw him fight but read the article which said he was banned from the US because of a DUI in Texas but he spun it as an Anti Chavez incident since he was a devout supporter of H.C.
I read he was talented even though most of his fights took place in Latin America and Japan. That's really a sad story for all parties concerned.

Rod:
It's not a stretch to say Valero was the most exciting boxer in the world not named Pacquiao. Seriously.
All action. All attack. Lots of speed. Not much defense. A crazy mofo, in and obviously out of the ring.
I shed no tears for him, although I shed tons of tears for his late wife, children and their families. Still, what a great talent lost to the sport through self-destruction.

Fine podcast from the always excellent ESPN.com boxing writer Kieran Mulvaney, who tries to make sense of Edwin Valero's suicide:

As a human being, I can't comprehend or condone the evil that was in Edwin Valero's mind and soul. But as a boxing fan, I sure am going to miss seeing this:

It pains me to do this, but I'm picking Money over Sugar Shane.
Floyd is faster and better defensively. And Floyd isn't a plodding, stationary target like Margarito was for Mosley. Floyd will use his array of twists, turns, shoulder feints and counterpunches to win a wide unanimous decision, probably in the 116-112 range. Eight rounds to four.
Bummer, as I really want someone to shut Floyd up NOW. But it won't be Shane.
Mosley's victory over Margarito is being used too much as ammunition by those who think he can win. First, Margar-cheat-o had to be rattled mentally entering that fight due to being caught with plaster in his wraps before the fight. Two, Mayweather is a MUCH better boxer -- we're talking miles better -- than Margarito, who almost begs to get hit and survives because of his tungsten chin.
Shane has a power advantage, but what good is power when your rival has the superior speed and defense to avoid getting hit?
Brother Nazim is a great trainer and a big plus for Shane. But I agree with Bill Detloff from The Ring magazine, who says Floyd is so gifted as a boxer that the guy running his corner doesn't have nearly the same responsibility for tactics as most trainers. Floyd can use his honed and God-given skills to survive nearly any situation, regardless of what his corner asks him to do.
Can't wait for this fight, though!

Shane shot his wad in the 2nd. After that he looked like a 38 year old fighter. No speed or juice on his punches. He looked frustrated as hell.
Manny needs to get this thing done with PBF.

The worst thing that could have happened to Shane was the second round. He caught Floyd and actually believed he could knock him out with one big punch later in the fight.
Big mistake.
From that point on, Floyd owned the fight because Shane continued to look for another big shot, which never came. You're not going to get a second chance at a big shot against Floyd Mayweather because he's just too good defensively and too good of a counterpuncher.
Once Shane realized that, he was too tentative and too jittery. He forgot to lead with his jab, as Brother Naazim urged him to do. Shane was neutered. Game, set, match: Mayweather.
It's funny: People laugh at Floyd Mayweather Sr. as being a loon, but he called Shane's style to perfection in episode three of "24/7" when he said Shane would bounce and be jittery the entire fight. Spot on.
It was largely irrelevant because Floyd crushed Shane in this fight, but I thought Kenny Bayless did an uncharacteristically bad job as referee. He was channeling Joe Cortez, being much too intrusive and allow way too little inside fighting.
Enjoy Floyd while you have him, as there are only two fights left for him at welterweight. Pacquiao or Paul Williams. And Pacquiao is the only one that will capture the public's attention.
Even so, I don't think Pacquiao can beat Mayweather. He leaves himself too vulnerable to counterpunches through his sometimes reckless multi-punch combos from different angles, and Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest counterpunchers of all time.
My respect for Floyd increased exponentially tonight. He dismantled a fellow Hall of Famer with ease.
Big mistake.

I think I read on ESPN this morning where Mayweather said if Manny takes a blood and drug test before the fight, it's ON !
Manny said he'll take a blood and drug test but not 24 hours before or real close to the fight. Didn't make much sense to say that TBH. I would have said no to a week before the fight and yes right after the fight.
I would love to see these two fight. They are both the best in the business. It would probably be the last fight for both unless they agreed to another huge payday and a rematch.
I know some in the Boxing media have questioned if Manny would win some of his recent fights and he's blown up his opponents. I think PBF would be favored but Manny could definitely win it.

You want simple evidence why Mayweather would beat Pacquiao with relative ease?
Just look at Manny's face after the Cotto and Clottey fights: Bruised, bandaged, bloodied.
Now look at Floyd's face after the Marquez and Mosley fights: Untouched.
You can say all you want about Manny's power, angles and volume. But that's irrelevant if he can't hit Floyd. And he can't.
Hell, Mosley is a more disciplined boxer than Pacquiao even though Shane didn't show it past the second round last night. And Floyd picked him apart. What makes anyone think Floyd will have more trouble countering and sticking and moving against a less disciplined boxer in Pacquiao, who leaves himself more open than Mosley?
A Pacquiao-Mayweather fight would unfold just like last night's fight, with Manny maybe winning four rounds instead of one. The final scores would favor Mayweather around 116-112.
People sometimes point to Freddie Roach as a big advantage in Pacquiao's corner. Again, irrelevant. Naazim Richardson ranks right with Roach as the best trainer in boxing, and how did that help Mosley last night?
Roger Mayweather is a great trainer in the gym. He keeps Floyd focused and disciplined leading up to a fight, knowing exactly how to prepare his nephew. But once Floyd enters the ring, Roger doesn't need to do much. Floyd executes strategy and adapts on the fly, without instruction from a trainer, better than any fighter in the world.
Roger is a lot like John Wooden with the great UCLA hoops teams of the 60s and 70s. He makes sure everything is done properly in practice, and then just sits back and watches his finely-tuned athlete execute to perfection in the big game.

I'll beg to differ. This was Pacquiao with Bob Arum at the post-fight press conference after Cotto:Rodster wrote:I don't remember Manny's face looking messed up during the Cotto fight. I thought it was Cotto's face who looked like it took the full brunt of a 2x4. I still think if Manny fights Floyd it's probably his last fight cause it looks like he wants to run for Office in the Philippines.

Note the blackening around Pacquiao's right eye and the bandaged ear. Cotto inflicted cartilage damage to Pacquiao's right ear with his shots in that fight.
