Also I hope they got rid of that God awful announcing team.
Ditto. Ryder Cup will be interesting to see. And I can't stand Kelly Tilghman.

I still don't get how this will work:
The reason for the view is that the MotionPlus — which isn't required for this year's edition but is clearly beneficial — does more than just detect wrist rotation, tilt and club speed this time around. It also can now detect a point of contact, allowing gamers to whiff on their swing or chunk a divot out of the ground
How does it detect a point of contact if you're not hitting anything. I'd really like to know how this works.

I don't know the details, but I do know that it works. The WiiMote + assumes that the controller is a real club in that the controller represents the grip on a real club. The end of the controller is considered the shaft. If you place a golf ball on the ground to use as a visual representation of the address, then setup your stance by aiming at the ball, it does a great job in representing the swing. Since the camera is only your golf club and the ball(1st Person view which can be changed to horizontal or vertical on your screen, you can tell what changes you make to the face of the club while holding it in your hand.

Hmm so is a golf ball required as a visual reference point?

I would become frustrated if i was whiffing or chunking shots and had no idea why?

So theoretically if you set up a ball and did somethign stupid like put it 12 inches in front of your left foot (right handed golfer0 and then tried to swing with that as your reference point you would whiff or hit a god awful shot right?

I guess I will come in and be a negative Nancy.. I love Tiger. I don't know if the game is worth 60 bucks to me, though. It just seems like the game is cheap. I want them to make the golfer you make more realistic. You go from barely hitting it 200 yards to out driving everyone on tour within 6-8 tournaments. I remember Tiger a few years back, Tiger 07 or maybe 08 where the sweet spot was tiny, and anything less than perfect was in the rough or even out of bounds. Too many people complained so they dumbed it down the next year. I don't want to be able to shoot 15 under with ease, and I want a 7 under round to feel like a good score. In Tiger, if you don't shoot 12 under or better you are pretty much garbage at the game. I remember winning some tournaments at 65 under or so, and that is sad. Playing online is even worse when people there are shooting better than 30 under per round. I wish they would make Tiger with the normal "arcade" mode and a more "sim" mode for guys like me/us who don't want such an easy game. You almost never get a long iron shot into the green except for holes that are like 550 yards like @ Hazeltine. I would regularly hit driver followed by 7 iron on up. That's not golf to me. Divot, do they plan to make this game a lot harder? It's a beautiful and fun game, but it represents Pga Tour golf about as well as Nfl Blitz represents Nfl football...

Not required, but it does help when addressing the ball with the Wiimote.

Your onscreen feedback will tell you exactly why your shot results came out the way they did.

Might want to wait for EA to release some of the gameplay changes they have made this year....especially the random landing area and the variable winds. The biggest reason for such low scores in previous games was because every shot if hit perfectly landed EXACTLY where you aimed, especially with winds that did not vary. This mad holing out from the fairway a commonplace thing instead of a once in ever 5 round thing. The random landing circle and variable winds should make the gameplay much more realistic and less like Laser Lawn Darts....

They have also changed the attribute system to be user selectable, IOW, you can focus on one particular part of your swing and improve that while leaving the rest of it alone. You can build your golfer the way YOU want to play and not how the game or Hank Haney determines you should. Attributes are no longer "dynamic" and controlled by the game.

Divot, big question if and when you get the info. Will the PS3 motion controller and the Wii controller play exactly the same and include the same physics? If so i'll default to the better looking game unless EA includes more courses for the Wii version.

You sell this every year.

As long as the people that buy that games want to shoot 55 there will an arcade feel to the game.

I don't enjoy it because the ball physics are really bad and mostly simple. There's no randomness to the game once you figure out generally the bounces and how each club will bounce and the trajectory it's just a matter of executing that.

Once you figure out the system in Tiger the game is all about finger-jockeying and less about golf.

Can't say because we did not get to see the PS3 Move controller in action with the game. My guess is that EA is expecting them to play the same if not very similar.

Divot when you get the word from EA, please post the courses or at least the number of courses for each title. :)

As soon as EA releases the information....this is still under NDA.

If they make this game play more like a simulator, that is indeed appealing to me. Just the fact that you can hit the shot fat or thin adds a whole new level of realism that this series never had.

One thing that is assured is that some courses that were available as part of previous editions (or even last year for that matter) during this generation of consoles will now be DLC because the Gamestop pre-order bonus is Riviera. So my guess would be that there will be a few more new courses and some of last year's removed and made DLC. That's just how EA rolls.

If EA put as much effort into the actual gameplay as they did into the player face modeling and character creating, we would have a great game.

Wasn't Divot recently made an "EA Game Changer"? If so, I think it may be part of his job now.

I apologize in advance if this "Game Changer" is a different guy:

"Tim Scott is a longtime gamer and self-confessed Tiger Woods golf fanatic. He has played EA Golf games since PGA TOUR Golf for the Sega Genesis. Tim has participated in at least 11 EA Sports beta tests including PGA TOUR Gold, TW99 through TW Online. Tim was the winner of the October 1999 EA Sports Internet TOUR in Las Vegas taking home $10,000. He has been a TW Forum Moderator since TW 2000 for PC. Beginning with the 2002 version of TW for PC, he was contracted by EA SPORTS to deliver website previews of upcoming TW games as well as deliver digital photography and videography from 6 of the courses that have appeared in all versions of TW PGA TOUR. Tim also conducted competitive analyses of other games for EA's Tiger Dev Teams for TW2002/2003. Tim has attended 3 Tiger Woods Community Day events at Tiburon Studios in Florida as well as a number of special events at EA Redwood Shores in the past."

Because I'm right. You have an angle on the game like no one else. You come here and promote Tiger. I don't know why you do it. You've had a history with Tiger/PGA in some form and while may not be compensated you have a conflict of interest with the game. And it may just be that you at one time worked with some people on the game and so you have a vested interest with those people or the game. I'm not saying you can't post just that you haven't been totally honest with DSP. You provide "insider" information each year and what's puzzling is how do you get this information if you aren't aren't affiliated with the game in some way?

You have a conflict of interest with Tiger and that's fine it's just that I think you are disingenuous in how you present yourself to the board. I read the news you post about Tiger but I skip past your "recommendations" on the quality of the game because of this conflict of interest.
