Wednesday weren't so lucky, to the Relegation zone they go.
Now they are out of it. The Championship is close, close , close again this year at the bottom.

Nice to see notorious Scouse hardman Steven Gerrard is going to have no further action taken against him, despite deliberately elbowing Michael Brown in the back of the head during last night's game against Wigan. Yes, of course we know that punishments cannot be retro....err, unlike on Adebayor's retaliation on Van Persie or Patrick Vieira.

Maybe the ref didn't believe Gerrard meant to attack him....what with there not being 5 of his mates there to weigh in as well. It was from behind, though.

And yes, Squid, I know it was only Michael Brown, who is a nasty little ex-Pig (and ex-Blue), but that didn't stop Adebayor getting a 4 match ban for responding to Robin 'The Rapist' Van Persie, did it ?

Michael Brown also was involved in the Battle at Bramall Lane, so he probably deserved it.

I think Gerrard was lucky in that the shot didn't really connect. If he'd caught him flush it might've been a different story. I generally don't excuse players for retaliating, but Brown was kicking him around for the entire game yesterday...including a full on American football tackle several orders of magnitude better than anything I saw out of the Bears last season. :)

I didn't realize how much I missed Mourinho until his press activity this week. He lands in London and 20 minutes later the English footballing press is a sputtering apoplectic mess...even worse than usual LOL

Van Persie was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Do you know something the Dutch authorities didn't know?

Are you saying Aderbayor was justified in what he did because his victim was once accused of rape, a charge which did not hold up?

Jesus Christ, I almost spat out my coffee! LOL

Gerrard is a fine upstanding citizen. Mike Brown should be happy he didn't mention anything about Phil Collins.

Yes, quite clearly.

as much as I hate all things Liverpool and their fans, Michael Brown should have been taken out years ago by someone and had his career ended.

He wasn't all bad, despite his Sheff U past - he did have a scrap with that bog-trotter Keane very early in his career.

Barca's first goal vs Stuttgart was a beauty by L. Messi. I am just puzzled that he can't find his game with the National team.

Barcelona-Arsenal in the quarters should be good. Experience should prevail on that one. ManU-Bayern. Damn, OK, I'll be rooting for the German side.

sadly, with the Bayern defense the way it is, I'm expecting a repeat of last year with Barca in this round.

Well, the Spanish midfielders are deeper and experienced than Arsene's side and with Iniesta pulling the strings together it'll be tough for the English club, to control the likes of Messi and Henry. One good news for them is that C. Fabregas will be ready to rejoin the team.

And looking ahead at their schedule, 7 games in three weeks, they'll have their hands full.
